Here's an Igo-W with 28ga faux-quad coils. Actually just a .5 ohm dual coil vertical build with the coils split to double the wicking capacity. If you don't look close it looks like quads though ;) This configuration actually gave me the best flavor I've ever had, better than the diamond coils I've tried, I was surprised as I build it as a novelty basically but it became one of my daily vapes:

That configuration vaped so well I figured I'd put a split coil in my ERA clone, at 1.5ohms I believe for use on my Zmax at 6v. Please excuse the messy cotton:

My other ERA clone with stacked 1ohm micros:

And I switched my Kraken back to cotton with micros, with a little cotton halo on top.

1.06 vertical twisted 30g micro in my protank with cotton stuffed around it.

Dual twisted 30g on my igo-w coming in at 0.39 ohms. Definitely not an all day vape but wanted to see if I could build it. Fun for blowing some clouds to fog out the beer pong table. [awaiting judgement]

Nice build, how many wraps is that and ohms? Flavors nice?

Thanks! They are 1 ohm coils (seems to be my sweet spot for duals) with 12 wraps of 28g on a thick paperclip. I don't actually have any cotton tails down in the tank, when I wicked the coils I pulled the cotton downward through the holes and then just clipped off any excess sticking into the tank, so the holes themselves have little cotton tails in them. With the tank at least a third full, my normal angle of vaping, and the suction of lung inhales it wicks awesome (sometimes too well actually) and I can take huge puff after huge puff without any drying out. Although I have to use it like a tipper for the last tiny bit of the tank. It's the first time I've got cotton to wick well in a genny so I'm pretty happy :)

The flavor is quite strong and punchy, the Kraken's small chamber probably helps quite a bit, but with the vapor being so hot I seem to loose a bit of the more nuanced, light flavors present in some juices. If I bumped the resistance up to 1.3 per coil it would probably cool the vape quite a bit and bring those nuances back, but I use this as my nic machine and keep drippers around for really clear and balanced flavor so I'm not too worried. And I'm already barely cramming the coils in there right now, adding another 3 wraps or so and I couldn't fit the cotton on the top.

Only issue is being really careful when putting that little cotton halo on there, depending on what drip tips you use. I have a titanium tip that looks really nice with the Kraken but the stem of the tip sticks down into the chamber pretty far, and I end up just sucking liquid straight from the cotton into my mouth like a straw.

Making coils early in the morning?

Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk

I made that one at about 4pm on Wednesday. Its on its 5th tank or so, but I took that pic when I went to fill it the third time. I get on late and usually on rebuild nights I will stay up until early morning. When I get the itch I just rebuild everything I can find.

Same here. I go in spurts. I get lazy at times but when I'm ready to rebuild, I go into machine mode.

Igo-L 1/8" ID 9-wrap 24awg nichrome and a veritable Chunk of cotton. 0.6ohm. This thing rocks. A micro coil of my 24g nichrome dried out the wick in one drag. So I decided to dramatically increase the ID to allow a chunk of cotton. It was a great decision.
I've experienced this same thing with sub-ohm micros. Since the heaviest wire I have right now is 28 gauge kanthal, I've had the best luck with 5 spaced wraps at 3/32" ID for about 0.9 ohms with a single coil. I wrap 7 touching at the same diameter for duals at about 0.65 ohms (see my post a little while back for these "macro coils"). Simple and boring, but easy and effective. I'm going to pick up some 26 gauge soon so I can try a sub-ohm touching coil at the 3/32" ID.

Otherwise, I always go with microcoils for 1.5+ ohms since it isn't drinking so much juice IME. They've been great with 30 gauge in my clearos. I don't doubt that others are having success with true sub-ohm micros but I definitely run into a wicking issue.

Got Fogger V2 to replace my lost Pyrex RSST. Set it up w/ 2.5mm ekowool and 1.3 ohm 28g nichrome coil. Tucked the wicks in, did some short-proofing and so far, so VERY good. Semi-PITA to set up using thicker wires, but air flow control works very well, and taste is off the charts. So far, no floods post initial try on stock everything (most likely a noob filling mistake that pressure leaked it).

Can't beat that glass tank/window to keep track of juice levels and $25 price tag.

Borrowed my buddies rsst. First time messing around with a genny. Definitely a little out of my element but more simple to build than I had thought. Little out of my micro niche for this build but it's not bad. Still trying to get the hang of this genny tilt thing... Keep getting so many dry hits.

Haven't even really ran a full tank through this thing and my coil is gunned up. Is this normal for a genny?! Lol

Usually sweet and or dark juices seem to gunk faster than clear ones, but yes, the genny does seem to gunk quicker than some others or that was my experience at least.

A couple of easy things to try that should help with wicking, at least a little: Get the wick out in the center of the wick hole to improve surface wicking, and leave the top of the wick longer above to coil. It should have room to go a little higher than the center post or at least even with the center post. Gains will be small, but it's easy done.

A bigger thing would be to leave out the fill hole plug. That, along with the genny tilt, should keep plenty of juice to the coil. It also increases juice run back though, so it's a bit of a trade off.

Yeah man I understand the juice junk theory lol. But like I said, the amount of gunk build up on this freshly built coil is more than my longest built dripper build... Same juice.
Gennys, as was my fear, seem more touchy than drippers. I like being able to keep a full tank on me while I'm out, doesn't last incredibly long, but not as bad as dripping that often... But the dry hits are crazy.
Anybody know any cotton genny recommendations

I use cotton in my cheap gennie hybrid... the only thing I've found that even comes close to working is the "auto dripper" style... a tiny bit of cotton that baaarely enters the tank. It requires a LOT of tipping, and to be honest, is a PITA (possibly even more so than dripping). I really don't like gennies for just this reason. Besides not having to refill as often, drippers pretty much outperform them in every way.
