I wish I was a city girl. It would be so much more convenient. I was born in NJ but moved to Ohio as a kid, not sure I could cope now.

I’m on the edge of a small town and on a nice day, I can walk to the few shops there are. But it’s a 100% car dependent lifestyle, really.
My father would mock jokingly how americans pronounce "To-li-do". I know your city, although it's been at least 20 years since the last time I was there.
Nowadays I live in a middle class neighbourhood, but errands distances are often more than 8 blocks, so we use the car every day. I don't mind the noise so much if I can have most of my grocery shopping within 4 or 6 blocks away.

I was a city girl in Burbank last year. You could find foot traffic at all hours, walk to the local liquor store, coffee shop and grocery. While I was there I longed for rural. When I am in rural I long for city. big sigh.....
I have to drive everywhere I go now. And drive for 2-3 miles to the stores, post office etc.
Life is HARD when the grass always looks greener over there.........

I like #2
We're toying with the idea of moving back in the US, and several cities are on the mat. We saw a beautiful house in West Hollywood and the thought of the nearest Target being 5 miles away bugged us...
At least I could own an electric car, something we've longed for a very very long time!

Lots of that everywhere and charging stations on every corner. There is everything else in West Hollywood, one would have no need for a Target.

We can always tell out-of-towers because they pronounce the city names correctly as opposed to how we say them. TuhLEEduh, JahNOah, and Oak Harbor, which they say like Oak Harbor, and we say like O’Karbor

This reminds me of a woman I met from NYC who told me she was terrified of driving out here in the corn and beans. I was like, what? What’s more scary than all that traffic?

Well there’s no people! There’s no lights! What if something happens?

This is before cell phones and I told her another car will be along within an hour, just flag them down. It’s very safe to do that here. We don’t have people-eating wildlife, and the most dangerous thing you’re likely to encounter is deer running out in front of you so do watch for that. But if you can see a house you can knock and ask for help. At least out here, that’s still advice I’d give. Closer to Cleveland I wouldn’t say that maybe.

Statistically, women here face the most risk from deer, house fires, or their ex, in no particular order, than random strangers. And that’s worth compromising on how far away Target is, for me.

thats what I am saying. West Hollywood is a FAB place for all things walking
And another thing that's got me hooked is that we could make the house almost 60% off grid, as California has one of the highest indexes for solar power. That saves some big bucks, specially if you run on AC all day.
It's incredible the differences from a third world country to a first world one. The cost of living is more or less the same, but there I have access to technology here we can only dream about.

How big is it? While the concept is interesting, I much prefer the more compact Rage. To me, at least, is more comfy in the hand.

Funny, I never thought of Argentina as a third world nation. While I get that it may not have access to as much as the US or most countries in the EU I never would have considered it in the class of struggling nations. I always thought there was a strong agricultural base (which may be totally wrong as I readily admit I know little about your economy, but I know my Argentine friends make the best steaks I've ever eaten) and a moderate industrial base. Granted, I never got the whole Falklands thing, but that's probably true of most Americans, but the UK seemed all bent out of shape over that.

As to alternative energy sources solar is great but if you invest some more in geothermal you can not only heat and cool but cogenerate electricity. No worries on cloudy rainy days, and more reliable for charging your 18650s.

Electric cars are definitely taking off. Now that mainstream car makers are taking it seriously the rollout may be quite a bit faster than earlier projections. I will say I've had the fun of driving a friend's Tesla and it was a great experience. And that's from someone who enjoys speedy well handling cars.

We're definitely third world. The economics here are fuzzy and although president Macri has a "recipe" for world integration, it's simply not working. We don't have a huge home market and depend heavily on exports of basic stuff (grains, produce and cattle) to consolidate the economy. Yet, it's failing.
As for electricity, it's the future for me. Electric cars in crowded cities for short trips are a win win solution. Cost is the main issue. I've been an early adopter of several new tech (including vaping) all my life and I'm a little frustrated here. And with a shaky economy and no longer having family bonds (although husband is more keen to Spain, being a spanish natural, and I'm really Italian, born there) we're thinking about moving somewhere with a less shaky economy. Governments in the past 20 years can't put their fingers on what's needed for growth. And that's a big issue for everyone.
