am thinking of getting into gennies... would you say a Prometheus is better than a Kraken? if so why?

Both are good choices (I have both), but I find myself reaching for the Prometheus more often than the Kraken. I just find that the Prometheus is a bit easier to build on (I really like the slotted center post), and the flavor (if setup properly) is excellent. I have mine setup in auto-dripper mode with cotton & micro coils and it's a real treat to vape on!!

Here's a pic of how I'm running my Prometheus....Dual 28ga micros wicked with organic cotton. I call it "auto dripper" mode becuase it's just like having a dripper with a tank under it! All you do is tilt the atty to wet the wicks....

You have the original or a clone? If the latter, what manufacturer?

Yeah, I guess it does, but I didn't name this build though, just took the idea from a RipTripper Vid:

Hurricane Coil Build - YouTube

I know this is a month old quote, but thanks for sharing that vid :) Just tried it out as my first non-"standard" build and it works great xD PITA to trap the wire ribbon under the screws without messing up the coil (Built on an IGO-L, only slotted atty I have until my fasttech order comes in is the SCAR which the air flow would have been a problem)... Messed up at the top a 'lil but still works great. Resistance is 2.2Ω

SO I bought a mech mod and am now sub ohming.... both of these builds ohmed out a 0.5.
In the igo-w with 1/16th airholes I have two 6-7 wrap 28g microcoils, my favriote vape to date...
In the 3 airhole minidripper I made a twisted 28g microcoil with 6wraps, amazing flavour and density but just a little too hot for my liking. Not much room to work in the mini dripper had to do a lot of finagling to not have the coil touch the walls of the well.

Sorry I got to this a little late Jeff lol, I've never had a Kraken so I don't want to give you a wrong answer. But I know the Prometheus is perfect for someone that likes big vapor, and wants a reservoir. If your OK with sacrificing just a little bit of flavor, for RDA-like vapor (pretty unheard of for most gennies), then I'd say go for it.

The Kraken looks like a fine piece of equipment too just going off of pictures, if I had to choose though I think I'd go with the Prometheus just because I like the look of the deck better (just my personal preference). The Prometheus has HUGE airflow stock as another plus as well, the Kraken's is quite small by comparison, but I'm sure it could be drilled. If your an absolute flavor chaser, and need your super dense flavor, then I'd put my money on the Kraken for sure. The prometheus was no slouch at all, the flavor is still great, but was a little less flavorful than your average RDA (at wide open airflow).

If you do go with the Prometheus, and want faster wicking, I drilled my wick holes out and it turned into a whole 'nother animal. I can vape sub-ohm builds on cotton in it no problem, and if it even comes close to dry hitting, a quick tip upside down with the new holes wets it up pretty quick. Here's a post I did on it:

(darnit the pictures expired, I'll see if I still have them.)

I 100% agree, I use cotton with it as well, that's the device that probably drinks most of my juice! I drip 90% of the time, but it's a noticable difference in juice "efficiency" when I vape the prometheus. (I think it's because I don't have to stop and drip, it just keeps going!)

Welcome to the "club" brother! Open that mini-dripper up! For me when I first drilled an RDA, it was like night and day, I went from 1/16" dual to dual 5/64th's and made it 2x better at least (for my tastes). Later I drilled that to 1/8th :p, bigger airflow (with hot coils) = bigger vapor, drill it wider one size up at a time if it's too hot man!

I'm sorta kinda cross-posting this from the Fogger V4 thread, but I'm so shocked (and pleased) that I got this bugger working great on the first try that I wanna share.
Dual 1Ohm coils, 28 gauge. Total resistance is .5 Ohms, which is lower than I'm comfortable with so the next build will be around .8Ohms.

Well... I'm so tickled at finally knowing how to build coils and wick them properly, I got a Kayfun last week and took some pics of my own setup. But you guys are so high-tech-vape-geek, I'm just plain embarrassed to show my single coil in a cotton nest, no matter how well it works.

Made this'n today, I wanted to bring the vertical, 1/16th", dual 24ga, micro-coils close to the Tobh's airflow. So I threw in a 45° angle to reeeach it on over, ended up looking like a yin & yang symbol . Vapes awesome too at .2ohm's, the long and short "legs" of the coils glow completely even, which is hard to see because they light up instantly, but they're nicely spaced. I hope this 24ga lasts for a long time because I don't want to change it!

Vape on y'all! Remember it's not the size of the boat...

Nah, show us! You never know, I learn a LOT from just looking at everyone's photos. I've been on the rebuild bandwagon for about a year now, but I only consider myself "barely competent." I'm always surprised when I get something set up right, ESPECIALLY on the first try!

So here's a simple dual coil build 28 ga @0.5 0hm

Wicked with RAYON.
This is the first time I've used it, it's probably better in a kf style atty but the flavor is really clean.

Right on! I'm liking the sound of Rayon. EDIT*: Oops I found out about the safe Lyocell in the other thread Lol. I'd love to find this stuff as thin as possible!

Well ok. My coil is deformed, I can't get the wraps to stay together no matter what I do (so today I ordered some ceramic tip tweezers!), but it works fine. I'm using the "cotton nest" technique...

I've actually got it sitting up a little higher now...

Nice, good! I think part of the reason why the wraps won't stay together is that the terminals are farther apart than the legs of the coil. Put a couple bends in those legs so that the wire capture process doesn't pull it apart. The coil is one thing, the legs are another. Shape them.

(I don't have any "K" atties)

another thing, is the direction that the screw turns when you capture your legs. the clockwise motion pulls your coil open. Try reversing the direction of wrap on your coil (and/or which side of the screw it lands on)
