I’m ordering the ss326l 8x .1 because that gets me to approximately.5ish ohms (my sweet spot is from .4 to .6) with 6/5 wraps according to Steamengine.
What you are ordering there is thin ribbon wire and is a little harder to work with as it is so thin (28ga equiv). Dry burning will cause the coil to deform, so you'll need to keep the coil mandrel handy. ;)

I use 0.8mmx0.3mm which is equivalent to working with 23ga wire.

Ok that’s very useful info. Thanks

Someone call Punk???

@Fidola13 – when looking for Clapton type wire, look for ones with a high gauge wrap 38awg to 40awg. This makes the wrap a less influence on the mass which will greatly reduce ramp up. One of my fav Fused Claptons is 4x 30awg core with a 40awg wrap Ni80. Bout the same mass of a 28awg parallel of the same dimension

I have some 0.8x0.2 SS316 – It’s a PIA to work with, too springy even after heat treatment.

@Susaz – I am horrible with dates so Happy early Birthday before I forget. :toast:

@AngeNZ - :wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

Ok that’s a lot thinner than what I’ve been using. Appreciate the help as always.

I solve that with some melatonin. Take it 2 hours before sleep for 15 days. If you don't have major sleep issues and are below 50 you'll be fine.

Wished it worked with me. I’ve been using in on and off for decades and - nada :(

@greybeard42 im too lazy to search back a few pages but what size flat/ribbon wire did you get? I’m ordering the ss326l 8x .1 because that gets me to approximately.5ish ohms (my sweet spot is from .4 to .6) with 6/5 wraps according to Steamengine. I know you mentioned that the next time you’d get a different size because of the difficulty of working with it.

Are you experiencing a noticeable difference in vape? I’m impressed as to how the increased flavor/density of the parallel coils wish I had tried it sooner.

I just can’t get myself to like Clapton’s or similar. The ramp up time is too slow especially if I’m wrapping it myself (which is also a challenge initially) to be over .3ish ohms. Too much material imo. Also they are battery and juice hogs with no major discernible increase in either flavor or density. (I’ve gone on b4 abt this and questioning why it’s so popular lol)

Sorry for the rambling post. Must be the NyQuil and my meds :vapor:!!
I kinda just jumped in here but I use flat wire and I think you'll like it. Fast ramp up with good wick coverage. I found a seller on ebay that has flat kanthal (Sandvik sourced) from Scandinavia. Very pure, high quality material that cleans up in one fire and polishes up like new. I introduced a friend to it who likes "big vapes" and he said, "Once you go flat, you never go back.". Point is, I think it stands up to Claptons regarding flavor and vapor production.

May I also suggest Framed Stapled Claptons? They are ribbon wire core wrapped with very thin (like Fidola suggested) wire. Almost hairlike.

Happy early birthday! I’m turning 56 next month. Kinda hate leaving 55 behind, such a nice round number.
Look at it this way, susaz and I will be 56, and you’ll still have a few weeks to bathe in the glory of being 55, youngun ;)

A Framed Staple Clapton also employs 2 round wires (that’s the Frame) plus a flat wire and then a wrap. And of course there are Alien and Staggered variations to this. So a typical Framed Staple could be 2x 26awg cores + 0.5x0.1 ribbon + 40awg wrap but not limited to. Depending on the materials used they can also be of high mass.

You can also find Ribbon core Clapton’s. Another wire I use is 0.8x0.2 ribbon with a 40awg wrap. This would actually have less mass as the above Framed Staple example should the same metal and dimensions be used.

I'm an even younger punk - 45.

Speaking of young and TINY:

That's an 8 inch tablet she's walking on. Her full body length isn't even 8 inches.

She also has no respect for touch screens
Nor will she ever ;), or respect for keeping mods and tanks on the table. My russian blue would stare me dead in the eyes and slowly push a glass or mod off the table

Today I purchased an oldie but goodie. The Seven-22 by P4U. A 26650 regulated tube mod. $7.99 at West Coast Vape Supply

Seven-22 22w Variable Wattage 26650 Vaporizer Stainless Steel

Then I won another oldie in a giveaway, the Rose V2 RTA. I really excited to try that. It is a big, heavy beast that could topple over many of my new mods, lol. With that came a brand new Vandy Vape Mesh RDA. But don't worry, I've been throwing money away far faster than I win contests, lmao.

I also purchased a used OG Aegis from a friend who updated the firmware for me. It's not the color I'd like but I just saw a youtube vid on how to change out the leather. It's very easy.
