Set your meter for ohms and put one lead on the positive post on the build deck and the other lead on the center pin in the bottom of the 510 connector. If you do not read really low ohms there is something open in between the center pin and the positive post on the build deck.

Matt was talking about using a regular volt ohm meter with leads, not a 510 base type ohm meter for vaping.
This addresses your second post too, I don't have one of those... :( need to get one, but the cheapy freeby from Harbor Freight never worked.

It probably just needed a 9 volt battery. I have 3 or 4 of those little meters and all work if you put a decent battery in them. Remove the little phillps screws on the back and open it up and you will see the battery.

I'm assuming the KFL isn't screwing into the 510 connection of the mod and/or tester to make contact.

If you only have one of those little black box ohm's testers and not a DVM w/ test leads .... here's a totally off the wall method to try to test it.

Don't do this on a mod in case it shorts out. But it won't hurt attempting on a little black box ohms tester.

Make a small spitball out of a small piece of tin foil. Place that, centered, into the 510 connection of the little black box. Carefully screw in the KFL and see if you get a reading on the tester.

And a couple more things to try.

Or if you have any 510-to-510 adapters or even an eGo thread adapter, try screwing the atty in it, then screw the assembly into the tester and see if you can get a reading.

Do you have any mech mods w/ and adjustable 510 pin. You could screw it to that mod, then adjust the pin until you feel it hitting the 510 center pin of the atty. Then put it on the mod and see if it fires.

Some great price$!

Just so there's no confusion amongst the newer porchers, there is no age limit here, but we do like to kid about it.

Ten cent gas and 15 cent cigarettes, you guys are older than dirt. I do remember gas being 19.9 cents, but I was a toddler then. ;)

I have a question for all you Kayfun users. I received the 2 Kayfun Lite V2s I ordered from Vapor Range (received Friday). I cleaned them when I opened them and this afternoon I got around to building them. First one, no problem (I do have 2 other Kayfuns, one a Lite V2 and a mini). Wrap, install, test, fire, wick and go. The second one just won't work. I built 5 different coils (all 29 gauge kanthal, 8 wraps on 2mm mandrel), install and nothing, nada, zip. My ohm meter didn't register, nor any mod I own that displays ohms. I took it apart, reassembled, still nothing. Any ideas? I did email Vapor Range, but being Sunday night I don't expect any reply until tomorrow. Any suggestions and/or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Mostly covered, but...

Have you tried it on another mod that has ohm check?

And it might just be that said pin is in a tad too far... With it opened up so you can see the terminal block, you can back off that screw a small amount - too much and the positive block will be loose, and that will lead to shorts, eventually.

Always tell an ex-Navy man. Most folks have never heard of NevrDull. :thumb:

Well, actually grew up in the Coast Guard, until my dad's transfer the year I started college. And many years as a civilian electrician in various shipyards, mostly repair and construction of fighting ships for the USN.

Fresh battery in the ohm meter with leads, but perhaps I am just not using it right. Amd I have several 510 to 510 and 510 to ego adapters I will try. Thanks!
If the yellow meter from HF then set it to the 200 at ther 6 oclock position on the meter dial. slide the little off on switch to on. Have the red lead plugged into thecenter hole on the lower right and the black lead in the bottom hole. Short the ends of the test leads together and you should see a low ohms reading not ove 1 ohm probably, although the leads on those things are crap. If this works put the red lead on the positive post in the build deck and the negative lead on the center pin in the 510 on the bottom. It should read about the same as when you shorted the test leads together. if not something is open in the center pin/post assembly.

When I try to get a reading with the regular ohm meter the readings just jump all over the place and never settle. It is one of the freeby red ones... David, I tried it on several mods I have that read ohms. Just get no atomizer or non. Guess I will wait to hear from Vapor Range. Not unheard of to get a dud now and then. But thank you very much everyone!

how about the center pin on the bottom of the 510 connector? Stickiing out the same as the other one that works?

My cheap multi-meter never worked either. Need to get a battery.

The exact thing was happening to one of my Kayfuns. I tried backing the contact screw out the tiniest little bit. I couldn't even see a difference. But, that did it. Give that a try first.

Same as for the first one. It is a simple ohm meter. I usually just use an MVP when rebuilding my Kanger bottom coils, but I use the ohm meter to hold the base when I build a Kayfun or Taifun or Lemo....
Oh, you'd need a volt/ohm meter to do the checks I described.

I think it's the red one, but really doesn't matter, your instructions are still good.

How do all y'all KNOW this stuff?! I can barely understand the directions ... Yet one more reason that I love this thread: If it was my question, I figure you'd just keep explaining til I get it :)

Are all the little insulatorss under the +/- posts? Is the positive post on straight, & not touching the negative post anywhere?
