@MikeE3, here is a superb mod that handles the 24mm Silverplay very well. I wound up buying six after trying it out. Good price with free shipping here:

asMODus Colossal 80W TC Box Mod | Touch Screen device powered by a single 18650

On this page, the Green is advertised at $29.99. It's really pretty in person and looks great with a silver or rainbow Silverplay on top.

VaporRange.com | Your Online Vape Store. Free US shippping. Our vapor shop offers free shipping to the US with unbelievable pricing on the best box mod to the cheapest mods on sale.

Mike even clicking through on the 2nd link showing the green at $29 to actually order it ... it goes back up to 'full' price like the other colors.

Is the mod a slippery mod to hold onto. The finish looks quite slick/smooth in the pictures I've seen?

@MikeE3 . . .

@MikeADore wasn't sure "We" should tell Ya' or not, however MFS has Zenith Coils (in varying oHm's) and there is a 17% Sale too ( 17OFFALL ) . . . He got some & so did I (along w/a couple of Zenith & Zilde Tanks too, especilly at that price - Didn't see any for less elsewhere). Anyway - hope there are enough left of the ones you & Janet use /want . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

.

he, he ... you guys! Go check my answer to this in the 'stocking thread'.

Mike, I sent you a PM in case you wanted to talk more about it, but two basic things come to mind:
1) I wonder if you're being a bit too fine with the wicking. With that double chamber where you just lay the wick into the slots, there is no need to thin it. Also, I wait to trim the wick after I put the top cap back on and just whack whatever is sticking outside the chambers.
2) I always close off the air control when filling. When it's full, I put the cap on and, before opening the air flow, I turn it upside down over the trash can and give it a couple of the Phil Busardo "Get Thee Behind Me Satan" shakes to get rid of any excess. I do this with just about all tanks to eliminate gurgling. Open the air flow and go.

Here is a good video on building and wicking the Silverplay. You can start at about the 5 minute mark and still get the gist of it:

I just got one myself... been watching lots of videos (going to try it very soon)
First thing to know is about the two "sleeves" above the build deck (also for juice flow control) First time you take it apart (I know, you already have, but maybe this will help others) be careful. Pull it off with the top piece screwed on (twist clockwise or top just unscrews) Guy on a video couldn't get it off and used pliers (with no cap on it) and made it out of round... ruined) After you get it off just put a bit of juice inside so it lubes o-ring. Saw two different ways to wick this (will try both) but be careful that the juice (wick) holes line up with coil and after adjusting juice flow it may move (too tight... not enough flow, too loose... flooding) Little airlfow adapter is up to preference, but for those that like lots of flow, can use it without any insert. I'm going to try a 3mm ID coil and lots of cotton. Most people used "regular" method trimming just outside juice holes, but one guy did the inside "dam" method (I will try this if I can't avoid flooding) Smaller ID coils won't have enough cotton IMO or require closing juice flow way down. The one thing everyone agreed is it has great flavor! I've done the homework but that don't mean nothing... wish me luck. My mod is only 22mm wide... don't care... I can live with a little overhang. Hoping to get an OBS cube. Anyone else with this RTA (the 2018 not the older ones) feel free to send me a PM... would love to talk.

Thanks guys for the tops on the Silverplay. I did figure out what I was doing wrong. Just like you each said, I was leaving the 'juice' flow ring 'too open' which caused the flooding. I'm using a 2.5mm coil, wicked with rayon. I don't trim the tails like most other atty's I wick. Just put the tails 'full thickness' into place in the sleeves. Then trimmed them off 'flat' to the sleeves surface just leaving them stick out a bit, not totally flush.

Here's my quick tour for anyone else following along.

Unboxing ... shows the air flow rings. I'm using the middle one and can get a very tight to loose enough for direct to lung vape with it. I haven't even tried the other 2 yet. (I did see a vid
eo where the person very carefully changed the air flow control without taking the coil/wick out.

1-IMG_5793.jpg

2-IMG_5801.jpg

The wick/coil chamber. Unscrew the top to remove the sleeves.

3-IMG_5803.jpg

Outside sleeve removed. This is the one to spin/turn around the inside sleeve to control juice flow/wicking.

4-IMG_5808.jpg

Inside sleeve removed. When putting this one back on after coiling/wicking, align the openings w/ the wick.

5-IMG_5807.jpg

The build deck. Whoo-hoo ... it's gold plated. The air flow restricter is not inserted yet.

6-IMG_5804.jpg

OK ... here was my problem. I left the juice flow sleeve wide open on my 1st go-around. I though my wick was 'full' enough to 'control/plug' the opening from flooding but obviously it wasn't.

7-IMG_5806.jpg

I close the outer sleeve a bit more than 1/2 way and it's been working fine since.

8-IMG_5805.jpg

@Flowersoul ... so what you think? Too many pieces for you? It's a really nice tasting vape. Might 'taste' better than my expensive real-deal KFL 2019's ... and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Actually, not too many pieces, and I would probably favor one air flow thingy and stick with it. If I decide to get one, then I will definitely refer to your post here and also I'm an avid YouTube student. I probably missed the sale and don't even remember where/when I saw it.

Wow! You really do like them! How about the Podstick? I see them on FT for preorder, but I'm hesitant. I also have the Rincoe, and I am amazed at that one, also.....vapor, flavor and long lasting and quite the stealth vape. $14.39 Authentic Rincoe Neso 370mAh Pod System Starter Kit - 2ml / 1.3ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

MikeE3, great pics! I just tried the different airflow inserts and the smaller holes are fine for me. Actually, I can't imagine anyone using it with no insert. So you used 2.5 with wick holes wide open (did you say rayon wick?) That explains it. I'm trying a 3.0 mm but will also try 2.5 and close down wick holes (was very curious whether to close with tall narrow slot (like you did) or angled slot (kinda cool you have a choice) Please give details about the coil... all I have is 26 ga Kanthal, but also have a 3mm pre-wound clapton to try later. Does anyone think a "twisted pair" would be overkill for this? I'll try bigger airflow insert for the clapton and twisted pair coils. I love how versatile this thing is! I've been doing MTL with a Nautilus X tank mostly, and playing with a dripper for taste testing, so very excited about this. What VG/PG ratio is your juice? Someone gave me a used UD Bellus dual coil RTA... it leaks (working that out) but was my first experience with DTL. I liked it but forgot I was using 12 mg nic and was too much for me. Mixing some 6 mg for the Silverplay.

Just wanted to mention folks... even though I'm 59, doing DIY juices makes me feel like a kid with a new chemistry set! Having so much fun and now doing rebuildables. I love this hobby (obsession) I bounce between my tobacco mix and fruit/bakery juices during the day (apple pie, french toast, ect) I do need stronger reading glasses for doing coils/builds.

Yes, my coil is 29g Kanthal, 2.5mm id, 7 wraps for ~1.7Ω's. I split a piece of the Grahm's rayon in 1/2 then slightly thin that out for the wick. My failed attempts where with the juice ring wide open. Then I closed it off about 1/2 to 3/4 of the opening. I thought maybe that would be too much, but it's wicking fine.

I didn't pay attention to which of the two 'shaped' juice control openings I used. I'm 73 and my eyes have a hard time seeing which is which (the difference is so slight) even with magnifiers over my specs.

From the geometry of this 'thing' I think it may have been designed for big 3 to 3.5mm coils. I wind my own have my standard across all my different RTA's is what I listed above. I may in the coming weeks give a 3mm wick a try in the Silverplay.

MikeE3, that coils is fine for a full blown MTL tank, but I feel the Silverplay is more of a loose MTL or restricted DTL. Try a 3mm and thicker wire. I haven't even built it yet (didn't have wire and been busy... not by choice but that's a long story) I have been doing my homework... watched every video on YT twice and took notes. Thanks for the hands on info... will make this easier for me.
BTW, you can get cheap reading glasses at max magnification (even "dollar stores" have them) Good light helps.
Only bad review was Jai Haze but he's picky about aesthetics and stuff (didn't like the gold build deck) Grimm Green couldn't stop saying how he loves it!

As for being slippery, it is a smooth surface but I've never found it slippery and haven't heard anyone else say so. It's actually quite small and easy to hold, though it is heavier than you would think.

I don't know. I feel like I'm doing a sale job on you, and that is not my intent. I just find it a terrific mod, and many on the stocking up thread also bought multiples of it.

By the way, you might want to look around on ejuices.com today and see what they have. They're having a 31 percent off sale today for all orders over $40. They also have Zenith coils but only the .8 are available. Code is: NOTRICK

yeah, me too. If the dang deeming hammer weren't coming down I'd likely have bought one to try, then get more if we liked them. In this period of vaping I'm rarely buying one of anything new. Just going for 4-6 of 'em at a time. If the deeming falls through by some miracle of the vaping Gods, I'll have enough stock to open my own B&M.

To be fair you are buying for both you and Janet. So larger quantities make sense.

I however do not have that excuse.

I have exited stock up phase AND passed through insurance items phase. Now I am in "OOOOOO SHINY" phase.
