Very cool looking SBS. What is it?

Thanks Mate!!! It's a Fakirs Mods Illusia-D SBS with a Dicodes BF60 chipset. Bought it within a couple minutes of it being listed in the ECF classifieds last year.

Better photo with the Aer RTA....

I don't own any mods with a dicodes board. I've heard they're excellent.
If you were having a mod custom made and had to choose either a BF60 or a DNA60, which way would you go?
@Tor R I wonder if you want to join this one?

That's a tough one to answer. I really love both the BF60 and DNA60 chipsets. Honestly you can't go wrong with either one. They're both excellent and have very loyal followings.
In my experience both do a fine job with TC.

If someone was only interested in wattage vaping then I would say they are equals.

There are extensive settings for both and those can be fully customized. If customization via software was a priority then the Evolv DNA60 is the way to go with Escribe.
Initially setting up a mod with a Dicodes chipset does have a steeper learning curve. But, once you understand the layout of the UI it's super easy.

In all honesty I would rate them as equals. To answer your question, I would flip a coin and be very happy with either one.

As I see it, a major benefit to owning BF60 or DNA60, or any of their respective chipsets, is should one fail we can swap out the board/display. They are fairly easy to swap out.

I have spare boards/displays for my DNA and Dicodes mods. Also have spare boards/displays for my Pico 75's.

    Morning shinies ;)

On the subject of DNA mods. Because I got it for around $50us locally - I ordered my first one in the early hours, a LV Hyperion. I'm hooked on ni80 so no TC, but I like how lifeproof the mod itself is. And I would've shared the link, but I got the last one!

    Good evening folks,

I don't own any mods with a dicodes board. I've heard they're excellent.

If I had only one mod, but with several different atty's and builds, I would choose DNA. The advantage DNA has is 8 settings that are quick to switch between.

If I have a mod that pretty much has the same build and atty, Dicodes any day.
Very easy to use in TC, very easy to check that the TC calibration is spot on, easy to calibrate it too.
The thing I really love about Dicodes is the information that comes after one vape, it gives me the temperature, but most importantly it gives me where the wattage ended up. I also feel that with ss316 wire the Dicodes are completely superior to the DNA chipset.
Evolv Dna 75 gives me a temp protection message, which is completely uninteresting to know.

Last photos of my battery tube project. (promise!)

Here are some thumbnails of the acid bath process:

After less than 5 minutes in the acid, exposed parts of the steel blacken. This was repeated 3 times and left in acid bath for an hour each time.

After rinsing in water, drying and salt blasting, then spraying with an acrylic sealant - installed. (B&W photo to hide the gold shield). The white flecks on the mod body in this photo are dust, not surface damage .

I really like that result, fantastic work, T.

    Thanks SMT.

I tried sanding it off, assuming the gold paint was just a surface colour. It took some of the ugly shine off but seems like it is some type of gold coloured alloy. Very hard - much harder than aluminium.
If you look closely you'll see a fine black dust. That's the residue from sanding. Not sure why gold metal leaves a black dust but there it is.

I've tried carefully prying it off but it won't budge (yet) and I'm trying not to damage the gunmetal paint on the aluminium body. I'll get there eventually and like you suggest - leave it off or replace it with somehing else.
I also tried applying the patina acid treatment with a cotton bud but it had zero effect - no reaction.
My tip would be brass, the Chinese use that material quite often in mods here and there, especially on small parts.

I don't sorry. But I forgot to reply to your post about new mods.

There's a Pulse v3 out from Vandy Vape. I think you have the v2? I've got both and love the bottom fill port in the v2. But so far I've had no troubles using the new bottle fill port in the v3. It still means I don't need to take the bottle out to fill it.

There's also a new 21700 mod from Dovpo, the Tribute:
How on earth do you remember what gear I have when I cant even remember lol!!!! Any yes you are soooo correct. I actually have two of the Pulse v2s and will definitely check out the v3! Thanks so much!
