Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch - Part 2

I have found ebay to be a good resource - it's hit-and-miss but if you check every couple of days you can usually find what you want and with free shipping. I bought 10 Ce4's for 15 bucks and free shipping and everytime I see them listed at a similar price I pick up a few more. I find them great for spares, emergencies, taste-tests, etc. Sometimes as they're so easy to fill I just use them when I can't be bothered with the bottom-fillers. At approx a buck and a half to two bucks a pop I don't mind their being disposable... They just don't look as cool as the new-fangled pieces, but then neither does my old flip with buttons cell phone (but I can answer it with wet hands in the rain while all the silly buggers with fancy touch-screen "smart" phones are still trying to slide theirs on to call a cab, he he he)...
I have a bunch of them, and buy replacements at DV CE5 Coil Heads . I am not sure if they will work, but he says they are compatible with two other brands.
Hi folks, got room for one more on the porch? I'm not picky, a seat on the steps is fine with me. I've been reading through some of the posts here and I think ya'll are my kinda people. A little about me; I'm a fifty something housewife, been married 31 years to a wonderful 'ol fart who can still make me laugh at least once a day. I smoked for 38 years before starting vaping about 5 months ago. I've learned everything I know from PBusardo and the folks here at ECF. (Wish I would've found this place first, lol.) I don't personally know anyone else who vapes and the local vape shop is full of those young whippersnappers who are more interested in creating a storm front with vape clouds than getting the best flavor from their juice. I felt like Rodney Dangerfield in there, * no respect* lol. Anyhoo, I'd love to sit and "chew the juice" if ya'all will have me.

When I was searching for local vape shops on Facebook recently, I noticed that at least one of them had rebuilding classes. I don't remember which one, but I plan on calling them all and asking. And, I'm watching a video on rebuilding a CE5 V3/Vivi Nova ATM. They say that it's the same except for a slight difference in space available.
I am determined to do this NOW.
Although I will be like you with the reading glasses and all. I just hope that's enough.
I hope I can find a rebuilding class with free pizza!
When you-all leave your house, what do you take with you? I always take a minimum of 3 batteries with 3 different flavours in the tanks/cartos on them and one charger. Is that normal? When I do happen to run into another vaopr they only seem to have one setup on them... or maybe I'm just paranoid of hitting a problem and facing having to go without nic or buy a pack of smokes.... maybe it's a "new-vapor" anxiety thing I will eventually overcome????
My local B&M is going to have a re-building class and I'm rather excited to go. I have noticed a lot of it for me is just getting out to be social with other vapors and get into the whole "vaping lifestyle" which I find does help me want to stay with vaping and not revert to analogs. I have bi-focals (which I happen to look adorable in, ha ha ha) but I will take me magnify glass to the class with me
I take my Vamo, usually as a shorty, and three clearos, randomly chosen. At all times I also carry a twist that is about done for in my purse.
Vaping bubbles... okay I went up to my vape store to buy a new flavour juice as I was getting bored with what I had. There was a very friendly young fellow sitting up at their juice-tasting bar. You know those bottles of bubbles they sell for kids where you dip in the round thing and then blow bubbles? Well, he had one of those with a drinking straw in it. He would hit his vaporizer, then dip in the straw and exhale blowing through the straw. It filled the place with little opaque white bubbles and when they popped they "disappeared" in a "puff of smoke" lol - my granddaughter will totally love that...
It seems to be a thing with vaping... when I smoked I never carried three diff brands/flavours of ciggys, yet with vaping I like to have different flavors. Go figure, lol...

Really, the 3mm ekowool barely fits in the tank, but it works fine. Next time around I'll probably use 2mm. Oh, and hello everyone, and good morning!

At first I wasn't sure if I could or not. My daughter had a CE4 in the past and she didn't think it would come apart. But this CE4 plus did come apart, and it was as easy to rebuild as my vivi novas. I have to add though, that I use a magnifying lamp because I couldn't see well enough to do it otherwise.
The closest I've come to re-building thus far is dry burning and replacing the wicks... I am nervous of actually making new coils as I used to set me oven on fire on a regular basis, so not sure how I'd do with that, lol. But I find the dry burning and adding a new wick do make a coil go a lot further!
I did that, and it did help. But, it just wasn't quite right still. I will pull them out and try again later. Maybe I just need to come at it fresh.
That's a great price. Are they any good? Have any of them been DOA? How long do they last?
Do you have the Vision or the DV brand? He specifically says on his site (about his DV replacement coil): 'It will not fit other CE5's from other vendors'. Although I could just buy his brand CE5, I suppose.
I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be with all the youngins. But, I do need to get out more and have a life away from work and the grandkids. It might even be fun! Let's see. I carry an assortment, always 3 or more. But, I also used to always carry 2 packs of cigarettes on me and get nervous if I had less than a carton left.
Wow! Welcome to all the new peeps to our porch!! Zelly and Wildman and X6X8 and Kim!! Hope I didn't forget anybody! So glad to see all the new rockers filling up. Always good to have new perspectives and it means more of us to help new vapers!

We've been vaping for almost 2-1/2 years so some may call it paranoia, but I like to think of it as being prepared. You just need to run out or have a problem once and you'll never leave the house unprepared again. That's what happened to me - never again!
At least the fire would be a lot smaller than your oven!

Indeed there's always room for more folks on the porch. Congrats on getting of the analogs. We all have our own pace but with commitment the 'day of freedom does arrive'.
You've gotten some help w/ the CE5's, so FWIW - the Vivi Nova heads are a small 'work space' but rebuilding is fairly simple and straight forward. If you need some help w/ them just ask, Janet and I have rebuilt a bunch before moving on to using Aspire BDC heads.

I always take two PV's, usually switch to fresh batts before leaving the house, and depending how long i'm planning on being gone, a couple of extra batts too.

CE5 heads are pretty simple to rebuild. They go together exactly the same way as Vivi Nova heads. Lots of videos out there on how to do it.
A trick I used when I was rebuilding them.
Unbend a paper clip and hold it with the silica while you wrap the kanthal around both. This ensures you do not wrap too tightly. I leave the paper clip in and use it to set the coil into the base. This keeps me from yanking too hard when locking the wire legs down and pulling the coil too far down into the head. Once everything is locked down I just slip the paperclip out.
I had really mixed results with buying off brand replacement CE coils. The fasttech ones did not work at all in the CE5s I have (mine were REDUX CE5s).
As for CE4, SOME can be rebuilt and some do not come apart at all.
