@NolaMel HR's post got me thinking so I put a 6 wrap 2.5 mm ribbon in a different jk mini and it came out to .27 and only using 25-26w, vape is better than with the 8 wrap. The wattage is less than where my tri cores sit. Just to give a reference on the quad cores... AVS 6 wrap 2.5 mm ss tri cores come in around .38. Generally I vape them 24-27 watts depending on juice.
@chanelvaps I finally got around to throwing a different coil in the Solomon 3; ss flat 4mm, legs cut at 5mm. This is the sweet spot diameter and height for me but definitely going back to the tri core wire. Flat wire is nice in the minis but kinda bleh in the Solomon.
So far I still prefer my go to tri cores but am liking the flat wire. Admit I'd probably be happier with it if I'd break down and use tc with the flat.
@Skunk! Yes I'm finally dipping a toe into the mech world. Only took around 5-6 years lol.
Couldn't agree more, about the flat wire

Miss @NolaMel
From what I've found with flat wire - the less wraps the better. If it's going on a regulated mod, then completely ignore the resistance - and just do the minimum wraps needed for optimum flavour.
I'm using 80% unregulated mods now, but I'm still doing the same thing - 4 wrap or 5 wrap kanthal flat wire coils in my lil 22mm RDAs.
@Skunk! 's advice on my first flat wire build was spot on too - always space the wire slightly.
