Hello - I'm older, lol, and I just started vaping 7 days ago and have been 7 days without using cigarettes. Formerly 2 packs a day, sometimes 2.25 on weekends. I still have a pack of smokes in the house just so I don't go through separation anxiety, lol. Sometimes I crave one, but the smell of the real cigarettes is starting to bother me now.

I have a 13 hour battery (Vision spinner) and a 4 hour spinner (I get more smoke with the spinners). And 2 chargers, lol. I have a ProTank Mini and A T3S. I am chain-vaping but hopefully will settle into a routine and slow down an bit after I get used to not smoking. Right now I am vaping the buttery/sweet stuff as something in it reminds me of cigars. I am a bit worried about the diacetyl but have now ordered from Vape Chef and Nude Nicotine, both of which claim not to use the D-stuff.

I took 7 days off work to make the switch, lol. Today was my first day back at work and of course at "smoking break" I caught bloody hell when I sat out there and vaped. Lots of nay-sayers and people laughing at me, threats of my battery blowing my head off, etc. But at least the worst part is over now, lol. By Monday they will have some other office gossip to occupy their minds :)

Anyway, that's my "Hi - I'm an older vaper post" lol
Welcome!
Seems to me you are off to a good start.
Those silly people will be the ones that "WANT" to quit, but not really. Just keep the enjoyment right out for them to see and they will start respecting the vape... Especially when you can say things like how much easier it is to breath, walk, etc...
I've only had two people mention battery's burning, and my standard response is
" yeah... Like those laptops and phones. If you don't treat batterys with respect, they WILL do that"
:)

Well with the "little spinner" the (young) man at the vape store told me I can "stealth vape" (that's actually a term!!! lol) and hide the PV in my pocket and sneak off to the loo for a quick vape and avoid the smoking break crowd. I like that idea... makes me feel like a secret agent.. "stealth vaping".... lol lol lol

Glad to meet you MissMcVayp

Yeah, it kind of shut's them up pretty quick when you tell them about their cell phone batteries.

I had to laugh about your pack of cigs ... I've got a pretty well beaten up, year old half pack I still carry around.
It's my "security" blanket" ... I can't even think about what it would taste like at this stage of the game.
I was just looking at it again today, and have decided I can "let go".
It's so squished, and dried out, it doesn't even look good now ... maybe I had to get to that point
I don't even think there's much tobacco left in them ......pretty funny really !

Kinda like my old teddy bear with ripped seams and no eyes that I finally gave up years and years ago.
I was well beyond teddy bear age, ... like I am now ..well beyond cigarettes ...
I think it has something to do with my "don't burn bridges" attitude.

So welcome to the fun crowd, you'll fit right in.

MMV,

Way to go! Trust us, vaping only gets better as you learn more and have a few all day vapes (ADV).

As for ol' cigs, I have a pack of 305 menthols that I was 'bout to open when I heard da mailman pull up and deliver my first eGo batts, cartridges and a bit o' joose. Well, dat was a bit over 32 months ago and I still have dat unopened pack sitting above my laptop; not as 'insurance', but as a trophy!

Welcome aboard da train to 'bakky freedom!

Welcome Miss! Glad to have you stop by. Good for you that you don't let the smokers bother you. They"re just uneducated and misinformed. Stick with the vaping and when they see that it's worked, I'm betting you're going to have at least a couple of them asking about it and wanting to try it themselves. The basics are simple, but there's a lot of choices out there and new and improved stuff coming out all the time. Part of the fun of vaping is finding something new and exciting that you enjoy. For now though, stick with what works and enjoy the freedom of not stinking and having your life ruled by searching out places where you're allowed to smoke. I can almost see you doing the happy dance! :rickroll:

Thank you everyone! I am keeping mu fingers crossed (and vaping away, lol)....

Hi and welcome aboard the vape train. The ride only gets better, so sit back relax and join the fun. It's not uncommon to chain-vape when you're starting out, you'll sort that out in time.

Soooo, I've been lurking around this thread for a while now. I'm not much of a poster, so it took me a bit to get in enough posts to join this party! I quit analogs on Dec. 1st, I turned 55 on the 19th, and boy do I have a bad case of the "new shiny mods, tips and juice syndrome" I own 9 mods already! I bought myself a skippy little tip for my birthday from Molehill Mountain that looks super on my new Tesla!

I'm learning about juices and with the help of my wonderful friend Robin aka Rabernet she is teaching me all about mods and other such goodies. My goal is to have 4 dedicated mods ( I have another Tesla coming from my daughter) the little ego's that I have will be gifted to 2 of my co-workers who are quitting cigs on 1-1-14

I'm so happy to be part of such a wonderful community of folks!

Welcome reptifarm... this is a very good place to hang out.

Sounds like you "jumped into vaping with both feet". :) ... 9 mods already!

I like the looks of the Tesla, saw one at a Brick and Mortar in Columbus, the owner was using one with a carto tank setup. Nice.

Come on up on the porch, pull up a rocking chair, and have a vape. :D

(Isn't Hamilton in the 'greater Atlanta area'?)

Welcome Reptifarm! SO very glad you joined us!

You will find one of the best bunches of people right here. Between us we pretty much have every level of vaping, gear and DIY covered. Always someone willing to hop in and help.

Pull up a rocker and set a spell. :)

In other news I almost have a working version of Hawk Sauce going. It is not identical to MBV Hawk Sauce but in an odd way I am liking it better. A bit more tweaking and this might just hit ADV status!

AN LETTER TO THE EDITOR FROM A DEAR FRIEND WHO HAS BEEN USING E-CIGS FOR THREE YEARS. HOP IT IS OK TO SHARE HER VIEWS .... she is 92 years old, blind - but not stupid. This is her reply to the editor of a small newspaper in Ohio .... Mesopotamia is the town:

Dear Editor:

In regard to your misinformed statement I offer an alternate opinion.

Your statement focuses on ONLY ------>"...allow users to inhale a nicotine vapor rather than tobacco fumes," --------> YES, admittedly they CAN be used to "deliver nicotine", however this depends on the "e-juice" - the carrier fluid used in electronic cigarettes / vaping devices! It IS possible for the user of e-cigarettes to slowly (or rapidly if so desired) to reduce the amount of the devil drug "nicotine". The amount of nicotine CAN BE REDUCED to "ZERO" over time or again - as quicklyas the user desires AND nicotine consumption is FULLY CONTROLLED BY THE USER -- NOT BY "Big Tobacco".

Electronic cigarettes ARE in some cases offered as a viable ALTERNATIVE to "STOP SMOKING AIDS" (DRUGS); THESE DRUGS ARE NOT A CURE ALL as the veiled television ads of DRUG COMPANIES depict! DRUGS which are offered and available BY PRESCRIPTION ONLY! Why? Because MANY of these miracle aids offered are DRUGS ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO TREAT MEDICAL CONDITIONS! Just like MANY other DRUGS they have the potential of extensive side-effects which could cause sever reaction in individual users! Why else does EVERY TELEVISION "QUICKLY LIST" MANY OF THE COMMON (I STRESS "COMMON) SIDE EFFECTS?

ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES are a viable choice for smokers - they DO NOT contain the deadly products of combustion which are responsible for CIGARETTES being BANNED by the political machine! ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE USERS CONTROL THE AMOUNT OF NICOTINE in the products THEY CHOOSE TO USE! Additionally there ARE (contrary to the lies perpetuated by BIG TOBACCO and BIG PHARMA) liquids (YES - some have catchy names like 'bubble-gum', 'chocolate candy', 'watermelon') that have ZERO NICOTINE CONTENT! So what? they are just "names" and are NOT INTENDED TO LURE THE "POOR CHILLUN" TO REAL CIGARETTES! Much is made about the NAMES and little is PROPERLY NOTED about the actual product!

The MEDIA is as GUILTY of being IGNORANT about electronic cigarettes as are the city councilors, mayors, special-interest groups who campaign for "regulation"! The MEDIA simply regurgitates (DIFFERENT FROM ACTUAL REPORTING) that which they hear from these so called "experts" and public officials. The MEDIA no longer REPORTS FACTS -- they disseminate that which is quick and easy and does not make them appear to politically incorrect!

ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES should NOT be available to MINORS - not because these MINORS will eventually move on to REAL TOBACCO CIGARETTES, but simply because they ARE MINORS and parental control should still be a primary facet of their lives. ADULTS SHOULD NOT BE PENALIZED if they have found an alternative to the cigarettes which have in many cases been IMPOSSIBLE to STOP! Many have tried time and time again and failed. MANY have suffered the horrible REACTIONS from the DRUGS which supposedly would make it easier to stop. THOSE SAME INDIVIDUALS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL in cutting down on TOBACCO INTAKE --- the ELIMINATING IT COMPLETELY --- all WITH ZERO SIDE EFFECTS.

ARE electronic cigarettes COMPLETELY SAFE? There are studies that say, "probably so" and there are OPINIONS (mostly by those who are supported financially by BIG TOBACCO and BIG PHARMA that say, "no"! Personally I have NOT suffered ANY SIDE EFFECTS from electronic cigarettes. Admittedly, they MAY take time to be evident; yet, after THREE YEARS OF USING ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES AND STOPPING REAL TOBACCO CIGARETTES I CAN DEFINITELY SAY ............. I am no longer short of breath, I no longer cough, my blood pressure is NORMAL and without the use of ANY DRUG to achieve a lower level, my blood analysis shows a DEFINITE IMPROVEMENT in blood oxygenation AND A NORMAL LEVEL OF CO2 retention! MY DOCTOR IS HAPPY! I AM HAPPY and only hope some all-knowing self-appointed "do gooder" who has NO IDEA how electronic cigarettes HAVE HELPED HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS OF SMOKER KICK THE HABIT will stick their self-appointed noses in and make this WONDERFUL alternative a TAX GENERATING TOOL OF GOVERNMENT and a FINANCIAL WINDFALL FOR BIG TOBACCO AND BIG PHARMA!

I appeal to everyone ESPECIALLY THE MASS MEDIA to RESEARCH THE ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE ON THEIR OWN! QUIT SIMPLY BELIEVING WHAT POLITICIANS AND AGENCIES OF THE GOVERNMENT SAY IN ORDER TO JUSTIFY THEIR EXISTENCE!

Cordially,

Patricia ************

Well, I missed the Birthday celebrations and the Christmas celebrations and a lot of newcomers joining the thread. Gotta say Happy Birthday to Myrany and Welcome aboard to all the newcomers.

I am holding off on a few New Year orders - waiting for the delivery companies to catch up on the XMas rush backlog... Still trying to decide on what to include in the order anyways. So many choices - so little money...

I love being part of the "older" generation ... I can say what I want , and I don't have to worry about impressing anyone one way or the other. Too old to care what they think anymore ... don't have time for it
She's my kind of people, and so are you for posting it.

Good job on sticking with the juice to get it to where you like it! Success is sweet!

I find that my tastes are fickle. I've tasted some juices that I thought were great until I actually vaped a tank and then decide it's not as good as I thought. Wouldn't you think I'd know right away? I've also gotten juice that I wasn't too thrilled about, but didn't want to waste it so kept on vaping it to use it up and it's like the taste grew on me and then really liked it. If it gets set aside for awhile and then pick it up later I seem to go through the same not-so-nice-now-it's-great routine. Very strange. Well, I never claimed to be normal so...
