I'm not sure I understand slippy. If I'm using more wraps and less power, wouldn't I be building up less heat? Are you referring to residual heat or increased ramp up time? Or are you referring to the actual heat of the vape?

I mean increased ramp up and and residual jj :) looking good though bro ;)

As a little side note i just gotta say i accidentally vaped my mech mod all the way down to 3.5v today and i didnt even think the batteries were low, thats how good they Alien coil's have been for me, i normally swap my batteries at 3.8v at the latest or 4v if i can

Hi guys. Newbie here. i posted these pics of my build in new members area but not much responses. 0.4ohm 28g 5 wraps 2.5mm. built on subtank mini. i prefer this than the original single coil built over the airhole.. what do you guys think? over airhole or no? some pros and cons of both would be appreciated. thanks!

Do you notice scorching of your wick on the side farthest from the air hole?
That far away from the air, you could start cooking your juice

I tend to vape my RTA's a lot, but I just picked up the Anarchist x Aria Phenotype-L to get me back into some dripping. It's a 2 post RDA, similar to the velocity, but only two total post holes. Wide open it has ridiculous airflow, too much in my opinion. Also comes with a 510 drip tip adapter and a 510 drip tip.

Currently running dual 24 gauge coils around a 3mm mandrel, comes in around 0.35-0.40ohms.

At 60 watts the ramp up is very similar to 26/36 all KA1 at 7 wraps at 70 watts. About residual heat, I'm not sure.

I really don't understand that thing. I would like it if it had just one of those huge slots or maybe even two, but what, 4 huge air slots?? Is that really necessary?? I close down my twisted messes and El cabron rdas about halfway and consider it airy. And it's not like you could just get the phenotype and close it all to one hole and be happy because juice would just get caught up in between all those closed holes and the barrel.

The condensation build up between the air flow control and the barrel isn't too bad, the tolerances between the two pieces are made well and make a good fit.

What gets me is the amount of airflow as you also pointed out. The only other RDA I have set below 0.5 ohms is my Mutation V2, which uses the similar coil properties except I used contact wraps, I thought that was airy half way closed. This thing opened up all the way feels like it offers no airway restriction, it's kind of ridiculous. However, I do love the deck/machining and it's perfect for me trying out spaced coils for the first time. I have it halfway opened (maybe a tad less) with the wide bore on and it's a very airy vape with good vapor production, but can be brought up high on wattage (been vaping 55w/4.5v on the sig150). It feels rather nice compared to other denser vapes I have, kind of like a relaxed break. I wouldn't say I'm in love with it, but it's been an easy build and easy to drip.

I don't normally go too low, but I'm tempted to try something like a parallel.

I would consider closing the airholes completely with the wings, and then mark where the outer holes are and drill the wings. You coul dmake your own airflow how you like it.

That's not a bad idea, thank you for the tip. It performs well once closed down between 2 and 1 1/2 slots opened though. I just don't really see all slots opened being very practical lol. Unless I want to get into something more needy of air

Would they fit inside your atty's post holes and not touch the sidewall? They're huge coils, they'd probably fit best in a twisted messes atty.
Probably not. I have a hellboy and a mutation V4. All I have for wire right now is 26 guage Kanthal. Trying to think of a nice build I can make with just the 26. Wrecked my car 2 weeks ago so I'm low on cash. Any ideas?

I'm not dissing your new atty or anything man. I'm just saying I would love that thing and get one now if it just had like one horizontal airflow slot or maybe even four vertical slots but really thin ones, or top airflow! Someone make a Sapor with a two post deck and I'm sold.

No worries, I didn't take the comment like that. I appreciate your thought and you're right about the airflow being on the excessive side. I would like to see the same post design and form factor with a different air control system. A spare barrel with less open space would be great. I can only guess that newer RDA's will be released with similar design soon, since new things are coming out like crazy today. I will say this Phenotype was a impulse purchase lol. I still can't see how anyone would need all that air. I might as well vape a RDA deck while holding a drip tip over it if I needed all four slots open.

I'm used to my Goblin and my Aquav2, this RDA is like a completely different vape from what I'm used to. I've turned it down to one slot open and it's vaping really well, but I feel like I have wasted machining not being used. It's fun to blow out a big quick cloud though.

Ok, so Im not the best with building (yet) The most I have done is a simple clapton. Anyhow, All I have is 26 gauge Kanthal atm and wanna try my hand at some building tonight. I just made this (not sure what its called), but it has 2 cores of 26 gauge kanthal wrapped with 26 gauge. A tad too big for the post holes in my Mutation X V4 or my Hell-boy. So, anyone have any ideas? Maybe a zipper coil or something? Just bored and want to build something.

Not the single best pic, but that's 36 kanthal over dual 26 n80. Had to tilt them to fit under the cap of the clt v2. 2.5mm drill bit.

Fine particles (no spitting). Ramp time isn't bad at all at 110W. Production is very nice.

Now I understand why clapton coils are so popular!

Exactly! What I really don't get is that with the two post design with huge post holes it seems geared toward the advanced builders who build advances builds which are...flavor builds! For cloud chasing all you need is damn 2 mm post holes to fit 20 gauge wire in 3-4 wraps and there you go. Why would you make a nice deck for advanced flavor builds with unnecessarily excessive airflow?

How much was it anyway if you don't mind me asking?

I think the petri dot mod got it sort of right with its airflow for a flavor build rda. So far my favorite airflow design has been the El Cabron: simple big horizontal slots with an outer threaded afc sleeve that you can close off or open up within a range most reasonable for flavor or clouds without feeling like you're ever "not doing the atty justice". An El cabron with a two post deck I would love as well. Let the cloud chasers have their crappy Doges and aireks or whatever.

It was $65 retail at a local shop.

I also think the atomizer has good potential for flavor if the airflow system was different. I'm looking forward to what comes out next that takes it in a different step, we're seeing a lot of people come out with different stuff. Some of the vapor production and flavor production atomizers are becoming more similar in that you can do both with them. At the least we're seeing good ideas happening quicker than before. Some things coming out don't make much sense like the Turbo.

More to the thread. Dual 27 gauge 2.4mm ID @0.7ohms Aqua2. Single 24 gauge 2.8mm ID @0.7ohms Freakshow mini
