Semi and Iffy, one of these days I might have to get one of those foodsavers. Since they were expensive I decided to try that battery operated Handivac they came out with a couple years ago. It still works, but they stopped making the bags! So, I got the Zip Lock brand bags and it works just fine with them, but now I'm starting to have trouble finding those bags. It really does save the food when you get all the air out of those bags. I used to dry my parsley and basil, but now I just wash it, let it dry off a bit on a towel and stuff those bags for freezing and it's SO MUCH better! No more ice crystals or freezer burn. I take a bag out of the freezer, cut off what I want and reseal in the bag. Are the foodsaver bags resealable? That would be nice.

Yesterday we visited the Molly Brown house and it was well worth seeing. She was a pretty amazing woman. Instead of coming right home to start cooking we decided to make a stop at the store to look at down coats and ended up buying one for me and finding one for Mike that he's going to order online to get the color he likes. 1/2 price sales are wonderful!! By the time we got home we only got some of the cooking done we planned so now I'm going to have to roll these sleepy heads out of bed to get started for today.

Anyone shopping on Friday? I did it once - never again!

I have been seriously looking for a foodsaver machine but there are so many choices. just don't know which one to get. I have been using the zip-loc system for a couple of years and like it. I buy my bags at wal-mart. They are kinda spendy but are re-usable. Do wish they came in 1/2 gallon though.

I've never done the black friday thing and never plan on doing it. There is nothing I want bad enough to get involved in that madness.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We are having a quiet one since it is just hubby and me this year.

Totally agree! I have been known to just leave my basket and walk out of a store just because it's too busy. And, when I have, that's exactly my thought: There is NOTHING I need that's THAT important!

Happy and 'full filling' Thanksgiving to all my wonderful ECF family members! I'm truly thankful for you great folk!

Yes they are. Just be sure to have a lil' extra bag length on the first seal so that you have enough for resealing.

Occasionally the FOODSAVER site will run some terrific $ale$ and close outs. Just sign up for email notifications.

I did notice when we went to the 1000th page but didn't see who posted. Semi should win a prize! It has been a great thread since our shaky beginning with lots of friendly people posting to make it that way. :toast: I hope you are all having a nice Thanksgiving. For me it is enjoying Football all weekend on my 73 inch HDTV which I am very thankful for!:D

Everybody here is headed to bed already. I guess I am going to have to head that direction myself. It sure is quiet after all the hustle and bustle today. It is amazing... You cook for maybe 12 hours, devour it in 45 minutes and then spend about 4 hours cleaning up and have a week ahead of you to make a dent in the leftovers (LOL)... And to think - we do this every year (LOL)... Self imposed to boot.

I just got back from a pre Black Friday sale. My grandson wanted the new XBox real bad and they were out of town so I told him I would try to get one. Wow little did I know what I was getting myself into. lol I had to stand in line for an hour and a half outside in the cold but I was about 5th in line when the doors opened and everyone started running so I had to run as well. lol I did manage to get one for him though so he will be happy. I wish I would have had a video of the old man and a bunch of young people running down the aisle to electronics. lol They only had about eight of them and a bunch of people wanting one. I was able to get the first one though so I was proud of my self!:D Shopping for PV's is much more fun and easier!:tumble:

Tumble - Your grandson is one lucky young man to have you. I get the feeling you might have enjoyed this venture & I must admit you're one brave one to do that. If you check with the store I bet they have your video. Anyways, hats off to you - that was awesome!:toast:

Wow, what a Grandpop!! It'll make for a funny story when you give it to him and I'm sure he'll appreciate that you went ot so much trouble. One day he'll have his own children and then he'll remember this and REALLY appreciate it!

Where in the world is Tumble?

black-friday-2012-sales.jpg

Your a good Grandpop! I remember running all over down tracking down the elusive 'toy' for the kids when then were young, even going to mid-night sales. When successful, it was worth it for the look in their eyes when they opened the packages - but I sure don't miss doing it. Ordering on-line, is my go to, for holiday shopping.
