Geez, Hitt, so sorry it happened to you. Must have been frightening. I considered getting a charging bag, but then I read somewhere that a charging bag itself may contribute to the charger and batteries overheating by reducing airflow. I don't know if that's the case, but it made sense to me at the time.

I just charge my batteries and mods on a granite counter and always when I'm nearby (and preferably nobody else--if at all possible ;)).

The bag I got has a Velcro strip but doesn’t seal airtight so it shouldn’t cause too much extra heat.

Mooch recommended not to use them for Internal battery mods.
Your external batteries are absolutely fine and safe in a charging bag:)

    Fair point, but...

Why would that be? If a bag traps in the heat, it traps in the heat. No?

I saw this pic from @Katdarling a few years ago. The toes are the best part

You know, I'm pretty sure I have an old pressure cooker upstairs that I never use. Maybe it will finally start earning its keep.

I've got a couple of spares. Bludger just offered to sail up and bring you one. Do you want with or without chimney?

He's gonna swing by your place on the way home with the other one.
Chimney, I think. It would be handy to have a backup heat source for when the power goes out.

ADVISORY: Avoid using the Efest SODA charger at its 1A setting

"Never put any charger in a LiPo battery charging bag!
Those bags are made to only hold the battery pack. Putting the charger and batteries in the bag traps all the heat from the charger inside and the temperatures can rise high enough to cause failure of the charger."

Some newer mod chips have protection called over-vape or something, that kicks in if it's fired for a certain amount of time.

My way of thinking with my mech mods, is that I have to rely on myself to keep it safe. Reg. mods, I'm also relying on the chip, which may fail. But then, so may I with mech mod safety.

And regardless of the mod: if I use a battery with a ripped/worn wrapper, or exceed the CDR of a battery, I'm asking for trouble.
Relying on myself is the problem.

Well, I guess I’ve been doing it wrong. I don’t know if it matters but my charger has a built in fan.

I'm not 100% sure on why. I do know an internal mod will contain a fair amount of heat while charging. Mooch is obviously your best point of call for an answer.
One thing I do know is that there very popular in the lipo battery world, mod users or remote control vehicle users:thumb:

Sorry if I misinformed you in any way, I was only familiar with using them with lipo batteries:)

He is. Since I have no clue myself, I've learned to rely on our resident, past and present, experts. Mooch, Kurt, Dr. Farsalinos, etc. I would have killed or poisoned myself several times over without them.

I now use a lipo charging bag. Put the batteries in the charger, put the charger in the bag, and close the bag. It’s supposed to contain it if the batteries go thermal.

I can’t remember where or when I saw/read something about the charger bags making the charger heat up too quickly. I could’ve dreamed it but maybe @Mooch could chime in on his thoughts. I’ve watched a lot of his YouTube videos so maybe it was from one of these tutorials. Btw anyone who uses these batteries would be smart to watch at least the very basic of Mooch’s safety videos and how these batteries work. They’re quite interesting :?:

ahhhhhh that’s interesting. I was just commenting on the heat in the bag. Good to know.

Well I guess I was correct when I thought I had heard of this from one of Mooch’s videos that I’ve watched. I couldn’t think where else I could’ve come across that subject lol!!
