I've been a freak since the day I was born. When moving from Aus to the USA, I was briefly invited to sit with the cool kids in HS, but I couldn't find the table that they were sitting at. So I sat down with some folks who looked and acted like me.
A narrow escape.... (IMO) being "cool" in HS tends to mean a lack of awesomeness later in life. So, while my squonking bre
thren on this thread are beloved, I recognize they are "way cooler" than me....

It's okay, they're cool adults, the "cool" label only applies in middle school and high school if you ask me.
Yet, somehow I just keep on freaking on....

Saves on many things: squonks, makeup, the "right" clothes, oh and the ability to sleep at night, etc...
On a final "cool" note, this is my favorite EVER middle school girl conversation I have ever heard, at a mall (as an adult).
Cool girl one: "Oh, here comes Sarah, she's so
weird, she dresses so strange.
Cool girl two: "Yeah, we should like, pretend we don't see her walking by...."
Cool girl one: "Oh well.... at least she isn't
fat."

It took every ounce of composure I had not to join the conversation, as a therapist, I have developed some pretty pointed statements for middle school girls (cool or otherwise). It was just too GREAT not to leave alone....
