I've visited the puresmoker.com website. The photo of "The Prodigy V1 (Pen)" - or the "(Mini)" - doesn't look anything like the photo of "The Prodigy V1 (Base Kit)."

I know, a very clueless question (which may be answered somewhere in this thread, but there are 85 pages of posts to wade through).

Also, if I may squeeze in another question, will that "DSE801 Penstyle Atomizer (4 Hole Atomizer)" fit a standard 801 battery, or just the Prodigy?

Thanks!

Don

Greetings to PureSmokerLand, Donbold.

The pics on the PS website are admittedly pretty barebones, but we prefer for Steve to spend all of his time assembling, packing and shipping. BTW, I only just ordered my Prodigy over the weekend, so I am guessing it'll be maybe a couple of weeks before it ships (patience, patience, patience...).

The pic under "Prodigy V1" shows just the battery housing and adapter and the pic under "Base kit" shows a complete Prodigy assembled. Although I have yet to meet a real Prod in person, my understanding it that it's pretty darned simple. Batteries in a housing (+) adapter (available in different flavors to fit different model atomizers) on the end of the battery housing (+) an atomizer (+) a cartridge.

The full kit contains nearly everything you need: housing, adapter, atty, batteries, charger; you would need to supply your own cartridges.
The base kit contains only the housing and adapter.

Most people walk in here already knowing their preferences in atomizer, having started with more entry-level kits. For instance, I know that I enjoy both the Joye 510 and the 801 (on janty stick), so I ordered the 801 full kit plus an extra 510 adapter, to have the best of both worlds. Aside from the Prod's reported blow-you-out-of-the-water performance, one of its strong points is that you can choose which atty you want to run on it, and buy the adapter to suit.

And yes, the atomizers on sale at PureSmoker (801/901) will fit other 801/901 products out there. PS's atomizers are not unique to PS; all of the atomizers out there in the world, to my knowledge, are manufactured by the sacred mother plants in China.

Hope this was helpful! Stick around, you'll find the PS devotees to be a kindly, helpful, and enthusiastic bunch of nut-balls. :pervy:

Hey Kent,

The PS USBpass and the Prodigy are 2 very different things. .

I understood that part :)

Think of just a standard PassThrough, but with a bulkier cord, manual switch, and adapters. Yes, the PS USBpass 510 will work with your Dura C atomizers.

Thanks, Steve.

I ordered a Prodigy over the weekend, the full kit. It'll be my first such device and I'm excited to get off the cancer sticks. In regards to the above...

If I'm dripping directly onto the atomizer do I need cartridges?

Do the full kit and the separately ordered atomizers come with tips?

If I need to order something extra from somewhere else I'd like to know now so I'm not surprised when I receive the Prodigy.

Thanks!

Justin

Good choice !! You'll be amazed : )

If I'm dripping directly onto the atomizer do I need cartridges?
NO ... just a tip ....

Yes, there will be a tip on the atty that comes with your Prodigy ... and also on all/any attys you get separately.

If I need to order something extra from somewhere else I'd like to know now so I'm not surprised when I receive the Prodigy.

Thanks!

Justin

Happy vaping Justin ! :)

Ladycats !!! I don't even use a tip !!!! LOL ... Because I am always on the run, I find it easier to drip and use without the 801 tip on there. So my lips actually clinch the aluminum! LOL ... Been doing it like this for 6-7 weeks and once you get used to it, tips are kind of ...blah... :) Should give it a try! May seem awkward at first, but you get used to it real quick!

Haha! And I thought *I* was weird, touching the atomizer to my lips every time before I take a drag, to make sure it's not too hot and in need of a bit more rest.... *g*

I still use the cartridge/filter stuff though, so I guess I'm not really ready to drip directly onto the atomizer and vape minus the tip :)

I've been using my 801 PT like that for awhile. Had a cart issue and was busy so thought WTH. Only use the tip now if company comes over.

I just love all these dirty little secrets that come out in these threads...vaping without a mouthpiece...oh my!!
I tried that with my 510--OUCH! I can see it working with an 801, but my janty stick with doesn't have enough clearance on the atty shaft to wrap my lips around.

This topic could really degenerate into the gutter pretty quick...I should stop talking now, I think.

just tried my 801 tippless, think I prefer a cart and tip.
reason being as soon as the juice runs out it get's pretty hot, the cart, I assume, helps keep it "wet" and reduces overheating.
was there a learning curve for you and did you kill any atty's steve?

Don't let it go to the point of "too hot" .. with your lips, you'll know immediately when it starts to get warmer than it should .... just add more juice :)

Actually I've got one 510 atty that only works well with dripping and a mouthpiece only/no mouthpiece. Stick a cart on it and it's like sucking a milkshake. Take the cart off and it vapes perfect. Doesn't matter if it's a new or refilled cart. It just doesn't like them. I also go without on the 510s, 901s and 801s when I'm cleaning/repriming, testing, trying new flavors or just really busy. Out of the house though I always have at least a mouthpiece. Driving I always use carts.

In fact, I've found the entire PV subculture and ECF in particular to be "a kindly, helpful, and enthusiastic bunch of nut-balls." <-- 'Nut-balls' in the very finest sense of the term, i.e., following the road less traveled.

tailpipe tokers, that's awsome!

LOL Add,
Thanks but I can't take full credit for that one.... Seems that Walrus was the first person I recall that refered to vaping sans mouthpiece as "Inhaling directly from the tailpipe" and I got a good chuckle out of hearing that too, cuz I been there done that many times.:)
