Have ya tried 'lifting' both center posts (eGo & clearo) a lil' tad?
I just sent a ticket to Eric. I am sure he will suggest that, too. Some of the center posts on the clearos are at one point, some are at others. Two are sprung way out. I can screw down most on the adapter before putting the adapter on the VAMO, but that defeats the purpose. I may just have to wash and exchange coils on all of them tomorrow, and fiddle around during the process.

One last diver update for you guys.

I have been using the premade coil/wicks while I am waiting on my nr-r-nr wires from fasttech to come in. Using the premades the setup seems to gurgle at about the same point a carto would for me (15ml or so and at about half a tank). I have had mixed luck with taking it apart dry burning and getting it back together without shredding the silica. It is the nature of how the cap goes on that cuts the wicks to hell.

Once my wires come in I am going to micro coil it and stick cotton in there so every dry burn it will get new cotton. That should work much better.

Overall this thing is functioning as well as a carto but with cleaner taste.

Myrany, I don't get a gurgle on my Diver until I have less than a half mil left of juice.
.3 mm wick 32 gauge Kanthol and no non-resistance wire at all.
Do NOT screw it all the way down!! The o-ring is supposed to act like a gasket, and gaskets never work if they are fully compressed.
You only need it tight enough to work.
Make sure the wicks are lined up properly, and you will not have to take the diver apart to dry-burn UNLESS you use cotton for wicking.
:)

It is odd, but I have some clearos that work fine on the one twist I have left, but not on the adapter. They don't quite screw down right on the adapter. I might just have to order some replacement CE5 bases from Eric. My BCC's and mini Davides's work fine. I think it is those threadings that are going wonky. I just don't know how many I will have to order. They are cheap enough.

However, my attys for dripping definitely don't work on the adapter at all-- but do on the Vamo and twist. Which is why the subject came up. I decided to set aside the twist for dripping at panicky times.

I'd suspect the adapter is 'floozey' if the clearo's work OK screwed directly to the PV. The adapter are a 'pretty' cheap part just massed produced by likely not very good QC. Some of them the center pin is actually 2 pieces screwed together - these can be adjusted by unscrewing the 2 parts of the center pin. Most are just 1 solid piece pressed into the adapter - there's no way to adjust these.

We have a few of these around and once I did get one that just didn't work. I know it was only a few bucks but I still contacted the vendor and got a replacement.

Thanks for the advice on that. This one appears to be press-fit. Hopefully Eric will send me a replacement, especially if I sweeten the deal by ordering some bases. Would you happen to know who sells the adjustable ones, if that doesn't work?

ETA I set the adapter on the wire-cutting hole of some needle-nose pliers, took a screwdriver and hammer to it, and now it works on more of them than it did before.

I'm keeping track of what I spend to see if this really does work out cheaper than smoking. But so far it is not a realistic comparison as I am still in the testing stage and the buying of equipment stage, lol. I buy a lot of little bottles of juice, keep what I like and give away what I don't, then order big bottles of what I like. Once I know what I like, then it will be just order 3 or 4 big bottles of my favourite flavours every couple of months. Same with batteries. I really like the Swig a lot, but it doesn't last me very long so I have ordered another 1300 Vision Spinner and I think if I get one more (for back up) then I should be set with batteries. Coils I have just ordered a 10 pack off of ebay for like 7 or 8 bucks so that wasn't too bad. I would like to get one more charger and 2 more usb/wall converters. Perhaps one for the car as well, but they are not very expensive.

I also think, weirdly enough, that for now until I am totally past the occasional craving stage, that the acquisition of new equipment and flavors is part of helping to make the switch. Because it's fun and exciting, lol, more fun than pulling into the 7-11 and buying a pack of smokes. So it adds a "looking forward to" aspect of keeping to the vaping rather than going back to ciggys. I have noticed that the people who are all about trying the new flavors and equipment seem to stick with vaping more than those who just buy one thing and treatit like a cigarette (which it isn't).

Cold? Florida??

Guess it's all what you're used to.... but maybe you need to wear more that that taffeta tutu?

I agree, part of my success was also due to the anticipation factor, trying new things, flavors and so on. The "hobby" aspect does help it stay fresh and interesting!

And yes, once you've gone through that, the costs do start to taper down, and the "promised" "cheaper than smoking" makes its appearance. But even if you stay on the BSS (bright shiny syndrome) bandwagon, ultimate costs will be less than chemo or radiation...

Regarding the flavors you don't like... you might want to hang onto them for a while, as tastes do change over time, and you might like them later on.

Awesome! I like the 'gentle touch' method for fixing things.

And sorry - I don't have one or know where to get one. I just remember when I was having trouble w/ mine some peeps said their's were adjustable - but none of mine are.

Popped in to say Hello while I take a break. We're leaving on vacation in a few weeks so I decided it was a good day to get my DIY mixing done and get that off my list of things to do. :) Ten 30 ml bottles of juice should keep me supplied for a while :D Next I'll have to make a list of which vaping toys are going on vacation with me. We're driving to Florida this time so space isn't an issue as far as how much stuff I take with me. Not sure that's a good thing

Good Luck with your CE5's Omg :)

Ken_A- We consider 40 a heatwave around here in January :D Personally I prefer it MUCH warmer but as long as we're stuck here in January we'll gladly take anything we can get above 32 :)

Oh gods- PLEASE don't make me give up my tutus... anything but that!!!! lol... My favourite vape is tasting weird and the tank is being funny, so I actually took it apart and dry burned the coil (in my pink tutu (yay me, lol)) and I happened to have a cheesecloth from before me and my oven split up, so I put in two wicks one of 3 strands and one of 4 strands. Now it just has no taste at all, and it gurgles. The other weird thing is it has become very hard to screw onto the battery... like if you're trying to screw a rusty nut onto a screw....

Well, being single and therefore having nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon, I took apart another (perfectly good, lol) coil and dry-burned it and this time I made 2-9 thread wicks from the cheese cloth and put those in it. It is also gurgling and tasting like nothing, but interestingly in the time it took to do that one, the other one calmed down and is no longer gurgling and is now making lots of smoke, but still tastes like a mouth-full of cotton (is it safe to inhale cotton?)...

Puffing and blowing, puffing and blowing, puffing and blowing, puffing and blowing.... I think it tastes less burnt now..... but I might just think that because I want to think that, lol.... I wonder if I could change the oil in my car... I mean, if I can burn off a wick, surely I can manage a car engine????..... Puffing and blowing, puffing and blowing, puffing and blowing....
