Looks like a really nice SBS.

Did you ever find out if the bottom is a plastic? I seem to recall you, or someone else, mentioning one of the early photos the bottom was a plastic of some type?
Yep, they have a cheap plastic plate on the bottom because that's probably the only way wireless charging can work.

You did a nice job T. It looks really nice.

Found this on giving it a pitted look:

Misting appears to be the key recommendation for obtaining a pitted look.
Thanks SMT. That info about the misting is interesting.

Try painting it with black enamel paint, just enough to fill the crevices, but leave the raised parts gold. This will give it an antique gold look.
Nice idea!

Thanks Ange and everyone else for your positive vibes.

As for the gold shield...it might take a nuclear blast. Everything I've tried so far doesn't even scratch the little bugger. It has some type of magic force field. I feel like a Loony Toons character trying everything to destroy it and I end up with my clothes in rags, soot on my face and my hair standing straight out from my head in all directions.

Yeah, I do wish they'd stuck to the subtle engraving they do on their attys.
And you're doing better than I could. I'd probably use a chisel and end up with a holey mod.

Now I'm feeling happier about the look.

I sanded down yesterday's first attempt right back to plain stainless steel.
This time I cut my masking strips more carefully and gave it 3 long acid baths, allowing the acid to soak into the masking tape so that the silver stripes have black splotches on them.

Then I used a salt air gun

    Bug-A-Salt 3.0 Realtree Camo

to give it a pitted look. Fired multiple times at close range.

    Good morning folks,

I bought a used corner cabinet, must have something to restore.

Gadget wise, I will have the Dani SBS18350Qi as soon as it arrives at CdV.
    IMG_1493.jpeg

I think it will be a very good combo with FeV v4.5 in full SS, and the small eminent vs dual.

Kayfun RBA I'm waiting to buy, in any case I'm not interested until I see serious reviews.

The Dani SBS will look awesome paired with the FeV in full SS. Wishing you much luck in getting one from CdV.

SvoëMesto posted this photo the other day on FB. LOL, I do like that mod.

Looking at the link you posted the other day the RBA is basically a KFL with the Aerokon airflow. Same build deck. SvM is late to the party but I think they will still sell a good number of those. The pure MTL folks who like Boro's and AIO's will be very happy.

Would love to see some photos of your cabinet restore project!!!

Last photos of my battery tube project. (promise!)

Here are some thumbnails of the acid bath process:

After masking, before acid bath (delro shows size comparison)

    Ingredients
    20230715_134058.jpg

After less than 5 minutes in the acid, exposed parts of the steel blacken. This was repeated 3 times and left in acid bath for an hour each time.

After rinsing in water, drying and salt blasting, then spraying with an acrylic sealant - installed. (B&W photo to hide the gold shield). The white flecks on the mod body in this photo are dust, not surface damage .
