@dom qp That ReLoad S looks swanky. Still $60, but I do get your point. It has too look classy and fit well together.

a blue Geekvape Athena
I remember not being too impressed with the firing mechanism and it being difficult to take apart for cleaning.
But I heard a tip on a YT channel about using electrical grease to minimize oxidation and bend the silver plate to improve conductivity and reduce voltage drop. For that money... *sigh* Here I go buying again! 3/7th of the total price will be shipment costs, lol. But good to have a cheap little beater. Thanks for the tip!
And lovely blues playing btw. I remembered you dropping a link in the setup picture thread and couldn't listen to it then. Nice sounding guitar as well.

You posted spit back then dry hit threads.. Your RTA issues are all over the place. I read the threads you posted and most of the advise given was fine considering your description and responses.

Spit back can be an under wicking issue or low wattage. Dry hits can be an over wicking issue or high wattage .. See the problem?

When you have both going on it's hard to nail down. My 1st though with spit back or dry hits is always wicking issues as every RTA wicks differently. 80w at what ever ohm's is going to be pretty constant with the same juice no matter what RTA is used.. So again, back to why wicking is always the 1st though of many.

I didn't read all the responses in your other threads so not sure why raising the wattage for a spit back problem was not mentioned but if it were me, when I get spit back, the 1st thing I do is re wick it tighter... This assumes you are vaping in the recommended wattage range for the ohm coil you are using. If you are then raising the wattage is just a mask for the real cause in my opinion..

Either way good luck...

I don’t remember mentioning dry hits, I do remember saying that the cotton or drop in coil would get burnt quickly (unless that’s what a dry hit is. I remember reading it’s something different :))

And yeah, if my threads are all over the place it’s because everybody would chime in and say I was doing this or that wrong. I’d try fixing it and I’d have the same problem or something else would happen.

Also, just to mention. I remember someone, I think it was Ana, mentioned something like the guy who sold me the RTA was probably just trying to sell me stuff instead of actually helping me and now I agree 100%. The guy who helped me last weekend at a different shop taught me everything and I’m sure my first experience with a rebuildable tank would’ve been entirely different.

That's what happens when you ask for help. People give their opinion.. They do this without 1st hand knowledge of your vaping style, exact build and exact amount of wicking material used.. If they could hold and see your build they'd probably have better recommendations.

As a new vaper / builder you can chose to try recommendations or not. Trying them and finding they did not work for you and your specific setup is all part of the learning process...

Like I said, I didn't read all the responses in your threads but the advise given that I read was pretty sound. If you were within the wattage range for your ohm build then cranking up the wattage above recommended is a just a mask for a poor build.

Good day all. -30°C with the wind chill here in T-Dot (Toronto). But good news…it is suppose to jump to +4°C over the weekend. Not quite warm enough for the short shorts but that’s beer drinkin’ patio weather! :toast:

No shiny’s to report. Still paying off my cats Retroencabulator for her Doomsday machine. She is not a fan of this cold weather and has yelled at me a few times this past week to make it stop. She did say with some enriched Uranium she could make it nice and toasty around here. She has also commandeered my linen closet for yet another secret evil lair. I was forced to remove all linens from one shelf where she has moved in some of her WMD’s (a catnip mouse with lasers and a subsonic squeeky toy!)

It is easy to NOT explain things right when things are not going right and you are not sure what is causing it. No worries and at least you got it going good and have an understanding of what was wrong. YAY.

Half the time the peeps in the stores do not even know what they are selling. Flooded and saturated market and basic vaping sales people that are not that tuned in. Come here for advice as we know all. ;)

Yeah, the first thing I did was put a little curve in the firing plate to better mate with the 510. As for cleaning: the positive/firing plate slips right out for cleaning, and then there's enough room to slip something in to rub the 510 contact area in-place (I didn't even remove the squonk bottle).

Yeah, a hard reset and firmware "downgrade" will bail you out. Now to reload your theme. I always do a full backup of settings and all before ever applying any updates, well with pretty much everything including phone and computers. Sometimes things go sideways and knowing you can at least get back to where you started is a comfort.

Glad it's sorted out and working again.

Thanks!:)

I have one inbound from that sale in silver. I figure for that price I can mess around a little bit to get it all nice and comfy without getting upset that it needs work straight out of the box.

I keep meaning to get into high-end stuff, but I am more and more accepting of the fact that I am also someone with a dramatic lack of career ambitions and a sucker for good deals.
