Geesh I'm reading all of this hoping to learn...All I have is my Igo-W and I do alright and I say alright loosely. I use my 30awg kanthal and I make my microcoil with about 4-5 wraps use cotton as a wick, I'm at 1.4 ohms on my MVP 2.0 but I'm just not getting vapor like I see everyone else get. Makes me feel like a failure. The flavors there....but not the vapor, plus it seems like it takes forever for the coil to heat up.

Anyway I'm reading thru this thread and all I'm thinking is Boys, Boys, Boys!! Makes me laugh.. You guys are WAY out of my league!! But then again I want to enjoy my rda I really do.

You need to check that on a multimeter. It has been a long time since I did single round wire coils but if memory serves me correctly 4-5 wrap micro 30ga should be lower than 1.4 ohms. Maybe somethings not quite right with your atty or MVP? Or maybe your not doing a true micro? (Around 1/16 ID)

Could be lower maybe 1.2 - I don't have it in front of me. And I actually wrapped it around something larger this time than I usually do -- I am a girl that lives in a house without a drill so no drill bits here. I have a little eyeglass screwdriver that I used to use but for some reason I kept thinking it was too small. Last time I did it I just used the smallest screwdriver I had in my "toolbox" which is a lot larger in diameter so yes your actually correct it's probably not a microcoil.

What do you use for wick?
If cotton, I'd go back to that eyeglass screwdriver with about 10 to 12 wraps touching micro style and see what the resistance is. Make sure you keep good tension on the wire as you are wrapping it and after mounting dry burn till red then quickly (after you let off the button) squeeze with tweezers. Repeat as necessary (if necessary) where the coil doesn't have any noticeable gaps between wraps. Give that a shot with cotton rolled in your fingertips where it just slides through without having to tug hard on it. Make sure the coil is close to the air hole and centered on it.

I decided to buy a couple clear (frosted) caps from FT to play with since they are so cheap.

The coil I wrapped is a little cheesy - but taste is spot on ;)
4 AMC 3mm ID - I wanted to keep resistance up so I don't over heat the plastic, that's why so many wraps.

The best coil so far in the thread!! Probably doesn't "chuck much vapor" though... :toast:

looks like a nice lightbulb!
you should change your wick, I've heard that bacon gets a better flavor
