I just use a tiny pair of embroidery scissors so I can get in close to the coil.Good point. I have a pair of bandage scissors. Have done that in the past, but not the last time.

I'm not conncerned about dropping to zero or getting off. It just feels a little too much lately. That's the only reason I'm dropping to 16as I make new batches. I started at 24, & it was too much after a few months. I like being able to self adjust. When I started dropping the nic it was out of necessity. It kept becoming to strong for me. All the nic OD symptoms. I had to go to 24mg to get off the cigarettes, couldn't do it otherwise. Some people seem to naturally lose their tolerance to it.
I think I was happily at 12mg when I saw a post by Myrany saying she was working her way down to zero. I thought it was brilliant. Really wanted that "monkey off my back." I think I dropped to 6mg for a while and then started with DIY and dropped 1mg per batch I made until I was at zero. Every time, for three days, I vaped more but then went back to normal. Was off nic for about three months and it turns out I can't tolerate that, had physical problems. Back to around 3mg, sometimes 6mg (but that's a bit much) and wishing I had 24mg when I have to ride in the car while my dad is driving.
Since you are DIYing, how about mixing down 1mg at a time. As "high" as you are with the nic, you may not even notice it as long as you do it gradually. The most important thing is not to worry about it. If you don't tolerate lowering it, then you are where your body needs to be. I wasn't happy about going back to the nic but damn, I feel so much better with a bit of it.
You're welcome and thank you for the information. We can't even get the sheriff to respond when there were poachers on the property, not likely they'll show up to gather some old ammo. I'll just drop it off at their station.
Been under a lot of stress lately but even I wouldn't call 911 for that. [emoji38]
Someone made a joke about it and I ran with it.
It seems that part of your brain regards nicotine as some kind of drug or crutch. You say not to worry about it but it seems like you do? You did call it a monkey on your back. To me, it's just an essential nutrient. The most important thing is not to worry about it. If you don't tolerate lowering it, then you are where your body needs to be. Regardless of whether I'm using cotton or rayon, I cut one end to a point and wet it with joose to get it started through the coil. That part of the wick gets cut off when I'm done, so it doesn't matter if it's squooshed and twisted.on some attys I have been known to get in there with a tiny pair of scissors and cut off one end of the cotton so I can yank it out the other side without distorting the coil.
Oops. Don't blame you. Batch was 18mg. teach me to post in the middle of the night.I'm confused.
Bells we are talking about getting a used wicking out without distorting the coil not the other way around.Regardless of whether I'm using cotton or rayon, I cut one end to a point and wet it with joose to get it started through the coil. I've recently moved up to 4-4.5 nic (mostly mixing 3 and 6 together); since I don't sub ohm anymore, it seems like I need a bit more than the 3mg I was using. As to chain vaping, welp, guilty as charged! S'ok; I'm not smoking, so I'm a happy Tweety!I hope not. I tried dropping from 18 to 12, but it was too much. I went back to 18 when I caught myself constantly chain vaping. The drop from 24 to 18 was easy, tho, & that was just about 3-4 months after I started vaping. That second drop to 12 didn't go as well. I was still buying juice tho, so there wasn't a big choice in levels. It was 18 or 12. I can do it on my own now, tho. There.s only one juice I buy now, & I can get it in 0mg & add my own nic. Whoop!
???? Whatchyoumean, Willis?Depends on what your using it in. A nick in the covering only exposes more of the negative post. No big deal unless the case of you mod is positive then it's a really big deal!
You are NOT an idiot! I knew what you meant, and appreciated the response!I am an idiot, didn't distinguish between mech and regulated. What Bob said!
I'd been wondering how it went. lol Jup, definitely don't answer the phone. that's one reason drops don't really work for me, I'd lose count even if I weren't interrupted. A shiny squirrel would run through my mind and I'd interrupt myself! Here's what I learned from my first attempt at mixing: It's important to count drops, accurately.![]()

Poor Birdy! That's why God made syringes! I never use drops unless it's under .05 ml. I'm lazy like that. Here's what I learned from my first attempt at mixing: It's important to count drops, accurately.![]()

me too, I am comfortable using syringes. I don't do exclusive DIY, just haven't taken the time, but I am comfortable using syringes.Poor Birdy! That's why God made syringes! I never use drops unless it's under .05 ml. I'm lazy like that.
I am currently using 30g coils, five wraps for 1.5Ω. I dry-burned and rewicked them at the beginning of the month, but they are not holding up. How much thicker wire will hold similar ohms long-term? I see that 28g will need 8 wraps, which is reasonable. Plus more surface area.
Don't see this happen everyday.

Wonders how many watts it takes to get that effect![]()
I got it setup dual but it was...messy.
Interestingly enough I cut the wires by tightening down screws more with 28 gauge than I do with 30. Did that 4 times with the orchid setup. It is such a mess setting up dual without a short on that one.
I use rayon in my coils and it has to be tighter than cotton. I wet the coil and wick with water snip one end off the wick and it slides right out with no effort .

I'm thinking that may also be why God made scales! Speaking of which, can anyone recommend a good scale, preferably available on Amazon? It might be harder to mess up with a scale. That is, as long as Deb doesn't send that squirrel up here!Poor Birdy! That's why God made syringes! I never use drops unless it's under .05 ml. I'm lazy like that.
Yep. Will try clipping off one end of the wick. If that doesn't work, I will skip the dryburn and just recoil every time. Once I am close to running out, I will order 28g from LV.I use 8 wraps of 28g around a 2.5mm mandrel for 1.5Ωs. A coil can last me up to six months. I used to like 30g but since I started using rayon and like to get it really tight in the coil, I only use 28g now because it doesn't distort as easy.
Are you trapping the wire under the screws? Sometimes the screws can have sharp edges. You can buff/remove the edges w/ an nail file or emory board.
he, he ... Janet's the mixologist and I'm not allowed to talk to her when she's mixing juice.
I think Amoret uses a scale, maybe she'll pop in with info.I'm thinking that may also be why God made scales! Speaking of which, can anyone recommend a good scale, preferably available on Amazon? It might be harder to mess up with a scale. That is, as long as Deb doesn't send that squirrel up here!
"Drug or crutch," yes and no at the time. What I wanted to do was prove to me that I could get off the nic (which I did). I was still in awe that I'd quit smoking after wanting to for decades and couldn't no matter how determined I was. Put the monkey on my back in quotes because that is pretty much my feelings of the past. I need a little nic to stay healthy and happy, just like I need to take that bloody hay fever pill every day, and accept it. It's the nic fits under stress that I resent now. That's just a me thing. It seems that part of your brain regards nicotine as some kind of drug or crutch. You say not to worry about it but it seems like you do? You did call it a monkey on your back. Amoret swears by her scale, has an Amazon link and good list of pointers.I think Amoret uses a scale, maybe she'll pop in with info.
