Can't believe some of those New Yorkers. They are actually P.O.'d that they didn't get a blizzard. That's nutz.

well... look at it from their point of view. They were told a blizzard, and to quickly go out and stock up so you wouldn't starve or freeze. They got all prepared - fighting crowds like it was black friday, and .... nothing.
what worries me is that the next time the weather men predict a blizzard, no one will go prepare and we will have deaths...

but on an hour-long note... see what I just twittered:

I lived in Edmonton for almost 2 years. IMO their weather forecasters have it relatively easy. Here in the Toronto area we get lake effect off of Lake Ontario which is hard to predict and it can be totally different 15 miles further away from the lake.

We don't nearly as much snow as we used to here though, even in Montreal where I grew up. I remember snow piled up on sidewalks to the street signs a few times over the years, but that was 40-50 years ago.

Last winter I was temporarily residing in NJ, which got an unusually large amount of snow. A cousin of mine from Montreal irrationally insisted that NJ got more snow than Montreal in the winter of 2013-2014. The facts prove her wrong but she was not interested in the facts. I guess that Montreal residents are so accustomed to snow that they don't notice it.

Seriously - you gotta let that go.

Besides I have to use something to check the resistance of my Reo coil builds on. Runs away! Runs away!

Aha! So the almighty, cooler than sliced bread Reo can’t do everything!

That is my fear too. It’s only because of Sandy, when they ignored the warnings, that they paid attention this time. Here, we don’t care what form it comes in, rain, hail, 40 day and 40 nights, sleet, snow dump. We just need the water because the trees are dying at an alarming rate. Not enough water for the migrating birds, fish runs and other wildlife.

This can't possibly be posted enough. Thank you for sharing, off to post (with attribution) in the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-ecigs-tobacco-treat-vaping-like-smoking.html thread. :)

I had to clean & rewick my KFL+ that I did my first build on, & decided to go ahead & set up my new one, too. THE FIRST ONE WASN'T A FLUKE! :rickroll: Second one came in at 1.7 also! I'm so happy!! :D Now, on to dripping, twisted wire, mechs, & so on!
Your catching up fast ... Congratulations!!
By the time that anyone tries to pull the rug out from under us, you'll have it all down pat, and a "collection" of everything you need, ... in other words, "independency"
BTW, heard on the news tonight, that the FDA is coming out with some printed paperwork concerning the first of their decisions on e-cigs in April.
Think I'll pick up a REO, just for the heck of it ... just wish there was room for a "kick" of some kind in it.
Told there wasn't,... but I will have to see one before I will understand why it can't happen.
Be nice to have something do the "dripp'in" for me, ... haven't mastered that yet .. tried a couple of times, and put the stuff back in the drawer

Now that's just asking for something to get lost? Yikes that's a lot of pieces.

Your not helping my vaping budget, sir!

26 bucks at FT. If you are going to order one I'll give you the item number so you get the right one. They must have ten different ones, this one was damn near perfect.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Good grief Matt, that makes my head spin! I'd have to clean that up right away! See, this is the part the tinkers like. Lots and lots of pieces and gotta see how it works. That many pieces just scare me! It's a good thing we have tinkers like you because some people (like moi) get glazed-over eyes. I just appreciate that there are so many like you because that's why we have so many new and improved rigs to choose from. :vapor:

Once you get it nice and clean you would only have to do the big clean once in a while. Mostly it would be rinse, coil and wick and go. Not too bad.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Who is the manufacturer?

Who knows? It's from fasttech. If you want to order one I'll post the item number so you can get the same one. This one was great. Nice threads, good quality and not too dirty.

Wha? You can put a kick in a Reo. In a Grand you just have to do some finish scraping on the inside to get a bare metal spot to feed the negative on the kick, and dumb it down to an 18500 battery. I know this has been covered by someone in the Reo supplier forum - with pictures even.

ETA: There are a lot threads there about it, like this one: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/461514-kick-2-reo-grand.html

Hellooooo out there!!!!!
My first post outside the New Members forum, and I thought I'd say "Hi" to all you nice people.
My name is Bob, and I've been Vaping since Nov. 2013 Don't know if I qualify as "Old" (I'm 52 this year) but after lurking for a while, this just seemed like a nice place to be.
I started smoking at 14, and for the last 10 years, or so was smoking 30-40 hand rolled non filters a day. A co-worker, with an ITaste 134 mod got me interested in vaping, and I got an eGo style starter kit, not long after that. Two days later, I threw away my last bag of tobacco.
The starter kit morphed into a Gravity twist, and a Kanger PT2. Looking for a battery with USB charging/pass-thru capability got me an ITaste VV V3.0. A broken PT2 (The 510 threads on those are a SERIOUS weak spot) and I replaced it with an IClear X-I.
On my birthday, last year, My wife (Now she's after me to quit VAPING too) made my vape disappear. I suffered through the rest of the day, and the next day, after explaining the difference between vaping, and smoking, and flatly telling her that if/when I quit vaping is MY decision, not hers, I bought an ITaste MVP 2.0/IClear 30 kit (She still doesn't like it, calls it a crutch, but some choices we simply CAN'T make for other people, even the ones we love. I'd have gotten more than a few people off of booze/pills if that were the case)
This past Christmas, I bought an Aspire Nautilus to put on my MVP, which brings my hardware history (and some personal info) up to date.
My take on the vaping "Scene" is that it's a lot like fishing, or golf, or a lot of other hobbies we enjoy. We can have a perfectly satisfying experience with cheap, off the shelf equipment (A basic Zebco rod/reel, second hand clubs, simple eGo/16b setup) or we can get as complicated as we like (Custom golf clubs/fly rods, hand tied flies, one off mods, DIY coils/juices) I really don't know how far I want to go in that direction, but I get the best gear I can afford, and the vape shop near my house does custom blends for me I'm STILL tobacco free, with all the health improvements that come with it. I think I'll hang on to my "Crutch" The alternative was killing me.

Welcome to the porch Bob. We'll make room for you even though your just a young wippersnapper. No ID checks here anyway. Nice to read your vaping story. There are plenty of good articles and testimonials around that you might be able to pass on to your wife that might help get her off your case. Mine was like that too for a while. Have you tried just talking to her about why she is so against it? Might explain about harm reduction vs elimination. One of the things that helped me was the fact that my cancer surgeon recommended it. Good luck and welcome again.

Welcome to the Porch!!!!! Pull Up a rocker and set awhile!

I am another one of the younguns around here (50). We don't check ID's.

As for gear. Use what works for YOU. There is nothing wrong with simple. What is important is that it works for YOU. Half the time I use a simple ego + clearo. Half the time I do the build my own coil thing. Everyone finds their own thing in vaping eventually.

Welcome to the Porch, Bob. I'm another young'un ... So nice to be in early 50's and be considered "young!" Everyone on the Porch forgives me my youthful exuberance and answers my noobie questions, anyway :). If those questions aren't vaping-related (say, perhaps, related to the relative merits of Ping G30s over G25's), wander on over to the Back Porch and fire away.

Someone will say it, so I'm gonna beat 'em to the punch: watch your wallet; we're all really gifted at spending other folks' money!

My doctors also are very supportive of vaping. Perhaps you can ask yours, and if s/he is, ask that the good news be passed along to your wife. In our house, I don't complain about DH's cigars and he gets a chuckle over my vape-mania. Mostly this happens during cocktail hour, when all is right with the world, anyway. Good luck with that! And again, Welcome!

Guess what? I finally built my first dual-coil! And, it even works! Quite well, as a matter of fact.

Wahoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you hun!!!!

Heck-- I didn't know that she knew my name either.

Now, y'all know my super power, and we all know y'alls names!! hehehe

<<<< Honoring my six little babies.

Noticed your pretty orchid avi on the back porch and forgot to mention it!

WOO HOO! I did it! So excited. Thanks to all of you who have been so encouraging, I built two coils, today - 1.2 and 1.6 ohms - and wicked my KFL+ and K4!!! I had NO idea that juice could taste this good. Patrick (young man and owner of vape store to which I referred) watched me build and guided me through wicking. The K4 gurgles a little bit, but that's OK. I feel like I did when I was 10 and got my first pie crust right :).

Wahooooooo to you too!!!! That's wonderful. Now can you tell me how to bookmark posts? Someone explained it a long time ago, but I did something wrong and couldn't find them again.

You can come visit over here if you want. ~> Reos Mods But I warn you they are a friendly bunch without an agenda so they will suck you in.

I can vouch for this! I've been hanging out on the Reo threads for a couple few weeks, and they are a great bunch. I am nearly certain that I really really want one. My only thing I'm not sure about is that the vw mods give a much nicer vape than a fully charged ego, so not sure about just using a battery. although I do realize that a good atty can make all the difference, so I expect that it would more than make up for any battery shortcomings. I do wish that Rob made a side squonker as that would be much easier for many with arthritis, but if need be I can just hold it in one hand and squonk with the pointer of the other hand. I sure would love to try one, but am mostly certain I wouldn't be disappointed in it. It's gonna take me a long time, but I do want to get set up for a time when the govt tries to eliminate vaping. A reo seems to be a perfect way to do this.

Ain't it purty!

It sure is!! Now post the link already!! lol I know it's a generic, but is it like something we'd have heard of?? What's it closest to?

but says it was a much worse storm in '78.

It's a good thing we have tinkers like you because some people (like moi) get glazed-over eyes. I just appreciate that there are so many like you because that's why we have so many new and improved rigs to choose from. :vapor:

I lived in Dayton Ohio in 78 and that was NOT fun. Folks died cuz their houses were buried under 20 foot snow drifts, phones were out and no one knew they were there. We did have snow days, but many days during that, I walked to school (rode city bus part of the way, unless I needed cigs, bus fare and cigs were both 50 cents).

Hellooooo out there!!!!! .

Welcome to the porch Bob!!! We have a back porch here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/520776-older-folks-vaping-back-porch-part-2-a.html
with many of the same folks where we can discuss anything. We have to keep this one mostly vape related as much as we can. Although it is a challenge to do so. lol I was the baby at 48 when I showed up a few years ago, (now 51) but they welcomed me with open arms, and have put up with me ever since! I've made that challenging at times too. *giggle* We even have separate rockers/recliners so you don't have to drag it from porch to porch. The purple recliner is mine though! lol Hope your wife will be able to see how much better vaping is than cigs. Oh no, don't hide my pv!! lol But do whatchya gotta do, you're right, no one can make that decision for us.

Hi, Bob, and welcome to the porch!

Just wondering about your avatar - I can see why you'd like some heat from the Dune, since you're in Ypsilanti! Just watch out for the worms.... :p

Maybe head on over to CASAA's site CASAA - The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association and print out some of their docs and research info on vaping, nicotine and so on, and leave them for your wife to see ;) There are some legit medical uses for nic - as long as you don't get all the carcinogens along with it!

And as said, we don't check IDs on either porch, but do check the rocker before you sit!

I laid mine on its side once for a day and no leak. Theres a small black o-ring that goes on the top part that screws onto the evaporation chamber. The clear silicon ring goes into the top part that screws onto that part and sits on the tank. That clear silicon ring would there fore be on top of the tank.
If all the rings are there and when tightened the tank is not moving it shouldn't be leaking, unless liquid is getting down into the very bottom part and coming through the air holes. assuming all tight and no defects in rings or parts.

ETA - your chamber is screwed all the way down onto the build deck.

Well I am going to rewick it and give it oone more try. I lost one of the neoprene seals when I took it apart it was stuck to the glass and fell off somewhere but damned if I can find it everything is there except that now. Good thing it came with a spare. I don't know why they used that instead of rubber I mean can that save that much money.

Hellooooo out there!!!!!

Welcome to the Porches, Bob!

You seem awfully good-natured about your wife making your stuff 'disappear'. I think I would have threatened to make some of her stuff disappear (especially any of HER crutches). But, I'm not the one that's still married.

You're right about it turning into a hobby. But, that's part of why it works so well. Lots of flavors! Lots of shinies! And, we're pretty good at tempting each other with all the latest shinies.

Wahooooooo to you too!!!! That's wonderful. Now can you tell me how to bookmark posts? Someone explained it a long time ago, but I did something wrong and couldn't find them again.

Deb, just click on the post number to get the address of the specific post in the address bar of your browser. Then you can save that address however you want.
