I think my heat flux is around 390ish right now

Really.. Probably not fully due to sag and voltage drop ect. With the dripper thats probably fine you have a lot of air flow compared to what I had. If you set up right like you have, with strong lung pulls you can run hf400. I was in a tank with only 2.5mm air flow. Drilled it to 3mm a while back. The bachelor has much more air flow so I can push it higher.

I just checked your last coil, I figured based on this ⬇ 26g . 7 coil at 4.1v and I come up with - 304mw/mm² at 24w.? That's fine, Rayon does like to be near 300, going too much lower it's probably starting to be too wet. - for me and you I guess, I know others use it at lower Flux

That tharr is a 26g 2mm 7 wrap .7ohm smack-dabby central Z coil extravaganza.

Wicked with CCR. First run with CC.

So far vaping like a champ. Poppin like a good little coal but not in my mouth :)

Seems like a little better hit than that other coal...think this diameter thing maybe something worth exploring for sure. Different juice tho hard to evaluate properly.

Love the form of the CCr. Love the medical grade stamp of the Tidi balls. :glug:

Love rayon. Love it. Love.

Ya - the 5 wrap 2.5mm one is around 390. So much airflow though like you say. Doesn't even feel warm unless I close it down to one hole each side (then it's warm and extra flavorful)

I know a guy who regularly vapes with a heat flux over 900. He sure does love a warm vape :D

Unflavored? I'm a big fan myself. Vaped only unflavored from Aug - Feb then I got back into diy. Man, I bet you get 100's mls off rayon with unflavored...heck...with cotton I got a week and usually only changed at that point because I was bored.
i have also been slipping more into unflavored,, i use rayon,, i rebuild that omg small atty with rayon on a kangertop box. so far the 1st one lasted about 12 days @ 30 mls+ per day.. technically the rayon was fine..... but my vape ocd condition :) got the better of me and i tore it open to tweak,, tear up and rebuild......xx's several times in bathroom!.....(yesterday's frustration!) --why didn't i just wait until they (visiting family) were gone????!!!!!!

yesterday was the day i started trying to coil & wick 2 much larger rda's while the out of town family was here. (that meant not vaping near them-----long story,,, goes into the realm of extreme conservatives- i put up with their lack of tolerance because i really love them and peace is a good thing :).......so that played a part in my frustration.

Haha yep, been in the bathroom many a time cause of family and in-laws and such...vaping my brains out with the fan on :D
i sneak in a vape in public by taking short drags and holding it in my lungs as long as possible, equals to no or little vapor exhaust

Help me understand. If I have a mech mod, 4.2 v with 1.6 ohm coil is 11 w. A battery doesn't stay at 4.2 long and 4.1 is 10.5 w, 4.0 is 10w, etc. to 3.7 where it stays the longest at 8.5w. I have a tank with a 1.7 coil that is happy on a VW mod at 19-20w. How do people use mech mods in this era of vaping?
For one thing it will take a long time to get to 3.7v on a 30Q or HG2 (3000mAh batteries) at 1.6 ohm.

But you build middle of the road for a mech, you build to suit the range you like to vape at.

Personally for me that's about 0.8 ohm. The drop-off is only really noticeable if you build low.

+1 on the HG2...that battery is amazing :)

Hey!! Thats my problem too...I have about 5 to 6 threads I am active on, and I have trouble keeping up on them all! Lol

Hahaha! Tell me about it. Every morning I have to play catch up, and the Mondays after my wife's treatments are the worst because by then I've been offline for 3 days straight...

So...... does that mean that you should be getting royalties from all the people who are selling rayon for use as wicks in vaping?
I'd say yes, unless you can find someone who tried it before you did... which is doubtful from what I've seen.

They can not use any of my content or writing for their benefit in commerce. Unless I give written permission, and none has been given. I searched heavily back in 2013, multiple keywords, and found no mentions of using it anywhere on the net, other than my postings about rayon at that time.

Gotcha. So they can't use your research or content. I guess copywrite laws are probably more convoluted and tricky than I realize because I don't really have any legal experience at all... and I don't even claim to be an internet lawyer. That is one area in which I am completely ignorant. :)

On another note... I just rebuilt the coil in the Stumpy this morning. 8 wraps, 26ga Ti, 2.9mm ID. Ohming out at 0.5Ω. Right now I've got the SX350J board set at 35 Joules and 300°F; rayon wicks are thinned out super thin and with hardly anything on the deck and it is wicking perfectly. (I tried the 'pad' of rayon on the deck and it keeps the atty from draining properly.) Flavor is off the charts! The combo of the Stumpy and rayon is a match made in Heaven!

Everyone has a different idea of what is simplicity in their vape.
But here we all come together from different walks of vaping for the agreed upon simplicity of rayon wicking.

Yes, I seem to have also converted to rayon wicks. They seem to me, to bring more juice flavor. Of course, squonking itself may help in that as well. :)

Easy -- we build coils appropriate to the application. I've done regulated. I even built one of the first DNA40 sqonk mods in existence, the weekend after the DNA40 was released. But these days, I vape mostly mechanical (squonkers exclusively). Simple is good.

Excellent.

Cool, so maybe on a straight dripper you could use a reservoir, but gets in the way on a squonker.
