Dont worry, have a cookie. Yes! I have such a craving for Oreos right now.

During the FDA hearing they were asking for a definition of "craving" vs "urge". Sounds like you know something about cravings, perhaps you could explain it to them? Actually, I think even I could explain it to them, but I don't think they're really interested.

Those people have such closed minds it wouldn't matter if you jumped and down and shouted it, along with presenting myriad graphs and charts!!! It struck me as something they did just so they could say they had a hearing.

I was quite disappointed that at the conclusion of the FDA hearing, no one approached when asked if there were any other inputs from the audience. I was hoping a vaping attendee or two would give a heartfelt, non-technical testimony as to the 'freedom' and health improvements that vaping provides. No procedural/testing protocols, no bureaucratic BS, no graphics, etc. Oh well, we'll see... *sigh*

Mare, here's a link to who spoke and what they said -

As I understand it, we need to emphasize eCigs as primarily a method of harm reduction. The simple fact that users have greatly reduced or eliminated thousands of well documented harmful substances found in combustable smoking is pretty obvious, but evidently needs to be pointed out. Due to our own experiences as well as studies already being conducted by professionals it is pretty evident that vaping definitely falls into the harm reduction category. Should the FDA decide to classify vaping as a drug to be used as a nicotine replacement therapy the expense to satisfy drug study requirements will be cost prohibitive and end up involving gov't control as to how long it can be used and how it is to be used. Personally, I have no intention to stop vaping, but should I do so I want it to be my decision. And to my knowledge there isn't any evidence of vaping causing the serious side effects of some NRTs.

As time permitted, I tried to catch bits and pieces of the FDA hearing .. since it does effect all of us ..

I don't know what to make of it .. States are de-criminalizing you know what, yet the PV is under scrutiny ..

I'm all for the standardization / testing of liquids and nic content .. and sure, if some sort of health concern pops up, I'd like to know ..

But, like many, I tend to think the days of the Mom and Pop shop that built this industry may be in danger .. we don't have the lobby power and money and the big players want in on the action .. the business has grown to fast and become too lucrative ..

On the flip side though .. once the Genie is out of the bottle .. ;)

I think you're right about that. But if I understood Kristen, one of the primary things they wanted to discuss was the verbage about a time frame of use on NRT packages. We got to ride in on the issue of NRT vs harm reduction and the fact that they shouldn't be telling people there is a time limit on when people should be able to stop using nicotine in any form. I almost felt like they should have started by stating the dangers/benefits of nicotine in the first place because it seemed to me the only goal of the FDA was getting people to stop it all because nicotine is EVIL!

I have to add some "youngster" music -- because although a lot of music for the generation after mine is starting to sound like discordant noise, this guy is roughly my age and makes music that sounds like music. And just maybe TX will enjoy it. Here ya go, man. This is the full album "Wish Upon A Black Star" by Celldweller.
