EEEK! I might need to look around more, try to find one that doesn't have that botton button. Unless I'm using my iTaste on pass-thru (anytime I'm here, pretty much, in which case I prop it in a coffee mug), I *always* set it down standing on its end. But then, I kinda have to; those T3S's dribble liquid out the tip something awful.

Andria

Not all bottom button mechs fire w/o locking 'em and standing them up. My sigelei bottom button mechs are OK standing on end w/o locking the fire button.

Yippee! I just had to re-boot my MAC - yeah, it may be a Apple product, but it's still a computer. Anyway that's not what the yippie's for. While it was re-booting I picked up the iPad and used it to access ECF. When using Tapatalk - go to first unread post works! :)Still no joy with a PC browser though.

Now that would be so nice. From a co-op I've bought all the parts, pieces, and board to build a DNA30 box mod. I've no idea what I'm doing and haven't used a soldering iron for electronic work for 30+ years. I'm quite nervous that I'll burn the board up trying to solder leads to it. Oh what have I gotten myself into!!!

Mike- get a clip on heat sink from Radio Shack. They are $2.50, and that's pretty cheap peace of mind. Or use a small pair of hemostats if you have some, they work just as good.

WHEW... I am *so* relieved... our cat didn't come when we called her when it started getting dark. Not odd, you might think, for a cat, but she comes when we call her then, at least 99.9% of the time. But tonight she didn't, and now it's dark, and we were REALLY worried... there are great horned owls around here. But she finally came home... WHEW... the only reason this is pertinent here is that in the aftermath of a scare like that, in relief, I would have gone out to the porch to smoke. Now, I'm just sitting here, weak with relief, puffing on my iTaste. *WHEW*

Ok, back to mods. I'll keep looking around for mechanicals for a decent price; I would prefer something with a side button, but I guess it's not really a deal breaker, if it doesn't fire that easily. But those bottom buttons do seem like they would be awkward. As I said, when we do get that refund in May, I might be able to get something then, and I really am concerned with being prepared for whatever idiot laws might get passed. Mechanicals seem like they would be much easier to repair if broken, unlike electronics with integrated battery. I don't want to be in a position where I have to choose, stay smoke-free and suffer, and go back to cigarettes. I'd really hate that, after being able to quit so easily -- I *know* how precious that is.

Andria, I keep my ego batteries charged, the 2 mvp and 2 itaste. I have a mech mod, that I purchased on a coop, coming. Bought it just for .....s and grins and the case mods get regulated. No not the regulated/non regulated, but govt regulated. I don't own any rechargeable batteries or chargers!

I have 6 18350s, 1 18500, and 7 18650s
For my rechargeable batteries.
Planning on getting an 18650 flashlight... So I have something to "legally" use the big ones in.
I have 4 EGO style batteries, 6 e-pipes (inc the new hammer), two SIDS, 2 mechs and a telescoping Zmax.
Next month, I plan on having another device... With the legislation happening, I will have to see where provape hangs it's hat to see if I'm buying early!
I can DIY (and do).. Have enough supplies for a couple of years, but want to stock some more nic.

AND... I don't even think the vape-ocalypse is gonna happen!!
I can only imagine what the more.... more..... believing people are stocking up with!

shoot!! Provape is in Seattle. Gonna have to look at that legislation really carefully and decide if I'm gonna buy now and hold it closed until next month!

Welcome to the friendliest porch around! Are you new to vaping or returning to see what's new?

lotus girl - hi and welcome to the porch!

Welcome lotus girl find a rocker and sit a spell

Thank you, thank you! I started vaping the end of December 2013 and have not had a cigarette since :) One of the best decisions I've ever made. Of course I picked up a juice and equipment habit but I can think of way worse habits (smoking)

Glad to find this thread :) Thanks for the welcomes!

I just received a Sentinel Clone...my first venture into the land of the mods. It's pretty powerful, consistent and light weight. The bottom button on this is firm enough to not fire when it's standing up, but soft enough to press as needed. Very happy with it and the price as well.

I've been shopping around a little and hoping to reward myself for my 6 month no smoking anniversary with a Super T.

Who got up this morning and re-built coils for Protank Mini/Evod? This girl!! :D I know there's a couple girls here who are wanting to learn. Below is a link to the method I used. I wrote the steps down in my notebook for reference as I watched the video. As a note, I didn't have 3mm silica, just 2mm, but that works fine. I used the 32 guage wire and on the two coils I made I got 1.5 ohms and 1.6 on the other, using 4 wraps on top. I did not put in a flavor wick, and so far no problems at all :thumb: I think that using the long straight pin is brilliant. Really cuts down on the fumbling.

Hope this helps!

MisKate I have to thank you too. I re-built 3 coils this afternoon using her method and it was very easy to follow. The two Evod/Protank coils came out at 1.8 & 1.9. The T3 coil for some reason was 1.7 but still acceptable. I haven't tried vaping with them yet - but I am hoping they are an improvement using the 3mm silica.

I am not too interested in building coils and will just do a couple every so often to keep the skills - just in case I can't keep buying the ready to use ones. Never hurts to be prepared.

Andria- I didn't purchase a bottom switch PV for a long time because I was worried that I wouldn't like the bottom switch. The day I finally got to try one out at a vape meet I realized I'd be just fine with one :) Some work with magnets and others with springs. They are all just a little different so its possible to be happy with one and not so much with another. Having a locking mechanism is important if one is going to stand them on end although they vary in how easy they are to fire simply by standing them up.

I'm really liking the Super-T Simplicity. It's been my 'goto' PV for the last couple weeks since I got it. The bottom switch is so smooth and light - it takes nothing to fire it. OTOH - its so light you can't stand it down w/o it firing. I had to train myself to turn the locking ring before putting it down. A couple time when I first got it - I failed to lock it and set it on the table next to me. Then a minute or so later - I smell something burning. Yikes! It was like the old days when the cig would fall out of the ashtray. Always had to pay attention 'till I 'learned myself' to lock it.

What Super-T's do you have, and can they be set down w/o locking them?

Mike- I have both Super T's Precise+ 18350 and the ELA. I love both of them and am extremely happy I bought them. The switch assembly on both of mine (which is the same on both) is not a wide base, so depending on your topper it wouldn't take much for them to fall over if standing by themselves so I find putting them in my wooden mugs that I use as PV holders if I want them upright to be the better choice although I do stand them up sometimes and I haven't had any problem with them firing on me or falling over but I'm sure I've just been lucky in bother cases :) I considered getting the Precise+ for a long time but I was very worried about a bottom switch and afraid I wouldn't like it. The day I got to try one out at a vape meet I fell in love. :)

It's very nice having some great modders as friends that live nearby. Me and soldering guns don't get along so this girl isn't likely to EVERY be using one in the future but at least I know where I can go if I ever find myself in need. :) It's also fun to get to preview some APV's before the general vaping world gets to see them. And I'm extremely grateful when I can test drive APV's before buying.

Good luck with DNA30 mod. Look forward to hearing about it when you get it built :)

Welcome to the thread Lotusgirl :)

Glad your kitty came home! I worry too if mine doesn't show up when she's expected. She is normally like clockwork.

I may be behind here, but wanted you to check out this mech mod:

It's a KTS, has a side button, and price is right. Good reviews too. I placed another order with FT today (gotta stop!!) and ordered one of these. This will be my backup plan in case the hammer falls on us. Don't expect I will use it much, since I have the MVPs and a Vamo on the way. I should be set as far as pv's go. I just feel better having one with no electronics on it to go bad.

It does take a while to receive orders from FT, but the shipping is Free and they are reputable. They're great for things you're not in a desperate hurry for.

I found this one, and I like the clean lines of it; no fuss, just sleek and modern; it's also very affordable!

fallenangel.jpg

It's in the same ballpark with the iTaste, price-wise, though I know I'd have to buy the batteries/charger extra, but still, considering some of the prices I've seen on these things, this is very economical, $39.95 at litecigusa. Just wondering if anyone has experience with it, is it good, etc.

And hiya, LotusGirl! Welcome!!! You've found the friendliest forum on the internet!! :D

Thx much!!

I'm thinking I could probably check some of these out in person, up at Steam Cigs; they're somehow affiliated with ePipeMods, and they have a LOT of different kinds of mods. I could handle some of them and see if the bottom switch really was as awkward as it seems to me.

I did once learn to solder, but I never was very good at it, and I hated it. I don't even know if they do that kind of soldering anymore, with flux. It was nasty, such a stink. But I'm pretty sure my husband knows how; I really doubt there's anything mechanical he couldn't fix. I have a different kind of mechanical aptitude: I could screw up anything. :D :thumb:

My husband and I were both just about weak-kneed with relief; we were afraid of the usual things like cars hitting her, or that #$%#@ owl, or even something weird like someone had her in their house (though she's so timid of humans other than us, that last seems doubtful -- she's fast!). But she finally came trotting up, like, yeah, you paged me? :D

That situation, where I already have a perfectly functioning PV that I'm very fond of, but just want to get something *just in case* might be the only one in which I'd order from FastTech; I give a whole new definition to "impatient," but it would be more a rainy-day purchase than an oh-god-I-need-it-now. Of course I do want to get a 2nd iTaste battery, and I found a place last night that has the most outstanding price on them I've seen; just the battery, none of the other parts, but I really don't need a 2nd charger; with 2 batteries I could charge one fully while I'm still using the other, and not need the pass-thru thing I use now to make sure it stays charged.

Now if the IRS would just get off their butts and process our return. :D

Greetings.

Pack a day smoker smoking Marlboro Red for about 25 years of my life. Tried quitting at least ten time using anything and everything available from xantex, the patch, the gums, dip, pouches, and even a cig looking ecig by GreenSmoke.

About two months ago, still heavy smoking, i noticed two health symptoms that i never had before. First, a heart thing that i felt that seemed like either a murmer or a irregular beat. Something that i noticed that made me sit back from whatever i was doing to make sure i wasnt having a heart attack or something. Second, i had one bout of shortness of breath. The day i had the breathing problem, i went straight to the hospital. While driving myself to the hospital, i was thinking to myself, gonna get everything checked out and if there are no signs of illness, whether to my heart or lungs, i would give up my nasty habit of smoking. Long story shorter, after about two weeks of hospital tests, testing everything from my blood, ekg, to my heart, to a heart stress test, to a lung xray, to finally a lung stress test, everything thankfully checcked out normal or as normal as it could be after 25 years of smoking. What did i do continue to do during those two weeks? I continued to smoke and kept smoking after those two weeks when i got the hospital ok.

Pretty sad how much smoking had taken over my life.

I am married with a beautiful wife, and have two beautiful girls, ages 7 and 3. I am 43 years of age and want to grow old with my wife and see my kids grow up and get married and yadda yadda. I don't want my family to see me go out early because of smoking...

Thankfully a couple friends turned me onto vaping. Been smoke free as of February 26, 2014. Its only been about 10 days smoke free, but with each passing day, its become easier and easier. I havent had the heart symptom or shortness of breath since.

I thank my friends that turned me onto vaping, these forums and members showing their support and sharing their stories, and vaping, for hopefully saving my life.

Welcome! You came to the right place!! These folks have helped me so much, I don't know how I could have done it without 'em. And you're actually at 12 days, because today was my 10th -- my first smoke-free day was Feb 28! :thumb:

You're right about your family; I had to watch lung cancer take my dad, 8 yrs ago, and it was horrible -- and I was 45 yrs old! When I found out that the *idea* of e-cigs, the invention itself, has been around since 1963, I was furious; if BT hadn't squelched it, my dad would probably still be here. You really don't want your family to have to watch that, and I'm glad my son won't have to go thru that.

Keep on Vapin'!!

As an owner of a hammer clone, I would recommend going with another pipe style if you want to take it out and about. The hammer is heavy and not really all that comfortable to hold for long periods of time.

It is very cool looking though.

AndriaD, I'd recommend the Sigelei mods if you want something with a bottom side (aka pinky) button. The #1, #2, #8 (not to be confused with the 8W) and #20 (it might be 23,not sure) all have them. Can be found for $30-ish or less. Low $20's if you decide on a bottom button model.

Never ordered from these folks but Vapor Joe's posted deals with them a few times. They have some of the Sigelei I've mentioned:

http://www.vaportekusa.com/sigelei-mech-mods-1

desertvapes.com has under $25 bottom button models

EHPro also has a pinky button telescoping mod that gets good reviews but it's often in the $50-$60 range.
