One more thing about mechs. I highly recommend NOT building for the 3.7 nominal voltage. Build more because by the time the battery hits 3.7v it's really a good idea to change it. I usually pull batteries around 3.7-3.8v. The reason is just because they supposedly last longer if you don't let them go below 3.7v on the regular.

Yeah that's a good assement. I haven't mech'd in so long. But I know by 3.6 the voltage drop can start to come in to account. I never went past that because of battery sag.

So yeah it's probably best to make it so the wattage drops out of range at 3.6 so your force to change the battery. If you go to 3.4 it will be super weak and you know the battery is low, cause you don't want to run it below 3.4 on a mech. Pulling by 3.5 or higher is better / safer.

Or set your nominal middle vaping range at 3.9 - 4v

I dropped to 1.6 ohm on the one for the Vision slip and that seems ok. I am afraid if I go too far that the first few puffs are going to be too much until the battery drops a point or two.

She also likes a lot of airflow/ easy draw because of lung function.

She is homebound with a pile of batteries so anytime the vapor drops she pops in another battery. Higher ohms = less amps = longer time.

That's pretty much how I do, works well, the first few hits will be a tad powerful as the battery quickly drops closer to 4, then it evens out and drops slowly down through 3.9

You're right Paul, the higher the ohms = longer time til a noticeable drop off. When I used to run .25-.3 ohm duals, I'd swap the battery by 3.9v usually, 'cause the dropoff was quite pronounced. With my .6-.7 builds I don't notice a drop off nearly as quick. I start to notice it around 3.8 and that's right about the time to fill up juice.

I'm thinking that if I go from 30ga to 28ga with lower ohms at least it will take longer to fully heat up and she might stop her puff before that happens.
Yup, this is where the whole heat flux and heat capacity stuff comes into play...not overly knowledgeable on that stuff, but, that 28g wire will be a cooler vape, so not as strong even if the ohms are a tad lower.

Paul I was vaping somewhat similarly to your wife before I get my first mech squonker, I took the advice of the REOnauts at the time and built a tad lower...went straight to 1 ohm. I don't remember noticing it being any more powerful per se, I was using 28g. I just remember being kicked in the face with flavor (had never used a dripper prior to that point)

She uses RSST genesis toppers, basically drippers with a tank below. I used AGA-T2s until I got these Kanger Sub Tank minis. I can't do flavors anymore so no need for a flavor topper.
Unflavored? I'm a big fan myself. Vaped only unflavored from Aug - Feb then I got back into diy. Man, I bet you get 100's mls off rayon with unflavored...heck...with cotton I got a week and usually only changed at that point because I was bored.

Wow...unbelievable :) that is awesome what a heavenly wick :)
90vg/10dw at least a month of daily use at 3-6ml. I am rotating 3 setups now. Mostly when one gets empty I grab another but one is with me at work and the others are backup so it gets the most use. Even then it is the coil that needs changing, not the rayon wick.

I go months with hangsen Arabic tobacco. Pictured here-

I basically use one single tank all day every day. The FEV. Now the bachelor is looking to take its spot.

I regularly go 200 ml, Even 300ml. With no rewicking or dry burning. And that using straight high voltage or vw. Running that 26 at 8 volts, unless it becomes too much and I turn it down a little.

I always run high heat Flux over 300, 320- 380 usually, and a low heat capacity under 50 or as low as possible. I used 32 for the longest time with vw, hf 350 & hc 12, that was instantaneous. Then 28 for quite a while. All I have for kanthal is 26 right now.

Speaking of dry burn, what's the latest. I see the articles about not dry burning any more. I avoid breathing the smoke as much as possible but it's not like we are inhaling this stuff all day long. Is it a concern about the leftovers on the kanthal? Is SS a better choice?

Sitting down, facing forward.
I "nursed" a dry burn on a Ti coil recently. That took more time, and effort, than winding a new coil. Given the relatively low cost of wire and the longevity of coils/wicks with rayon and TC, it just isn't worth the time an effort, to me any way.
