So, the plumber arrived today (a day early) to finish up the outside faucets. He'd asked us about vaping because he needs to quit smoking prior to surgery in January. He'd gotten an eGo set up and wasn't satisfied, but he was eager to have vaping work for him - Yay! That means there's a good chance it will work. We gave him an eleaf 20 with a Davidae topper and Mike explained how they work. Mike showed him how a coil works on one of his Kafun's and when it lit up, so did his eyes! He's a gadget person who likes this stuff so I think we've got a convert! He wanted to stop by our B&M to pick up the cigar flavor he likes and get started, but I warned him that he should start out at the higher nic, then work his way down to 0 for those 2 weeks prior to surgery or he was going to be frustrated and give up. I hope he listens. He now knows where we live and said he'd contact us if he had questions.

How great is that?! And now you have a good plumber who likes you :)

Janet, have you tried the new Radius, yet?

I hope he likes us after he's tried vaping for awhile! He's not just a plumber, he's a handyman which is even better!

Yes, I've tried Mike's Radius and it's really nice. At some point I'll probably end up getting one in the cabernet color. Lots of bills right now so it'll have to wait a bit. Mike said he thinks you got one?

ok.....don't really want to do this, but......maybe I need to prepare for vapeggedon.....if I get crazy enough to buy that kayfun.....what gauge kanthal do I need ?

Like was just said - no thinner than 30 gauge. I like to build all mine w/ 28 gauge now that I use only rayon for wicking. The 28 gauge is more sturdy and less prone to crunching around when getting a good snug fit with rayon. You can do it w/ 30g but more care is needed.

What type of mod will you be using it on? For regulated mods I like about 1.5Ωs. On a KFL I use 28 gauge, 2.5mm mandrel, & 8 wraps of wire for 1.5Ωs. If you want a higher Ω coil then def go for 30 gauge. 8 wraps of 28g is a lot of wire to heat up.

I did - the Midnight Blue . Should be here by Thursday. The Cabernet is scrumptious, and I think Santa should bring you one! (Not trying to cause trouble. !)

Where did you get the 'steampunk' poly tank?
I may have gotten that kit from Fasttech... but you can get the bell seperately at many places
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Kayfun+Bell+Cap+Kit

I like 30, but I'd suggest some 30 and 28 at least. They do perform slightly differently, and it's really a question of taste and preference. Nothing smaller than 30, imo. (Although 32 is fine for, say, SBC clearos.)
I use 32 and 26 mostly. they both work just fine.

Didnt think about that, I looked a little closer, and sure nuff, it was an air adjustment screw that bottomed out and caused the problem. the tank arrived with the "adjustment screws" flush, so in fact is not adjustable, lol. My next day off I will see if I cant shorten those adjustment screws so they recess into the tank but the draw isn’t so tight, were talking .025, lol.
Thanks for the idea!

ETA: haven’t yet had any trouble with the fill screw, but will keep a watchful eye as things wear!
I just took out the adjustment screws and it only opened the draw up a little bit and I saw no increase in leaking or anything. Might try it.

I use 28ga for just about everything. Others may have a different opinion as in YMMV!

That's wonderful! I hope he listens too. Our neighbor is still in ICU but improving. When I get the chance, I'm going to encourage him to vape, tell him I'll help him all I can and point him to ECF. I so want this to end well for him and his family.

Help - Battery problems that I don’t understand at all.

Went away for a week, turned ProVari off, forgot to remove battery. Came home, clicked it 5 times, light came on and thought I forgot to turn it off. Checked battery, read 3.9. No power to atty. Thought had gone bad, etc. Put battery in charger and it started blinking random numbers like 3.2, 3.8, 4.1, etc. Thought I’d drained the battery too far to recover (ProVari won’t let you do that but who knows what happened while I was gone).

Went to show husband how battery was shot by putting it back in charger. Read 3.9 and proceeded to fully charge to 4.20. What the heck happened?

Also, the charger (new charger, new batteries, less than 10 charges on all batteries) are sometimes charging up to 4.20, then dropping to 4.19 and 4.18 depending on the bay they are in. I retired the last charger because the bays on one side were dropping down to 4.19 after hitting 4.20.

I think, maybe, the Provari was working fine. When you turn it off from the PO menu, it turns off power to the atty when pressing the fire button. It doesn't turn off the screen. So you might have been pressing the button to fire the atty, but if PO was set to Off, then the atty wouldn't fire.

As to the batt, showing random blinking numbers, I've no clue. A wild guess was that the charger was 'testing' the batt to 'home in' on the charge. Does it ever do that when when inserting other batts to charge?

Don't beat yourself up if he doesn't listen to you. You can't force someone to want to vape, it's their decision. Our friend never did take to it and he didn't make it. I almost fell into the trap of thinking that somehow we could have done more, but came to realize that we were not at fault, his choice was. Maybe if you could get his family to understand vaping as another source of support it might help, but you can't do it for them.

4.2 is, actually, a slight overcharge, and dropping to 4.19 isn't a problem.

Sometimes the "variation", especially when looking at a difference of 1/100th of a volt, is due to slightly dirty contacts. A few strokes with a soft pencil eraser on the battery ends and charger contacts may help.

If the lower readings are always on the same bays, it could be that the internal wires are just longer on those bays as well.

http://www.xtardirect.com/ now has free shipping on all US orders. I was given the coupon code NOV5 for 5% off after submitting my email address. I know somebody was looking for a specific Xtar charger. The combination of free shipping and 5% off results in the best prices I've seen for Xtar products.
oh thanks for this. I was looking at the VP 4. Now to see if I can get it. How long was the coupon code for? I got a popup for 10% off for my email, but didn't do it yet, in case the code is only good for 2 days or something. I didn't realize they had free shipping there. Good to know.

Great post hun! Thanks so much for all you're doing!

I don't like to vape banana either. And I'm the same way about real banana's. Once they get ripe they go in the freezer for banana bread or pudding.
Never vaped nanners yet, but I like em when they're pretty ripe just not mushy, that's nanner bread stage.

Yikes! I actually had less voltage applied to the atty under load then before. The drop actually increased significantly like .3-.4 volts. Spent the next 25 minutes getting that stuff cleaned from all the threads.
That's odd, noalox was a staple for reos when they had the older connections and it worked great, but now with the gold plated contacts, it's deoxit gold that everyone uses.

Y'all can run, but you can't hide!

I'm all caught up (as long as we don't count the last 50 or so pages of the last Porch thread). So good to see everyone! The new porch looks fantabulous!
yay!! Good to see ya sweetie pie!!

ok.....don't really want to do this, but......maybe I need to prepare for vapeggedon.....if I get crazy enough to buy that kayfun.....what gauge kanthal do I need ?
you been into the honey jack???????? lightning vapes is a good place to get wire. 30g is 2.75 for 100 foot and free shipping. That's what I use. I think the 28g is 4.15

Mike showed him how a coil works on one of his Kafun's and when it lit up, so did his eyes! He's a gadget person who likes this stuff so I think we've got a convert!
awesome!!! That's wonderful to hear.

A smoker will never start to vape if the juice sucks. Period. And you can't get them to vape just cuz it's better for them. Not gonna happen. Without a good flavor it's more like torture to them. And we all know we are all different so we can't know what they'd like. Taste budz iz weird peeplez!
Most here know I never wanted nor intended to quit. First juice... heaven. Luck was with me. But without that flavor? No way I'd be vaping. And we are all different. Like everyone here raving over the kayfun. IPersonally, hate them. :)

I got the pop-up for 10% off too, but when I entered my email it said 5% instead of 10%. No clue why.
