When the mod doesn't ask, it usually is presuming that it's still the same coil. If the resistance is off by a certain amount (I don't know what the amount is), then the mod will ask whether it's new or the same. If the resistance is WAY off, the mod will sometimes switch itself out of TC mode into power mode, but that doesn't happen often.Another thing is that the TC40W doesn't always ask the "new or same" question when the topper is removed and reinstalled. It didn't even ask if it was a new coil when I turned it on this morning. Also can someone please tell me whether a "temp protection" alert is good or bad. Right now the device is set at 400 degrees and the coil resistance is 0.15 ohms. The TC40W keeps the wattage adjustment at 40 watts when in temp control mode. Thanks for answering all these questions. I feel like a darn noob but, of course where TC is concerned I guess I am. Just strange to be wearing the shoe on a different foot.![]()
The flashing "temp protection" is not really an alert, and it's a good thing. It means the set temperature has been reached and the mod is reducing power. It can happen many many times during a single pull.
The actual ignition temperature of rayon is higher than anything you can set with a TC mod, but it doesn't have to catch fire to taste burnt, in my opinion. I wouldn't go above 450 F, and probably not that high. If you start at 200 F and bump up the temp one increment at a time, you will find where you like it best.
I find myself moving the temperature up or down a few times during any 24 hour period, in order to get the kind of vape I want at the moment.
