I know a few others who have done similar with coffee and tobacco... I don't see why tea wouldn't work. And I'm pretty sure my Darling Wife has some pretty fancy loose leaf teas around somewhere. Surely she wouldn't mind if I snitched a pinch here or there, right? ;)
well I was doing some adulting but yeah.......what Birdy said!! hehehe

Not loaded with MY babies, but easily available.

As a new to DIYing Kat, I find this to be a VERY HELPFUL tip and one that makes perfect sense! One can always dilute with a properly ratio'd "Clear/Clean" but if you were to ADD a drop or two of this or that (flavor only) it would throw ALL of the other ratios off. Thank you bigbells!!! I'm pickin' up what you're layin' down!

The disadvantage of the "start high" method is that on occasion, you might end up having to dilute it a LOT, and you end up with a lot more juice than you intended. This happened to me when I first used FA Coffe Espresso (RTS's funny spelling of coffee, not mine). I was smart enough to use it at only 4%, but that was 4 times stronger than I could stand. I ended up having to turn my original 100ml batch into a 400ml batch.

With TFA Absinthe, TFA Tobacco Absolute and TFA Jalapeno, I had a premonition that I ought to start really small, and 1% of either of those was plenty. But with most flavors I can use 8 to 10 percent and not end up having to adjust.

For what it's worth, you can add TFA Honey to that list. You don't have to trust me on this, and feel free to test that theory on your own; but you have been warned. ;)

I'll take your word for it. TFA Honey Tobacco was a likable flavor for me, at around 4-5%.

I haven't mixed a tobacco flavor in a very long time. I have been working on a honeyed pear juice for a while though. I think I've finally nailed down the honey percentage (1.5%), but I'm still missing something and need to dial in the fruit flavor a touch more. The few people who've tried it so far all seem to love it, but it's still not exactly what I'm trying to get to. Maybe a touch of honeydew would get me there...

I have a new favorite flavoring, FlavourArt Vanilla Classic. I mixed it at 9% flavoring.
9% sounds like a good start to me. I solo tested it at 5%, and there was absolutely no flavor, let alone any vanilla. I'm not picking on FA ... I have found "Vanilla" is not perfected by a lot of company's .. I've tried most of them :(

Yesterday I got some FA Vanilla Tahity and FA Vanilla Bourbon.
I found the Tahiti was good at 18%.. I know, wow. For me, even at that, it was mild. I decided that using it at 18%, and then adding a tobacco that only required 1% would make a good mix .. but other than that, it's to mild to use in a mix, for me.
The Vanilla Bourbon I played with between 10 and 15%, and it just totally lacked flavor for me ... I like the TFA Vanilla Bourbon at 10% better, but it needs a sweetener to bring out the flavor, which I rarely use.

when I first used FA Coffe Espresso I was smart enough to use it at only 4%, but that was 4 times stronger than I could stand.
 They used to call it "Dark Bean". I'm a coffee lover, and I like it at 3%.
Then again, it's an older bottle of flavoring, and yours is probably fresher.

WELCOME Von Vape

Have you tried adding a few drops of lemon juice (not flavor actual lemon juice) I think about 3 drops per 10 ml to start with. It often makes fruit flavors pop, like adding lemon juice/zest to blueberry pie etc.

Have you tried steeping tea in PG?

Dunno, but a dear porcher we unfortunately lost to illness last year did a lot with making her own coffee extractions and maybe tea extractions. @Semiretired would probably know if she did teas, I think he played around with it some as well.

Yes, I have and so did Jewels. Coffee works better than tea, but it can be done. You need to do it with custom teas (the high end stuff) - Lipton tea ain't gonna cut it - nothing in a bag does (at least I never found one) - I even tried several teas removed from the bags - barely there, but kind of vapeable, but you do have to remove it from the bags to get it to absorb into the PG...

If you want more info - I am sure I can dig up enough info to get you started...

I haven't mixed a tobacco flavor in a very long time.

A few months back on my last flavoring order - I don't know, but I ordered one of my go to tobacco flavors just to reminisce with it some - I used to mix it at 4% - well my taste buds have changed a lot over time - now - even at 1% it was overpowering and just not what I remembered... I found putting 3 drops mixed in with other flavors made it just about right - at only 3 drops per mix - that 15ml bottle is going to last a long long time...:confused::confused:

Had to go do some things and stuff but WOW! Hi ALL!

I had no idea there were so many nice folks here on the front porch! (I really have to get out more, lol!)

The disadvantage of the "start high" method is that on occasion, you might end up having to dilute it a LOT, and you end up with a lot more juice than you intended.
I read this and thought, "TOO MUCH JUICE!!! Is that even possible??? Then I read the 100 ml. turned into 400 ml. and understood COMPLETELY! ;) That's what I call stocking up for a rainy day! I can also see where and why you had "a premonition" on the other flavors!!! Jalapeno!!! Ya, there's one to DEFINITELY start off lightly with!!!

Not to "horn in" on the thread, which looks like a pretty much coffee & tea extracting, which is kewl all by itself, but.........
Hiya Von........welcome to the porch!! Pull up a rocker and tell us about yourself. Gotta say ya look a lot more like a kreepy klown, than a Kat hehehe
So, to comment on that, :D :D :D maybe WAY TOO LATE :confused:......
Nearly a 50 year stink sucker for both my wife and I, quit a half dozen times all kinds of ways, always went back to 'em, even tried early cig a like devices (we all know the shortcomings of those) never any "real" health concerns or "issues", finally just got too dog gone expensive and modern technology FINALLY resolved old 'issues". It was a "perfect storm" of circumstances that pulled us away from "the dark side of the force". We are SO FREAKIN' GLAD IT DID!!! Our official "Vape A Verssary" is Valentine's Day of this year, though we had cut down to just a few and then one or two a day since New Yea's Day, using more modern cig a likes until we "wised up" and tried REALLY MODERN devices (Kangertech Subvods) beginning the first of Valentine's week. LIS, I can't tell you how happy we are! GREAT (store bought) flavors, a sense of smell, a sense of taste, breathing easier, more energy, more time to do things since we aren't tied to an ashtray or having to finish a cigarette once it's lit, so as not to "waste" it (@ $12 a pack!!!)
[That's one of the things I found ironic about them getting so expensive. I was under the impression the gov. was trying to "encourage" us to quit (supposedly for our own health's sake) through "Behavior Modification Taxes" (Don't kid yourself, that's what they are! "We want you to behave "this way" so we're gonna hit you in the wallet until you do!"). The thing is, the more expensive they got, the more compelled I was to "wring every last cent out of each and every one". Once it was lit, I sucked on that darned thing until it was GONE. I didn't get up and do something, I didn't lay it in the ashtray for more than a couple of seconds, that would be money just going up in smoke! I/we were actually smoking MORE and doing MUCH MORE harm to our health than if they weren't as expensive as they've become! GO FIGURE!!!]
we're also not replacing "the habit" with eating since vaping mimics the tactile routine AND there ARE so many GREAT flavors out there, thereby shedding a few extra unwanted pounds in the process! Talk about a WIN, WIN!!! I suppose you could say it's a QUADRUPLE WIN!!!

The DIY portion of this journey is a response to the availability & consistency of commercial juices here, in Alaska. The cost savings is nothing to snivel at either ;)!

And to Debadoo I actually resemble your avatar more closely than mine, IRL    (LOL). I just dig "Creapy Clowns" ;).

My apologies for running on. Thanks for having me! I now return this thread to it's rightful subject ;) :) :D

CHEERS!

Here's a combination to consider. We have the iStick 40 and Nautilus tanks (both full size & mini). These are not our primary setups. These are decent setups and provide a nice vape, etc. There may be better but I only want to list what we've used and are familiar with. This mod is TC capable ... but I've never used it in TC mode just VW (variable wattage).

I've sensed Ellen's frustration from half way ''round da globe. I've also read all da great suggestions and advice. Been biting tongue until Mike made his post. I totally agree with his suggested set-up; a tootle puphphers dream wid 'room' to learn TC if desired.

Ellen, since you are 'surviving' with your current equipment thus far and a lil' time won't hurt you, I'll add my FastTech findings...

iStick TC40W = $26.34
Nautilus BVC tank(5ml) = $19.96
Nautilus coils (5 pak)= $7.96

Total $54.26 = AUD71.83

You may find an item cheaper 'here or there', but with this set-up, FT is one stop shopping with free shipping.

Rootin' fer ya...

Nice going Iffy ... that's a significant savings over the Aussie vendor I listed.

Add in then the self-reliance if DIY, along with the cost. Not having to wait on FedUp in the middle of a blizzard! ;)
