Been hearing that Redeyedancer is offering a free upgrade to existing Mini and Grand owners. Seems that he has tweaked the contact on his firing switch that enhances the mods. The new contact, which is included with new Mini orders shipping, needs less servicing (i.e., cleaning and applying noalox) than the prior version, and other users report longer battery life and enhanced performance.
Creates a bit of a problem, considering the Grand has not left my hands since I've gotten it. Vaping it exclusively. Considering that I think it works perfectly well as is, I wonder if it's worth going without it for at least a week (due to shipping, other report it leaves Reo's shop the same day its received).
That's a hell of a thing to say about the vaping experience of the Reo Grand, considering that I'm looking at my GGTS w/AVS, Carlos Juice box, and at least a couple of other mods that I own and catch myself thinking 'ehh...' about vaping them instead of my Grand. In comparison, when putting down other favorites before I felt a twinge of optimism about going back to my desk drawer mods.
I'm wondering if I should wait until after the holidays to ensure that it doesn't get bogged down in holiday shipping and cause a longer wait. Hmm...decisions, decisions.
Oh, the JoyeLR306 is still vaping like a champ. I was able to debridge a couple of EM LR510's and get some decent vape out of what had previously been unusable attys. Lots of people are reporting problems with them (unsatisfactory performance and short service life) on the Reo forum, and Reo's reporting that he's going to try a handful of his newest batch on the way to him and send his whole mega order back if they're not to snuff. I'm still good on attys or cartos, but don't think I'll buy any more of them when it's time to reorder. May have to try a couple of ciscos in the meanwhile.
The other hot topic of debate is high drain batteries on Reos in lieu of protected li-on's. Briefly put, the IMR camp believe them to carry better punch and have longer life when powering LR attys (amp issue) while the li-on camp believes that the protection circuits in the li-ons keep the from potentially melting your mod if you've got a shorted atty.
Lots to do today. Prepare for the holidays (last minute gifts, buy a ham, etc), take my old diesel to the mechanics for it's annual 'first of cold weather hissy fit', catch up on office work after the

-busting court dockets of the last two weeks, etc. Not taking too much time off for Christmas, and I'd prefer to work until Saturday if I can get away with it. A disadvantage of being self employed on the holidays means work doesn't get done and you don't get paid, a concept that my wage earning friends don't quite grasp.
Happy holidays to all.
