Good morning shiny folk. I can't offer too much on the Ares. I'm using a 2 mm contact coil (premade, I was having a tremor moment, and I made sure to lift it up a bit from the airholes, but not to high. I thought I severely underwicked it actually (I use rayon though) but decided to forge ahead. That wick must have lasted me three weeks at least and I vaped the Ares pretty hard. So I haven't had to do a ton of experimentation, I got good flavor from the build. It was pretty easy and since I had a Siren V2 already... Well it's a fairly similar rta so I had a lot of practice before hand.

ALL the rest of my FT orders came, but I've been super busy. I have another doggy (oh no) and another siren the Cylon arrived, 2 liters of nic. It was a very shiny day, except that I was too busy to do much with anything yet. In the editing groove... LOL.

Just keep experimenting with the Ares, it's a great first tank to learn on in my opinion....

I have had both. I still have my Athena...
Yes, it arcs at times. No denying it.
But no voltage drop at all, and with the right 18650, quite good, and a true mech squonker, so it's easy to keep in good repair.
Since you seem to have an affinity for mechs, I'd say it will do you just fine.
One other point of concern I have with it is the button lock. It doesn't seem too effective. I will be pocketing whichever mod I get at work and I don't want it firing in my pocket. I like the "kill switch" on the pulse. Internally they look very similar. I like the way the athena looks better. What it really comes down to for me tbough is durability.i also want to see a complete disassembly of each. Maybe I'll look at some videos when I wake up.

IDK? All I know is, mine isn't leaking and I didn't even wick it that heavily. I THINK it was a 2 mm coil? My wick finally went bad this morning, so when I tear it down, I will take a look. It's possible it's a 2.5.... But yeah, I had kind of good luck with that tank for no appreciable reason I can think of, as the whole time I was building it, I was like, "This thing is GOING to leak." I got good flavor right away, so I just didn't question the Aries's magic. Since I've had a cursed tank, well it just stands to reason that I would also eventually obtain a "magic" one. I was not expecting the amount of wick longevity I got, either. I mean, I vape that tank a LOT and my first wick must've lasted over 3 weeks. I plan to "underwick" it again, LOL.

Yes, it's a clone of the doggy style original tank, which I think is made somewhere in Europe? The consensus seems to be that some of the clones are better than the original. But yes, you are looking at a clone. Anything marked "styled" is a clone of an original tank or mod, on FT. If something is labelled "authentic" it will be. That has been the case with each and every purchase I've made on FT, they are great about separating clones from originals . If you want to know more about that particular clone and how it vapes, I believe FT has a message board for reviews and posts.

Cloupor T8 with EHPRO Bachelor X

currently running thru second tank of juice on first .29 ohm supplied coil, AF almost closed and at 30.1 watts. Finding this to be giving about equal flavor as my Zeus tanks that I use 1.5 ohm coils at about 9 - 12 watts.

Anna, how do you get enough cotton (or Rayon) through a 2mm coil to plug the wick holes on the Ares? I would think that would leek like crazy? The wick holes (slots) on the Ares are HUGE.
I used a straight dental pick ( ask next time you go to the dentist, they toss these fabulous stainless tools ... got an assortment for free). Thought about using a corsage pin (really thick, long straight pin for the who forgot from their prom). I just gently nudged it through. Impatience = wick blobs falling out the other side of the coil. I mashed the wick down into the channels for them after I wet them. No leaking. Appears to be newbie proof

I'd stay with one coil type, spaced or micro, and maybe your 2 diameters, 2.5 and 3mm, then experiment with positioning.
Don't change too many variables at once, you're at the very beginning.
You're advice was spot on! I have one Berserker build that has been lacking somewhat in flavor so when I rewicked this morning I raised the coil just a tiny bit and Bingo! I'm new to this MTL thing and I continue to be amazed by how the smallest changes make such a huge difference.
