Yesterday, I was working in the yard. I stopped for a break, surprising how often I have to do that, and my KF V5 leaked all over my hand. A close look and I noticed a crack in the glass. I had a vape ring on it, too. This is the second time I have broken the glass on a KF V5. The bad thing is that I do not remember bumping it or dropping it. Oh well, for now, I have 5 extra glass pieces or whatever they are called.
How do you carry it? Maybe carry it differently or put an extra vape band on it?

Either that or maybe carry something less fragile while working in the yard?

Good luck!

I used carto-tanks without breaking one for a long time. Then, in one week, I broke two.

If I am mowing, I keep it in my hand. When edging I keep it in a front pocket all by its self.
Right now I have 5 extra glass pieces so I might make an order.
I do have a question about DIY e-juice. I have been using fruit flavored e-juice. I have some recipes for cream flavor e-juice. Since I will be using creams will I have to steep the e-juice longer? For my fruit e-juices, I just do a shake and vape. If I do steep, should the e-juices be left uncovered or covered and for how long?

Yup, better safe than sorry. I wonder if the vibration from the lawn mower is breaking your glass.

Uncovered is only for eliquids that smell perfumey. And, even then, only for a short time.

I haven't used creams much. But, people in the DIY forum say that they need a fair amount of steeping. You might ask there about the specific flavorings you're thinking of using.

It is a riding mower and I may have hit it on the steering wheel. I had not thought of that. Thanks for the suggestion.
I will make smaller batches to get me to a point that I can give steeping a good try. I had thought about asking in the DIY section but I value the opinions of my friends on the front porch. Besides, this thread has been slow so I thought I might start some conversations.

I find that most creams do need to steep. At least a week. As Dancing says, if it's not perfumy or containing alcohol, steeping capped is fine. They may be fine as shake and vape, but will improve with some age.
I vape mostly a bourbon custard. I mix 90ml, shake it & set the bottle in a jar of hot water. The heat warms the liquid so it is thinner & easier to shake & mix well. I make it while I still have about 30ml of the last batch left so it stops at least a week before I get to it. The week minimum works for me.

I have a question. How many people have mods that take bigger batteries than 18650s?

I was intending to never have anything bigger. Didn't want to have to take care of more sizes of batteries.

Then I saw a used Big Nasty for only $32 including shipping and 2 new 18650 batteries. I just couldn't resist!

When I use creams and/or custard flavorings in recipes, they used to take about a week to "be their best", IMO. Then I got a little Norpro Deluxe Mini Mixer on eBay (about $7), and after using it...they're great in only 2-3 days.

The only time I personally let a new eliquid sit totally open, is to evaporate off the ethyl alcohol in it before I vape it. It's not good for your lungs. So, after I've either shaken the beegeebees out of it, or used the little mixer with it, to cause bunches of little bubbles...I let it sit totally open until all the bubbles pop and a white ring forms just above the top of the eliquid. The EA is gone then, and I vape it.

I have a pair of Aegis that take 26650 batteries, but they included sleeves to allow the use of 18650s. Since I didn't have any 26650s at the time I started using them with my 18650s. It turned out that the 18650s lasted long enough to empty my Nautilus tanks, so I never bothered to get any 26650 batteries.

Wait a minute! I seem to remember getting a sleeve like that for one of my mods. I can't remember which one. So, somewhere I do have another mod that takes a 26650.

I'll have to go hunting tonight after work, a treasure hunt!

None here. Likewise, didn't want to bother with another size battery, and, of course, anything that takes a bigger one will be physically bigger to contain it. Didn't want the extra size in my fist :)

As @pwmeek mentioned, a sleeve can let you use the 18650s.

Thanks, everyone, loads of good information. I had originally thought it would take 2 or 3 weeks for steeping. When I make my juice, I let it steep in a hot water bath in a small crockpot for at least 2 days. Then it sets for about a week while I finish off the batch I had made earlier. So, steep in hot water for at least 2 days at times 3 (I get lazy) then bottle and let it sit until I finish the old batch. In reality, about 10 days total steep time. This is why I love everyone on the porches. :toast:

I also have a mod that will take a pair of 26650 batteries but can use 18650 batteries thanks to the included plastic sleeves... It's a GTRS Vboy, an excellent Yihi-chipped mod with one drawback: depressing the power button takes too much pressure because the spring is way too strong.

For any newish vapers who might not know, 26650 batteries are bigger in diameter but are the same length as 18650 batteries. First 2 numbers is the battery diameter in mm, next 2 numbers is the battery length in mm.

I've so far avoided buying any 26650 batteries.

I thought tobaccos & creams were the only thing that need steeping. Those containing alchohol need breathing to let that evaporate out. Too much heat for too long may change the mix in bad ways? I never heat mine but just long enough to make it easy to shake, & might do that 2 or 3 times over a week long period. Then it's happy & just sits till I need it. Just need all the flavor molecules to mix & bond & be friends. Fruits & the like I didn't think needed heat except maybe to make it shakeable, & then maybe sit overnight.

I checked and the temperature of the small crockpot is 106º. Not a high heat but enough to help mesh the flavors.

That's a bit more than I do :) Should be enough to know!

I steep capped on a dark shelf, shake every time I remember  for about a week.

I'm thinking that's about it, too. Custards?

Custards fall in the creams group. I think.
