We got ya right where we want you, underestimating our abilities to get you to buy something that you don't yet know you need.

Another thing is that the TC40W doesn't always ask the "new or same" question when the topper is removed and reinstalled. It didn't even ask if it was a new coil when I turned it on this morning. Also can someone please tell me whether a "temp protection" alert is good or bad. Right now the device is set at 400 degrees and the coil resistance is 0.15 ohms. The TC40W keeps the wattage adjustment at 40 watts when in temp control mode. Thanks for answering all these questions. I feel like a darn noob but, of course where TC is concerned I guess I am. Just strange to be wearing the shoe on a different foot. :)
When the mod doesn't ask, it usually is presuming that it's still the same coil. If the resistance is off by a certain amount (I don't know what the amount is), then the mod will ask whether it's new or the same. If the resistance is WAY off, the mod will sometimes switch itself out of TC mode into power mode, but that doesn't happen often.

The flashing "temp protection" is not really an alert, and it's a good thing. It means the set temperature has been reached and the mod is reducing power. It can happen many many times during a single pull.

The actual ignition temperature of rayon is higher than anything you can set with a TC mod, but it doesn't have to catch fire to taste burnt, in my opinion. I wouldn't go above 450 F, and probably not that high. If you start at 200 F and bump up the temp one increment at a time, you will find where you like it best.

I find myself moving the temperature up or down a few times during any 24 hour period, in order to get the kind of vape I want at the moment.

Just saw a news story where some 18 year old kid in Naples, FL had his mod blow up in his face. They interviewed his mom in front of the hospital and of course she condemned the whole industry stating that E-cigarettes were dangerous and shouldn't be sold. Ten bucks says he was a cloud chaser on an unregulated mechanical mod with a dripper on top. Probably using an under-rated battery as well as an ultralow ohm coil. Of course I don't know any of that but, the regulated devices these days protect you from just about everything. The industry is moving toward safety not risk but, you can lead a horse to water etc.

Can't find the pic/video now, but from what I could tell, it was a mech mod with a full size Subtank on it. Couldn't tell if it was a ?hybrid? mod and he used an incompatible topper.

There is a thread about it here. https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...is-just-made-the-front-page-of-drudge.709694/

There's a picture in that thread. They seemed to have pretty reached the same conclusion as you have but it's hard to tell from the picture they have to work with. The drip tip exploded in his throat? Yeah, right.

I was mistaken (not wrong ;)) about this, I found the article/website, I will post a broken link.

I think that's what I am going to do. I don't want to get another Triton Tank yet because I am not sure yet that I like it. It is a really airy, cool vape and I like a warmer and slightly tighter vape. Yes it has air control for the airy part but the vape is still kind of cool. Of course I am not sure how high I can adjust the temp before the rayon wick scorches. Is there a table anywhere that gives you a "maximum" temperature for each type of wicking material. If I can solve some of these problems then TC may be a great thing for me. I like that coils and wicks last aa long time and the device prevents burnt coils and juice. I will say that it sucks up some juice. Probably consumes half again as much juice as my KF does in regular VW mode.

I think BigBells covered it pretty good. You're very unlikely to burn the rayon as long as it's wet no matter how high you set the temp. And even if it drys out ... temp protect will kick in to protect it.

As long as you're getting a decent vape from it ... it doesn't matter see the temp protect kick in ... it's working. If temp protect kicks in and your not getting a good vape ... then something wrong w/ your setup (coil/wick) most likely not the mod.

In your spare time ... you can put a new wick in the coil ... then w/o juicing it up ... try firing the mod and work the temp 'up' until you see it scorch. That would give you an idea of the max temp you can set ... but likely that would be too high for your liking anyway even if it was juiced up.

I just don't have enough empathy to feel sorry for everyone that is hurt each day in the world.
Me either but until I know it was him being an idiot, vs a shop making a fast buck off a young person, I do feel bad for him. Sadly, not everyone comes to ECF to learn how to vape safely.

I'm using an Aspire Triton with one of their 0.15 NI200 cartridges. Works really well. Took Bells advice and worked the temp up slowly until I got a vape I like. Running it at 430 degrees. Working well. Closed the air up a little for a tighter draw and I am liking it. Thanks for all the help.

I really don't understand "TC". I do understand the need for "wick protection".

I design my coil and set my power level to hit a temperature equilibrium based on liquid evaporation and airflow cooling.

So really there are only three variables: area, power, airflow.

As long as the wick is wet the coil comes up to the temperature I want and levels off.

Above, y'all were talking about a TC mod that has a set 40W power level for the ramp-up. For me that would be far to fast. I want to feel the temperature ramp up over a few seconds then hit equilibrium with the air cooling.

I apreciate the limiter but I would only want to hit it to protect the wick not set my vape temperature.

If its cold out I may want a warmer vape so I'll draw slower. I cant imagine having to adjust a setting to get a warmer oe cooler vape.

Another thing, I dont get dry hits so the wick protection finction is useless to me.

I guess its for RDA's

Right, Matt: As I have heard, "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think." Too bad for that kid.

Found most of what I wanted to quote, I think.

Yes and no. State and local governments are passing laws willy nilly. So, bad stuff could happen a lot faster. Or, not at all. Who knows?

In the meantime, I've had enough to probably last the rest of my life for a while now. I may pick up a little more even. But, I've decided not to stress about it any more than I can help. I realized that stressing about it may just make me not need to stock up at all (not living long enough for it to matter).
Living in California, we know that all too well. They still have a ridiculous string of bills in the wings waiting to pounce. We were damned lucky they didn't pass this summer. Better safe than sorry in this state. :(
Surprising to me to learn that there are at least a few here who go through more joose per day than I do. I thought that at 5-6 ml per day I was one of the heaviest users but obviously I ain't. Then again, I like to nap a lot.

For those who store nic juice in the freezer: no light gets to the nic juice when the freezer door is closed. To me, that makes bottle color so close to irrelevant that I'm calling it irrelevant.
I'm going through about nine ml a day right now tootle puffing but I've also dropped my nic a little lately.

My husband likes to stand with the freezer door wide open trying to decide which ice cream he's going to pig out on next. Multiply that by six year year, the stuff ought to just go out sunbathing. ;) Actually, the socks are primarily for cushioning should something knock them around/into each other, like an ice cream container. :sneaky:
My days have been full for the last week and a half. We got a 8 week old labradoodle to play with the 9 month old labradoodle. Its like having babies again, he's into everything and I can't take my eye off him for a second or he's shooting across the room with contraband in his mouth. I got several kayfuns that need rebuilding, getting behind on my juice making, outside needs to be winterized and my cinderfella housework is piling up but the puppy is more fun to play with than the housework. The older doodle has stepped into motherhood with the little doodle so she keeps tabs on him and tells me when the little one is getting into trouble. Great dogs, wonderful temperament, just wish our 5 year old pom's nose would get back into joint and have more fun with the puppy.
Puppy! Sounds like you're having fun. Our current dog was a flippin' nightmare as a pup, the one before was just amazing. Such good memories introducing him to the big wide world. Congratulations on the new baby! :D

So, what kind of delivery device (ie, topper, clearo, thingie that holds the juice that you screw on to the battery) do you currently use? And do you have any of your music uploaded somewhere?

The most common move from a fixed-voltage device such as a Kanger Evod is to an adjustable-power device. Kanger Evod can also refer to the delivery device because Kanger chose to give a battery and a clearomizer the same name. It can be confusing. Debadoo has suggested another direction that also has a lot of devotees, a Reo, which keeps the fixed voltage but improves the method of juice delivery. Reos are "squonkers", that get the juice from the tank to the atomizer (the coil that vaporizes the juice) by having the user manually squeeze a plastic bottle contained within the device. There is a slight tendency for some Reo users to be obsessive fanatics about their devices, but Debadoo is of course not one of them, not as long as she's got a frying pan anyway. ;-)
Good morning Bigbells! I am looking forward to writing after I get home from the blood lab, where they constantly check my INR. I kind of spend all my time at medical appointments these day! I'm a genetic abnormality ... sigh. Looking forward to later this afternoon! My afternoons are my mornings lately! -VS

Hello good people. I'm pleased to meet you all. I'm not really new to vaping because I have had several of the little things that you can get at a convenience store. Hated them but pretended to use them to quit the real thing. I am ready now to stop; been smoking way too long, about 36 years... Wow.

Husband bought me a cool fire iv it was too bulky so he ended up with it and got me a Nautilus mini. Love it. Just learning how to hit it properly. I still want to smoke it like a cigarette. How long to reprogram the brain?
We've been around to the local shops and have a pretty good collection of juice but I am not fond enough of any of these. I'll be doing the diy I'm sure. :) oh..we live in se Texas and are born and raised... Working refineries. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Is anyone sitting in this rocker? Well don't mind me, beautiful porch!! A lovely day in Texas..:)

Hi Sheeras (‘s mom), welcome to the porch! :D Bestest place on ECF. Someone lugging a frying pan will be along shortly to tell you about the back porch. A couple others here live in Texas also, including said frying pan.

I smoked a little longer than you, 43 years, and was desperate to quit. Some people switch with no problem, some of us have to work at it. Took me about five months to convert completely over to vaping. I had to go up to 24mg to do it. After a month that was way too much nic but I did need it to get over that “hump” from smoking to vaping.

Flavors are more difficult. What one person loves, the next swears it makes them vomit. Do any of the shops you visit have a tasting bar? That the best way to go about it. Find at least one you can’t live without and concentrate on quitting. After you have been off the “stinkies” for a bit, your taste buds will change and you may no longer like that juice anymore. Don’t buy a ton of it until your body detoxes.

Are you just trying tobacco flavors? There’s a whole new world of flavors out there, at least for the moment. I started with a coffee flavor I couldn’t live without. (Naturally, they don’t make it anymore.) Thought fruit and dessert flavors sounded stoooopid. Guess what I vape? If you have branched out, disregard the previous.

It takes a while for the reprogramming, at least it did for me. Let's face it, smoking is far easier, will kill you faster and tastes a lot worse.

Watch out for Iffy's whoopee/pin cushions in those chairs. He's sneaky. ;)
