They are great after they get the block done, but going through the process and finding the right nerve to block is where the pain comes from.

Except apparently they don't always work. Her's didn't help at all, and has actually caused more pain afterwards than she had before it was done. Doc suggested doing it again (because it appears that sometimes they have to do it 2-3 times to get it right  ), Bride said "Not no, but hell no!". He gave her stronger pills.

Does anybody know the best place online to keep up with what is going on withe the storm? I mean news, not hysteria.

Last night I was watching The Weather Channel streaming live online. But today I'm having issues finding a suitable site; probably due to traffic load.

I missed my own birthday, lol. I've had my Mom in ICU since Sunday, finally was able to bring her home yesterday. You know how you get so concentrated on one thing that not much else gets your attention? Hubby & daughter had cards and gifts ready, what sweeties.

Happy belated Birthday, Sweetheart!

I had no issue with receiving the nerve block. But had one heck of a time when it wore off; not enough 'good stuff' early enough...

You may have answered this already early on so forgive me for asking. Are these trial drugs supposed to shrink/eliminate the tumors or put Bride in remission?

And I would like to say, even though I dont know you as well as other porchers, I am following your trials and hoping for good results. Hubby and I are in our 60s and cancer and Alzheimer's are in our families - cancer in hubby's and I'm likely to get A. They are our nightmare but that's nothing compared to you and your bribe living your nightmare. I'm the "fixer" in my family and I wish I could fix this for you and end this nightmare. ((((Hugs))))

We have C in men & heart on one side of our family & bp/cholesterol/strokeg alz on the other side. I plan on being the black sheep on both sides! I've already defeated a blocked artery!

Thank you, Bea! {{{{{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}}}

The trial drugs are basically supposed to shrink/eliminate tumors and hopefully buy us some more time together. She is in fairly advanced Stage 4 with metastasis. The original tumor was colo-rectal and was located in the rectum very near the sphincter. It metastasized to the lungs. Surgery was done to remove the tumor from the rectum, and a permanent colostomy was placed. A second surgery was done later on to remove mets from the lungs. The mets have returned to the right lung with quite a few more in the chest wall and near the liver. She has already been through all of the standard protocol treatments (radiation, chemotherapy, surgery) and none of it has worked, and that is why we are looking at clinical trials at this point. The doctors say that remission is highly unlikely, and they just want to improve her quality of life and give her as much time as they can.

Thank you for following along with us. That is the main reason that I have been so open about sharing our journey. We both want others to know her story, and we hope that the sharing of it will help someone in some way or another. My Bride is 46 years old and has no history of cancer in her family. Her grandmother had Type 1 Diabetes and Alzheimer's, so I am fully aware of the fear that you feel from it and the nightmares that it can cause. My Bride also has Type 1 Diabetes, and she constantly worries that she may very well inherit the Alzheimer's that her grandmother suffered from. I'm right there with you on being the "fixer", and I so wish that I could tell you that everything is going to be okay, and that you will definitely be spared from that awful disease. All that I can offer, though, is the knowledge that love and faith can carry us through many, many things that we wouldn't otherwise believe ourselves capable of enduring. :)
rough journey.. my thoughts are with the both of you.

Does anyone have a camper or camp? I'm looking into the possibility of getting a 2nd hand hybrid (regular camper with pop out tent beds). Not a popup. Anyone float down a river in a tube?

Tubing is really popular on the Guadelupe & nearby tributaries around Austin. There's a whole tourist industry built up around it. I've never been but the rest of my family has. Don't forget an ice chest sized tube for water or beer! And no littering in the river!

Thank you, Kross. :) We truly appreciate it! She has really wonderful doctors (for the most part), and they're doing everything they can for her. MD Anderson really has done an exceptional job of handling her case so far. :)

Yeah... he's stubborn as a mule, but he's resourceful. I'm sure that he's staying more for the animals than for any other reason. They've got goats, chickens, pigs, and I think a couple emus. Too much to try to take with him, that's for sure.

G'luck, Darlin'! :nun::wub:

haven't had a nerve block done. Yipes! Don't know if they do those here. lmao on the air freshener.
I vaped a nasty cigalike from tje bottom of my purse when I was stuck without med's for the last 3 days in the rehab after my last surgery. I'd had my sister bring an air freshner for me since I hate the smell in hospitals & nursing homes or rehabs. I've had nauseating roommate experiencesn sor air freshner is a must have!

That's what I do with batteries. One thing worries me a little. They say leaving batteries fully charged is bad. But I charge them after I use them, and put them in a row so I can take the one off the front that's been there the longest. My batteries spend most of their time sitting in the stand fully charged waiting for their turn. I don't worry too much though. Still using the first batteries I bought a couple of years ago. Don't know what my yearly cost of batteries will be but not much.
My singles are numbered & I use them in numerical order. My married batts are marked alphabetically & stored in their pairs in marked cases. I use them in order also.

Smart woman.

There are many, many reasons that I love that woman... one of them is that she tells it like it is.

When it comes to pain - you have to remember the doctor isn't feeling anything and unless you speak up - he will figure you are alright...

Yep, when it wears off it is for a short while worse than the pain that they were trying to fix...

Orlando will get a ton of rain and some winds, but they should not be seeing 100+ winds. As long as they are in a sturdy building they should be fine. Two of my relatives on the East Coast went to Orlando to ride it out...

She is that! It didn't take me long to figure out that I'd never be able to pull anything over on her.

Very true. The only thing that we never liked about that pain management doctor is that he was always pushing to do a nerve block. She finally let him do it, it didn't work, and now he finally seems to be able to move on and offer her other treatment options. We still joke and call him "Dr. Nerve Block" though.

I know that they bought an odd house. It is octagon shaped, and is supposed to be good for dealing with strong winds and stuff... the only thing I really worry about is their barn. I just don't know how sturdy it is. Hopefully everything holds up and all the critters will be fine.

I don't like big foggy clouds, but it seems to be the eliquid that determines how much I get. I prefer 70% pg, but seems a lot only offer all vg or 50/50. Sets off my smoke detectors, which is a pain. Next pay will order some mix your own supplies. Need a battery charger for my radius, and a spare battery. But I still only own 4 units in working order.
...
when I go to places where vaping is frowned upon, I make sure to have a hanky handy to exhale into. People just assume an old guy with a hanky at his mouth is completly innocent.

...

So good to see you back! I had gotten FA peach and black tea some time back, before I knew a sweet tea was made, but think I will be getting both from CAP at some point. I made a decent peach tea, but nothing to get super excited over. If anyone wants the percentages for this......it's roughly 3% peach and 2% tea. This gave me .9 mls of peach and .6mls of tea. I went for the strong tea flavor. Hate weak tea.
...
with the Capella, the stronger the tea tast, the weaker the peach.

....AND I missed a quote in there somewhere

Hurricane news can be had at www.wunderground.com. Bring up orland for central Florida and click the severe weather bar at the top to look at general outlook for the bigger stuff like storms.

No, i do not vape zero nic , why would i vape zero nic ? I am not one of those people who gets all excited about blowing clouds , i have seen these clouds before , not very exciting.

I am guessing you want to engage me that nicotine is what i should worry about and not diketones but i am not buying it .

Not even worth bringing up actually .
Actually no that's not it I just wondered. I tried 0 nic for a little while and for me the flavor was different so I went to 3mg. It might just be me but I really think the flavor is different with no nic. From my understanding nic is not a carcinogen anyway. I started at 36mg nic plus was smoking too. That was in 09 took me about a year to completely get off the smokes also. I honestly don't care what you vape everyone is different. I know what I like and that is what I vape. I occasionally try different flavors but usually just different combos of what I like.
