If you don't need the top part, just find yourself a nice piece of wood (mine was leftover bamboo laminate flooring), figure the necessary spacing and drill 1/4" pits - no need to drill all the way through, although that won't hurt. Just about a perfect fit for any 510 threaded topper.
I did run the "front" edges across a router bit, made it a bit nicer, but that's not necessary, just fun

Uh, haven't a clue. I've been at 18 for years, no desire to lower it. Maybe just try some percent and see if it does what you want, if not, up it a little at a time?
