Got a TC question. Now that I have a pair of TC40W when the battery on one runs out I can swap the tank to a new device and vape on. However when I swap the tank its already warm and not at room temperature. Since the chip uses the temperature of the tank at room temperature to base the temp control on, what do I do to make the new device aware of what the room temp resistance is? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks, bigbells! I bet I was getting the Kanger products mixed up with what I have used for several years now. I have had the same five batteries, some Kanger, some I don't remember, from ordering online. We have kept every receipt for over four and a half years and my monthly costs are sometimes only three to five dollars!

One thing I have plenty experience in is economics. I am a huge fan or Thorstein Veblen (theory of conspicuous consumption). I started saving every month at age twenty (so did the guy I married). Since we did not fall for children and large houses and never fell victim to the American Hypnotic Society instead of MENSA, I am immune to being pitched to. When my husband and I were students in Cambridge, he wound up with a minor in advertising and we still to this day read from I Can Sell You Anything. Please don't get me wrong, we are not cheap!!! We were just taught to see through tons of BS and pretentiousness. We do not even have any sort of cable thanks to our several libraries. We don't seem to fit anywhere and wish we did because it's very depressing for us. I write music and do art projects to pay bills and he has kind of an unconventional job as well.

The info you have sent is greatly appreciated! Thank you! I am going to try some of these products out! :)
I have two Istick TC40W and like them very much.

Short answer: You can't do that. Your choices are to either wait until the coil has cooled to room temperature (which takes between one and two minutes in my guesstimation), or to accept what the mod reads as the room temperature resistance even if the actual resistance is lower.

Different short answer: You can do that, in some cases, if the coil is the same one that was previously on the mod before you recharged it, by selecting "same coil" IF the mod asks you if the coil is "same coil" or "new coil".

Sounds GREAT, Matt! Thank you! Bigbells spoke highly of these models, too!

Dang it! I had quotes from 3 or 4 pages and was trying to get it to put the quotes in when the power went out in a town about 30 miles away and took down our internet service all afternoon/evening. It kept me logged in here the whole time but wiped out my quotes. :grr: Honest, I wasn't being a peeping Tom all day.

The petition is at 43,672 right now. :D

Yeah, but did you not ask for suggestions regarding getting some new gear? We certainly have no interest in trying to talk you into spending money on something new unless you, of your own volition, are actively seeking to improve your vaping experience. :)

Any chance you've got any of your music available on YouTube or elsewhere? We'd love to hear some!

oh that stinks. Well, the petition is great, but the other part stinks. You know you were peepin! hehehe

One reason I love my reos! they're pricier on the outset, but once you get your mod and atomizers, all ya buy is wire and cotton, wrap your coils and you're set. If you ever decide you'd like to try doing your own coils, there are lots of folks here that can help and with a coil master coil jig it is really easy. They're also vapocalypse proof

The Isticks are great by what everyone says about them, but I always tended to shy away from mods where you couldn't replace the battery. Once it dies, you have to replace the mod. Now with them trying to do away with vaping, I'd definitely shy away from them. Any battery whether in the mod or replaceable is only good for 300 - 500 charging cycles.

So, what kind of delivery device (ie, topper, clearo, thingie that holds the juice that you screw on to the battery) do you currently use? And do you have any of your music uploaded somewhere?

The most common move from a fixed-voltage device such as a Kanger Evod is to an adjustable-power device. Kanger Evod can also refer to the delivery device because Kanger chose to give a battery and a clearomizer the same name. It can be confusing. Debadoo has suggested another direction that also has a lot of devotees, a Reo, which keeps the fixed voltage but improves the method of juice delivery. Reos are "squonkers", that get the juice from the tank to the atomizer (the coil that vaporizes the juice) by having the user manually squeeze a plastic bottle contained within the device. There is a slight tendency for some Reo users to be obsessive fanatics about their devices, but Debadoo is of course not one of them, not as long as she's got a frying pan anyway. ;-)

hehehe and just to be clear, wasn't suggesting she get a reo, just giving her some things to think about for the future. Newp, not fanatical at all

Holy Geez - that last coil had a lot of windings ... what kind/gauge of wire were you using?

I use the Kanger Subtank and used to use other Kanger clearomizers, but I have never used a Kanger PV (personal vaporizer).

Asking someone at a brick and mortar shop what a "step up" would be from your current Evod PV is just asking for them to try to sell you the most expensive mod they can talk you into buying.

Are you looking to change your "topper" (the part where the eliquid is vaporized and to which the drip tip, AKA mouthpiece is attached), or are you looking to change your PV (personal vaporizer, the part where the battery is located), or both?

For PV, many people are happy (and some not so happy) with eLeaf iSticks. Most of the iStick models have integrated batteries, which means you wouldn't have to purchase a battery charger and separate batteries. My personal recommendation would be to get a couple of iStick TC 40W PVs. The power button is more comfortable on that model than the power button on the iStick 20W, the iStick 30W or the iStick 50W. You can get the iStick TC 40W for $27.75, with free shipping, when you enter the coupon code SUMMER15 at:
http://www.rockymountainvapor.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=88_94&products_id=414

Others will have other suggestions I'm sure. That's just what I think I would get if I were you, which I'm pretty sure I'm not.

Suzette - I'm another that would say the iStick TC40 would be a decent upgrade from a basic setup. But like someone else said - at the price point and w/ a built in battery it's should be considered as a disposable purchase. Depending on you vaping habits it could last 1 to 5 years probably.

Matt - does the TC40 have a feature when changing attys that ask - Same or new atty? If it does when you're sure the atty is 'cool' put it on each of the TC40's to read the base resistance.

I set both batteries when I put in a new coil and lock the ohm reading. After that when the tanks are changed everything stays the same.

I think that's what I am going to do. I don't want to get another Triton Tank yet because I am not sure yet that I like it. It is a really airy, cool vape and I like a warmer and slightly tighter vape. Yes it has air control for the airy part but the vape is still kind of cool. Of course I am not sure how high I can adjust the temp before the rayon wick scorches. Is there a table anywhere that gives you a "maximum" temperature for each type of wicking material. If I can solve some of these problems then TC may be a great thing for me. I like that coils and wicks last aa long time and the device prevents burnt coils and juice. I will say that it sucks up some juice. Probably consumes half again as much juice as my KF does in regular VW mode.

Another thing is that the TC40W doesn't always ask the "new or same" question when the topper is removed and reinstalled. It didn't even ask if it was a new coil when I turned it on this morning. Also can someone please tell me whether a "temp protection" alert is good or bad. Right now the device is set at 400 degrees and the coil resistance is 0.15 ohms. The TC40W keeps the wattage adjustment at 40 watts when in temp control mode. Thanks for answering all these questions. I feel like a darn noob but, of course where TC is concerned I guess I am. Just strange to be wearing the shoe on a different foot. :)

Just saw a news story where some 18 year old kid in Naples, FL had his mod blow up in his face. They interviewed his mom in front of the hospital and of course she condemned the whole industry stating that E-cigarettes were dangerous and shouldn't be sold. Ten bucks says he was a cloud chaser on an unregulated mechanical mod with a dripper on top. Probably using an under-rated battery as well as an ultralow ohm coil. Of course I don't know any of that but, the regulated devices these days protect you from just about everything. The industry is moving toward safety not risk but, you can lead a horse to water etc.

Hey now they have to be like their youtube reviewer heroes and vape at .2 or less. On a mech with a uber claptonized coil.
