A question was posted regarding why rayon lasts longer than cotton..
Here was my quick reply this morning.. Feel free to add to it..

The opening 6 posts of part two i believe get into this. Some quick points...
#1 you can bring it to dry hit a hundred times and the rayon doesnt burn. Only the coil overheats when juice runs out or its over powered.
#2 it releases juice to the coil instantly, it doesnt hold onto juice like cotton... Cotton acts as a sponge absorbing and holding juice. With rayon the liquid travels more on the outside of the fiber in channels. Juice is not held back from the coil like with cotton.
Gunk is caused by an overheating coil. Cotton can allow the coil to overheat within every draw. Gunking in a short time because of this.
Rayon also has self protection from burning, it instantly transfers juice to heat to prevent itself from burning till the last second then holds just enough to keep itself from burning, this is when the coil overheats and the wick is dry.
So rayon is like a temperature control wick for kanthal. It controls coil temp with increased saturation....
The better, more correct the wick with rayon the better it will work and longer it will last.
Ive gone 300ml with one rayon wick, i never got over 20- 30 with cotton before, when i used it. I regularly go around 200ml with my juice... So i say 4-10 times longer, depending on juice.
