May be my CDO
Preparation (or lack thereof):
- Manage to not notice that you are running out of your main flavor
- Go to fill your clearo
- Realize that you are out of your main flavor
- Realize that you haven't made up a new batch of base
- Realize that you have not transferred that recipe into the calculator you are now using
- See that you have two versions of the base you use in the ingredient list, and pick one at random, without looking at the details
- It's a simple recipe, so enter it in a hurry, and don't think about whether it looks like it makes sense
- Decide that it's not worth it to clean off the table - it's just one bottle, right - so set up right next to your laptop
Production:
- Get out your new scale that you haven't used yet
- Get out the last of your old batch of base - it looks like about the right amount
- Start weighing out the base
- Completely ignore the fact that the amount doesn't look right
- Remove cat from chair arm
- Use up all of the base when you haven't gotten to the amount you were planning yet
- Decide to add VG - you were thinking of lowering your nic, right?
- Pour VG directly from large bottle into small bottle, over scale
- Clean up spilled VG
- Let the dog out
- Tare the scale, then remember to get out the flavoring
- Eyeball the amount of flavoring left in the open bottle and decide that it looks like plenty
- Turn the scale back on, tare it again (30 ml is about 3/4 of a 60 ml bottle, isn't it?)
- Start adding the flavoring
- Drop the flavoring bottle (not empty yet) into your lap
- Clean up lap, chair, etc. without noting how much flavoring you've added yet
- Turn scale back on
- Realize that you really do have way more than 30 ml in that bottle
- Look at ingredient list and realize that the specific gravity of your second nic base is way off, and you are using that entry
- Let the dog back in
- Figure out how much you really have in the bottle, using the correct entry for nic base
- Remove cat from chair arm
- Adjust the recipe for the actual amount
- Try to remember how much flavoring you had already added
- Start adding what you think you still need what you think you still need, empty the bottle
- Dig through all of your flavorings to find the new bottle that you did get, thank goodness
- Remove cat from chair arm
- Vow to get yet another scale - one without auto shutoff
- Try to remember how much flavoring you had already added - guesstimate and add
- Close bottle, shake, label, and clean up
- Finish filling clearo - it actually isn't too bad
In the future I will, really I will:
- Keep track of how much made up liquid I have on hand, no matter how distracting life is being
- Really look at the recipe to be sure it makes sense
- Not ignore any nagging little feeling that something's not right
- Obey all those silly rules about getting the pets out of the way, clearing a good workspace, getting all of the ingredients out before starting
It could have been worse:
- I do make my base up in advance, so I wasn't dealing with 100 mg nic, but in the future I won't let my supply of it get so low
- I only spilled VG and flavoring - my chair smells like Earl Grey Tea on steroids, but no people or animals were harmed
- The juice isn't bad - a little over flavored, but it's had less than 10 minutes steeping
- I was planning on trying a lower nicotine batch anyhow (really, I was)
- The scale, laptop and table have a nice shine to them - who knew VG is a good furniture polish
- I didn't lose my temper, my sanity (what there is of it) or my sense of humor

Ah, yes. THAT is the reason I never got an istick. It don't have a replacable battery![]()

Hi PapaSloth , Yes I was doing the sums in the website and seemed to be the 26 would suit most needs well that being resistance target. Other names like heat flux and leg power loss started to climb when I changed gauges but sticking to the resistance and diameter.
Was hoping to try and work around 2 - 3 mm diameter.
I am waiting for one of these provari p3 to come out - Well actually an Australian site has a preorder $285 our money about $248 USA. They say ships from USA November 7 then it has to get to east coast Australia and then they send it out. Im going to wait and see what its selling for in the USA first.
Anyway I just noticed this today but the other day I thought ok If Im buying one of those then In the meantime I'll get a clone mod .
So i ordered a hana Dna30 mod clone by cloupor said updated chip , reviews vary but mostly good. Box mod that holds one 18650 battery and said to go to 30watts.
I ordered some aw 18650 2000mah batteries.
Don't listen to Flamingo regarding the spike strip.
Wolf;
Whether a piece of wire is straight or wrapped into a coil, the resistance is the same. Changing the size of loops does not change the resistance. The only thing that changes the resistance of a given gauge of wire is changing the length of the wire. If the calculator you're using shows an increase in resistance when larger loops are used, it's because it takes more wire to make 6 loops at 3mm diameter than it does to make 6 loops at 2mm diameter.
The "legs" are the straight ends of the piece of wire you use, measured from where the wire is no longer in a coil shape to where the wire makes contact with the posts of your atomizer. The distance between the positive post and negative post of your atomizer is not relevant to those measurements.
I waited for the experts to chime in before I responded, and quoted their posts, to make sure I wasn't giving any misinformation. I'm just telling you the same things that they were, but in different words.
You probably know this already, but the term "sub-ohming" generally is used to mean a coil that has less than 1.0 ohms of resistance. Cloud chasers might say that a coil needs to be WAY under 1.0 ohms to qualify as a sub-ohm coil, but they tend to be a little nuts. For me personally, sub-ohming is anything less than 1.5 ohms.
After you said that a dealer in Australia was accepting pre-orders for the Provari V3, I just had to go check it out. I'm guessing this is the place you're talking about: Steam-e-cigs | ProVari P3 Preorder - ProVari + accessories - Products
Congrats on the Cloupor DNA30. I love mine (both of them).
I've been trying to sleep for over 5 hours. I just can't!
I've been debating whether or not to buy a used Provari when I get paid. Well, my pay was deposited in my account a few hours ago.
I just have to do it!
Now, to wait for the person that owns the cheaper of the two to wake up. If that one is available, I will soon own a standard-sized Provari with a butterfly wrap. If that one is no longer available, then I'll try for the one that's just a tiny bit more, but has an extension cap.
If they're both gone? I'll pout. But, I'll at least not have to worry about how I'm going to be able to eat for the next two weeks.
See why I can't sleep? I never can sleep if I'm the least bit excited or nervous. So, no sleep for this girl tonight. Oh, well. I have to wake up in an hour or so anyway.

Done deal. My *new* black Provari will be in the mail today. I will soon no longer be a Provari virgin!
Sleep? Who needs sleep?
Do they even make a scale without auto-shutoff?Preparation (or lack thereof):
[*]Vow to get yet another scale - one without auto shutoff:
Hi Wolfenstark,
Both the Provari and the Hana DNA30 are variable wattage devices. Wattage (power) dictates how much vapor is generated, and the size of your coil will affect how much that wattage is spread over the wick. The more the power is spread out, the lower the temperature at any point. Generally speaking, as long as the temperature is hot enough the vaporize the juice, the lower the temperature is, the better the flavor will be. Since you'll be setting the wattage directly, this makes the final resistance of the coil somewhat less important. I'd probably go for the full 13 wraps or so at 2mm and shoot for around 1.5 Ohms, or maybe even go for 10 wraps at 3mm. Then, you can play around with the wattage until you find a setting you like.
If you had a mech mod, instead of a variable wattage device, the only way to increase the power would be to lower the resistance. Then, it would make more sense to build a smaller coil.
