@good morning shinies! Am going to have a nice awakening time, then get BUSY. LOL. Nothing to buy, plenty to DO. Gonna start with policies and procedures. I was too lame for yoga yesterday but I better. I will get PAIN if it goes too much longer (too stressed to do yoga, that's NOT good.)

@jandrew

If you like mysteries Britbox has some of the older ones and most of the newer ones, Midsomer murders, Vera, Morse, vintage Sherlock... I’m familiar with maybe 25% of them.

Loads of comedy like Keeping up appearances, Dirk Gently, and if you’ve never heard of Psychoville I highly recommend it.

Vintage Dr Who, some Agatha Christie... I would say roughly as much content as Acorn, a bit of cross over, but plenty I haven’t seen yet, plus stuff I’d like to see again. Oddly a lot of Christmas content already.
I'll definitely give britbox a trial --- it's not a channel on amazon up here (like acorn is) so I'll have to cast from the computer, which is fine for me to do, but that means when HomeCare is here it wouldn't be an option for them to put it on for my mother.

For some reason, a good deal of british shows seem to have a more calming effect on my mother -- even darker/violent shows (she's actually much more likely to get upset at comedies). Must be the accents, and probably the soundscape/score. I mean, she is beyond actually being able to follow any storylines, and doesn't pay direct attention much of the time, but she still wants it on ... and she does have more tendency to get agitated during north american shows. I can't tell you how many times we went through the entire Downton Abbey series over the past few years (when it was still on netflix here) just because it would settle her down (I'm still considering just buying the series, or at least a season, just for that purpose ... but I was hoping one of the streaming services would pick it up again after the movie). Watched the Paddington movies more than a few times as well.

But it isn't across the board --- for example, she used to love Poirot, but can't sit through half a show now. She'll usually be fine for Stargate SG1 though (she always liked that one too, but I think she just had/has a crush on Richard Dean Anderson ... same with Mark Harmon/NCIS).

safe distance from a black hole
Morning from the uhm, EU Circus! The sun is out, briefly, as 5 days of cloud are forecast.

Some wild storms and severe flooding in parts of France, Spain and Italy these past few days. Think they missed you Charlie, Lombardy got some I believe. Haven't been around that way for decades, must return.

Have had gales and heavy rain around here too, some flooding in Wales and elsewhere.

So it's a day to get the NAS rotating and watch some old films after catching some Vit D rays.
I went swimming in the Indian Ocean today. I gave up fishing, pulled the line in and played in the waves like a kid .
Temperature today was a pleasant 34.7C, warm. Big blue West Australian sky, long stretches of white sand and blue ocean. A taste of summer.
This afternoon I finished off getting the pool ready for summers onslaught of heat and jumped in. Good stuff. Im excited by the prospect of summer. No more sciatic pain until April 2020.

Good morning shinies

Have a relaxing and entirely work free Sunday :D
Thanks I certainly will. I fell asleep on on the couch watching TV after building coils and wicking then working on my tank stand. It’s now 345am and I’ve gone to bed with my pup. He waited right by my side until I woke up on the couch.

I have Acorn and enjoy it. But I keep seeing stuff on Amazon available with Britbox that Acorn doesn’t have. The new season of Vera, for one thing. Faulty towers is on there too and lots of stuff I’ve never heard of. I’ll let you know as I really dig around and see if it’s worth it or not. So far, I’d rather have this than Hulu. Except I want to see S2 of that Stephen King thing I can’t recall the name of.... oh, Castle Rock.
Fawlty Towers is the best brit-com ever!

Finally caught up! I fully intended to get up this morning and go hit some shops around the hotel, but during our walk to dinner last night didn’t find anyplace I could go without getting throttled by Himself. The stores here in the hotel are LV, Dior, Gucci, St John, and Omega (may be more, himself grabbed me and drug me out the door before I could investigate . Fortunately for him, I woke up tired from the trip and opted for coffee (lots), some lovely pastries we picked up on Granville Island yesterday, and lolling in bed catching up with y’all. I’d love to know what people do here in Vancouver to make so much money. We only walked a couple blocks to the restaurant, passed three of these beauties (this one was flanked by a couple of Porches). I just thought the blue was particularly lovely... it’d look great on a Dicodes ;)

I finished Grey's Anatomy! I need it now more than ever but I REFUSE to start over.

I need a good show that like has millions of seasons. I don't like superheroes. I did not grow up here and the closest thing I had was a Princess Lea figurine and honestly, I never thought she was that great, dude.

I have seen the old Batman shows on TV and for some reason they make me wish to die. Even back THEN they were just so AWFUL.

The husband likes superhero movies and like, Kung Fu and etc,. movies.

I do not like movies much at all. Two hours is NOWHERE near enough for me to commit frankly. I usually spend the movie picking apart all the plot and continuity holes, and people want to punch me. They usually express that.

Thankfully I don't think there is a movie theater here. I'm not going looking let me put it that way. ONE HOUR TIL POLICY PROCEDURE AND STATUES.

So not looking forward to that. Sigh. OMG.

Not sure if it’s in your wheelhouse but Justified is one of my favorite TV shows. Six seasons, I think, and Raylan Givens (star character) is easy on the eyes.

Granville Island has the best pastries! And it's such a sweets-paradise there!

Nice loyal pup Ricky!!! Very cool.

My dog and cat follow me around the house all the time. Well, when cat is not sleeping lol but dog is always right where I am. And I do mean like "right there". Any closer and she'd be in my skin. Yesterday while posting here dog jumped up and into my lap. She does this a couple times a day. Good thing I know it's coming because she is 70+ pounds. Sure was easier when she was a much smaller pup. I'll take it and not trade it, it's awesome.
The companionship, loyalty and love our dogs ...and cats... bring to our lives never ceases to amaze me.

Dog from her puppy days ... 12 weeks old.

One of my favorite shows was "Hell on Wheels"

For my husband and I life stopped during season and we never missed an episode - it was a good show.

Netflix has it now available for streaming and you can watch all 5 seasons...

If you like really well made westerns, you'll like the show..

Good afternoon everyone ... (and all? YES) :D

I hope you are having a wonderful day doing whatever it is you are doing.

@NolaMel thanks for that!!! You have a way with words. It was most appreciated. I hope you two have a blast in Vancouver. Oh yeah, so you're saying you are getting one of those cars to matchy match your Dani?

Not much going on here today just a nice relaxing day. But I am making a list of flavors I want to stock-up on so I can place one mega order. My motto with these questionable times ... be very prepared.
