Not to sound offensive or disrepectful, but those lights you are talking about can pretty much be purchased in a dollar store. They are pretty much meant to be nothing more than a cheap and disposable item/gift. I would not trust the battery at all that they sent with them, and would use the cage and 3 x aa batteries instead. The battery that was sent with it is made from the cheapest Chinese cells that can be sourced, and manufactured by the cheapest labor with the poorest if any qc. I would keep the light and use aa's with it, but dispose of the 18650.

Hey Rob I’m just curious what is it you enjoy about flashlights so much? Never heard of people collecting them or a forum for them. I guess people collect random things but what is it you enjoy about it if you don’t mind me asking?

tail-piping one of the kelpies today as i forgot to put the 810 back in after filling it
there's an authentic green aluminium dreamer on 3F today for $27.99 which will probably be 5% lower with 20191111 applied. bargain.

Good evening Shiny people!!! :D

It's been a busy day but I got a second wind going. We got a little over 3 inches of snow today and the temps with the blasting winds are now in the single digits. Not much snow at all but if not removed it will ice over and become dangerous. It's going even lower overnight and Tuesday. Ha, winter is here. I love it. Although the super cold, yet to come, is rough on those below zero days with stiff winds. Oh well, just deal baby!!! Spring is right around the corner.

There are several old folks on my street who are not able to shovel or use a snowblower. I did the snow blowing for some of those folks sidewalks and driveways. Two older ladies (mid-upper 80's), and are a major hoot, live a couple houses away insisted on having me over for dinner after I finished. Awesome, they're fantastic cooks and bakers! There is nothing like homemade chili and bread on a cold day to warm and fill you up. And a slice of freshly made German chocolate cake for dessert. Yes!!! :thumb:

@Opinionated , I have some laser pointers. The last time I used one dog broke a living room table and a few niknaks. I was in big trouble. I got blamed for breaking the table/niknaks. Go figure! She's 72-ish pounds and goes totally gonzo running around full steam. Yesterdays flashlight fun lasted only a few minutes before another niknak was broken. Yes I know, "put those away". I usually put dog in her kennel when I use the laser pointer with cat. Cat flies around the house AND doesn't break stuff. All while dog howls, wolf like, in her kennel.

Ahh poor baby, yes he must be getting over excited!

So my cat could have more room to run while chasing her red dot we thought about taking the whole affair outside, but the pet-friendly lasers can't be seen outside during the day.. I thought about a stronger laser but I worry about accidentally getting it in her eye and hurting her, so we just do it indoors for short periods.

Your poor puppy.

$26.59 for a authentic dreamer including shipping? i couldn't really not get one despite my self-imposed no-more-shiny-things-this-month rule. think it'll be my first green mod. it may well lead to 810s of a similar hue...

Good morning shinies

@Opinionated hoping you have the best birthday with lots of of special stuff to come :)

Mystery review item comes today and I've asked them to put it in the letterbox as going out to medieval hilltop village with Mum and sister.

Other stuff winging its way or in the ether..... Hooray and I'm not going to worry about it... I haven't even used 17track for weeks :D

Morning (just) shiny people!

I've been struggling with a very voracious flu virus that won't let go, couldn't vape as lungs were already thinking about leaving home. Some reviews on hold therefore while I sit and look at the boxes 8)

Feeling a tad better so I thought I'd catch up on ECF, quickly realised there wasn't enough time before New Year!

Enjoy your trip @charlie1465 hope you are feeling better.

I remember you saying you have 4 Cold Steels. What does the SS look like? Is it brushed?
It's coated with grey champagne. So far the one in rotation the paint is holding up well but still quite new and I'm not hard on my mod finishes. I'll get a pic up later.

We got about 4-5” and the dogs are up to their chests in snow. Rudy is a trooper and doesn’t seem to mind, but I can see the stiffness in his gait. Georgia complains even more than I do, poor thing. She was built for temperate climes.

I will definitely have to shovel, and early, before it turns to ice, and check the daytime temps to see if there’s any point in putting salt out.

When we were kids, we’d go around the neighborhood raking leaves, shoveling snow, folks would pay $.50, maybe a buck. Kids don’t do that anymore. I used to send mine over to the retirement village to clear off the cars. They never asked for money, but a lot of the folks would pay them anyway.

Hi Rickie. For me, it's simply convenience and being ready. I hate looking for things when I need them, lights being one of those things. I either carry(edc) the things I use the most, or have them placed throughout the house so I don't have to look for them. Lights are a big one for me. As I have aged, I have found having a light available to be a necessity for me. Looking under a piece of furniture for a lost or hidden pet toy, waking up in the night to use the bathroom, taking the dog on an evening walk, searching the car for something lost, having a power outage and being ready for it, just needing a little more light to read something, not needing to hit the light switch every time you enter a room, seeing more detail when you're working on something small, snapping pictures that need more light, and the list goes on, but I hope this gives you an idea of why I enjoy collecting flashlights. They are useful to me on a daily basis. It's also a hobby, just like collecting knives, watches, guns, etc. I like light. The more the better. ;)
