I was checking out the vicious ant website and it seems like they’ve raised their prices since last time I looked. There’s a Marquis that I like but no way I could spend $550 on a mod.

That's very expensive!! You could get a custom made 18650 stabwood for less than that and it would be just as good if not better quality :thumb:

Market's getting out of control, but this is actually a good thing for smaller builders :)

But it also reminds me to never forget true innovators and craftsmen like Super-T. It's rarely the Innovators who make money in an emerging market. Instead, it's usually the Early Adopters and Late Adopters who cash in by creating hype through previous inventions and riding (scaling) the hype to the moon...

    HIya folks.

Posting a shiny but from my friend, owner of the local vape shop.

Good morning shiny people. I really haven’t been buying much lately and reviews have slowed down a little for now.

    Morning buddy.

Yeah same here, got like 3 or 4 brands that are going to send something but still waiting for them to do so.
If I'm feeling better tonight i will try and record a video review or two,the Pulse V3 and maybe that Samwich RDA i got.

But for now its pretty slow,oh well it is what it is.

I’m not complaining and like you have a few things on the way. I just hope everything doesn’t arrive at the same time like it did a month or so ago. It’s actually nice to catch a bit of a break since I have big changes going on at my work right now.

I destroyed one of my BXR clones.

    20230606_114212.jpg

Liquid got into the chassis after the top exploded off a fill bottle.
Luckily I tipped it upside down quickly and juice didn't get in to the board but it did get in amongst the top plate and fire button assembly.

The way they are designed means that to remove the top plate, you have to de-solder a wire connecting the board neg to the top plate/atty neg:

    20230606_104619.jpg

I worked that out, got everything disassembled and cleaned, re-soldered and tested, then reassembled.

All was great for a day or so. The mod worked fine - I thought I'd won...
Unfortunately I noticed the wattage numbers increasing on their own. Then other chip weirdness and finally a dead mod.
I opened it up and tried to work out my mistake.

Maybe I left tiny bits of solder that had dried, cracked off and got in amongst the electronics and shorted out some points on the board. Not sure.
Lesson learned - buy a decent soldering station and mostly don't be hasty next time.

Bummer, do you think static might have zapped it? I'd be tempted to build a little mosfet board to stick in there if the fire button is good. :)

    Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

Then package number two from the UK was in Norway, it has just been through the customs authorities.

I just started bucking firewood yesterday, luckily it's so hot that it's limited, already inflammation in the elbows lol

    Could've been static discharge.

What a great idea! A simple mosfet circuit - never thought of that. Are the right type readily available? I did test the fire button for continuity and it's fine.

There are a ton of threads on ECF that go deep into modding with mosfets.

You're basically looking at a circuit like this (minus 1 battery).

    -1.jpg

Note where I grabbed that from --- lower right corner.
Go to: VU > Builders Corner > New Builders Corner > Basic MOSFET wiring (thread name). Some pretty good modders contributed to that thread with their creations.

See if you can find a N-Channel Mosfet IRLB3034PBF somewhere in Sydney. See the following link. I attached the PDF datasheet.
Analog Box Mods (Canada) has many parts.

ModMaker in the UK also has the N-Channel Mosfet IRLB3034PBF. They have several wiring diagrams. MM carries a ton of mod making parts.

If you go the MOSFET route, you might want to consider purchasing a better quality Fire (tactile) switch.
