Hi folks, I'm a total newbie. I've got a Vamo v5 which I'm just trying to get used to but already I think I'm going to love it.
Lost my brother in Feb due to his smoking analogs (is that the right word?). I've tried so many times to quit and failed but I'm really excited about vaping and already think I'm going to love it. Just dabbling at the moment. Working out how to use it and the technique is a bit different. First few tries I nearly choked myself.
Not very 'up' on the jargon lol but working on it, so please excuse me if I make a gaff. Look forward to getting to know new friends on here.
Hope I snipped ^^^ correctly. Nice photo! What is the advantage of a vertical coil? Abbreviated version for utter dummies is fine. Warmer vape, better wicking... ?
Whoa, that's cool, er hotHow did you wick that?
Just stopping in for a bit, work is taking up waaaay too much time.![]()
Both GrimmGreen and IndoorSmokers said that the Nautilus (with BVC's) had replaced their Kayfuns for daily usage.
Even though I cannot afford to buy vertical coils, I am vaping on one. Thanks, Mike. It really is easier, doesn't require a third hand for installation. Just stick the mandrel in the air-hole, and it holds the coil nice and straight and steady. Still breaking it in, it might have also resolved the leaking problem.

Hi, my name's Dave, and I also could not get through a full day on 2200 mah.I hate to admit it but I would vape away 2200 mah is about 4 or 5 hours. Tend to chain vape a lot.
Welcome, RedRuth, and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your brother.Hi folks, I'm a total newbie. I've got a Vamo v5 which I'm just trying to get used to but already I think I'm going to love it.

Subtle RBA snobbery, implying that those of us who have chosen not to travel the RBA road are not serious.Truth be told, I've yet to try one. With the continued uncertainty over the feds, I'm trying to keep everything in my arsenal to toppers I can recoil. A variety of glass, but all use single bottom coils. Rewound to my personal specs, with air flow bases.... and a bunch of KFs for serious vaping![]()
I wouldn't be surprised if the enthusiasm has calmed down some. It's the nature of the beast. I also use my Nautilus when I don't want to fiddle with rebuildables, but for me, that's ALWAYS.Me wonders if that's still true for them. I was thinking that also, for the 1st few days w/ a Nautilus, particularly, just change a head and vape again, no maintenance. i think the Naut/BVC is the best clearo topper I've used and compares well to rebuildables - but just not the same. Mine is now relegated to a backup and or gets added to the travel bag when we're away from home and I don't want to fiddle w/ rebuildables.
Rayon wicking. I am not sure which leg is on top. However, I was well aware of the short possibility, and squeezed the coil and heated it before installation. I also used my 3mm mandrel, and have 2.5Ω, so next time it will not be as many rounds. It may be my favorite build for the Russian, since the chimney is narrower and taller than the Orchid.Yay! Nice! I'm glad its worked out for you. What are you using for wicking?
Just be careful with that long lead, so it doesn't have a chance of causing a direct short. There was a preferred 'leg' (either the positive or negative) to use as the long leg to minimize shorting concerning. But for the live of me I can't remember whether the one is my picture was done the 'preferred' way.

Hi folks, I'm a total newbie.
From the Google pics I looked at, the vote is 11 to 5 in your favor.![]()
Redruth,
For Gary, I can only think of two probable reasons for juice in da mouth with a BVC equipped Nautilus:
- defective Nautilus from manufacturer (highly unlikely) <although it appears BB did have a lil' topper issue of an unknown cause>
- improper owner reassembly (very possible and more than likely)
For those totally dissatisfied with their N/BVCs, I strongly suspect that a 'partial' resolution is available via a PM.

But my point is... flavor sux. Now it could be it doesn't make "too" much difference with a baccy flavor. But since I rarely use baccy flavors it's a real problem for me.
Cool! I have 3 cats (well, they let me tend to their needs. They ARE cats!) So now I can get presents from each of them, too!
Yes you do. Think of it as Boxing Day.With three cats you ought to score some excellent vape stuff.

You are assuming that you can still buy "drug paraphilia" when the FDA gets done deciding what's what..in 2 (3?) years when the iStick's battery no longer holds a charge...you'll toss it out and get another (probably
in 2 (3?) years when the 2-3 18650's you're rotating in your mech mod no longer hold a charge you'll toss them out and pay for 2-3 more
I have Vamo's too, and I love them ... you did good.Hi folks, I'm a total newbie. I've got a Vamo v5 which I'm just trying to get used to but already I think I'm going to love it.

At least we all think soWelcome to the porch, Redruth! Best place with best folks.![]()

I can always buy batteries, but you can always buy a bunch of iStick's for future use too (known as "backup")
I'm not anti what your saying, but personally, I always buy so that I can keep on vaping no matter what happens![]()
There are different types of regulated mods (variable voltage, variable wattage, and now variable temperature). My comments mainly apply to variable wattage, where the mod IS trying to maintain the wattage you set regardless of resistance. Variable voltage and variable wattage can be made to do the same thing, but a little math is involved to adjust when the resistance of a new coil is installed in the atty. Variable temperature is new (DNA40), and will use changes in the resistance of the coil due to heat to determine the temperature of the coil, and will dynamically adjust wattage to keep the temperature of the coil within a limit that the user sets.
Since your devices are both variable wattage, it doesn't matter much whether you build to a 0.5 Ohm coil or a 1.0 Ohm coil. 30W at .5 ohms is the same power as 30W at 1 Ohm, it's just spread out a bit differently. So, the drain on the battery will be pretty much the same (excluding the efficiency of the circuitry).
Note that some variable wattage devices will only work with coils that are built above a certain resistance. That will be one of the specs on your device, and the maximum amp draw will be another spec.
I like this theory. Now, if the dog is 80 lb. and two of the cats are over 16 lb., does that mean I can count each of them twice?
Hello, and welcome, Redruth! Don't worry about the jargon. There are even those of us stick-in-the-mud English fanatics that still call cigarettes cigarettes, not analogs and liquid liquid, not juice.![]()
