This thread is the "shinyitis/pet support group." No complaints at all. :)

or maybe she's helping select my next mod? Sweet! She always checks out my mods as she strolls across the end table. I'm thinking of getting a SWAG for the stealth size. There are times that would be convenient. Maybe a new atty, more flavors for DIY, more drip tips for fun, more... LOL!

She's also our warning system for mice. We've been woken in the wee hours of the morning with her running around, bouncing off walls as she plays with them. She doesn't kill them so fortunately no body parts gifted. Then we have to go figure out how the little buggers got in. On the upside, I think the word is out on the street because the mice don't come around very often.

My kitty catches them, takes them in the bathroom, drops them in the bathtub! Gets in there with them, and tortures the poor things.
I hear her at it, and catch them in sour cream tub, take them up the block to a cornfield, and let em go.
I know how they can get into the garage, but I can't figure out where they are getting in the house!

I'll just toss this out!

Borax is dirt cheep! Its called 20 Mule Team Borax (99.5% pure borax) and is sold in the laundry department at Wal Mart. For $4.47 a 65oz box, So Go Get Em:lol::lol::lol:
Unfortunately, you need boric acid to kill bugs. It is different. It is also cheap. I just bought a 5 oz bottle at the Dollar Tree for $1. It is just a powder you spread around where the bugs are.
Stols, boric acid isn't a normal poison. It isn't toxic to humans, birds or reptiles, just bugs. Mostly cockroaches and ants. It doesn't have any smell. It was put in my eyes just after birth. It says so on my birth certificate.

TERRO liquid ant killer is VG and boric acid. My favorite cure for the little 'sweet ants' that invade kitchens. Won't work for big ants, though, they like protein, rather than sugar. Milk solids (powdered milk) mixed with Boric acid may work for those guys.

My girl Ivy at the park today. She was too busy doing dog stuff - reading the pee mail and having a run - to pose for me for a photograph. This is the best we could do.

I tried the peppermint oil last fall when some mice wanted to move in. Unfortunately it didn’t work. As a matter of fact none of the “natural” remedies worked. I started humanely trapping them & releasing in my neighbors yard lol! Ended up having to get an exterminator unfortunately for the mice.

I thought I was the only person with a live catch mouse trap. Mine didn’t work either. I had to kill em. Makes me so sad!

I tried kill traps but the mice just ate the peanut butter right off them without tripping the trap. The live traps work for me every time, generally the first night I leave them out. The green transparent ones were the best. I saw a website once that listed how far away you had to take animals so they couldn't find their way back. Squirrels and possums can travel quite a long distance but mice can't go very far at all. I take them over the road and leave them down by the river. I kind of like not having to kill them.

Just a few more flavors... where have I heard that before? Lol

Is there such a thing as "a few more flavors?" LOL, I'd like to figure that out. Yeah, my kiddo the OCD cleaner, suggested Boric acid. I've heard peppermint oil drives stuff away too, but I'm still pretty on board with Boric Acid, LOL. End. of. Rope. Oh well at least I was able to sleep last night. Heh.

I say kill ‘em all first. Then try the peppermint oil to see if it keeps them away.

Ooh, I hate killing mice, too. They're so cute. My first house, the practically condemned one, there were mice all over, I still felt bad. Also, I was SCRAPING roach eggs off so many surfaces. I hired exterminators to come every 2 months for a year. :( So worth it though I HATE roaches.

I (almost) hate them more than spiders but this time, I will do it myself, LOL. We've had exterminators here, but it's been a year and a half. LOL.

I use Cedarcide. It's pure cedar oil and it kills them on contact. It isn't poisonous, it just clogs up their breathing tubes, so there's no way they can build up resistance. Works on the big ones and the small ones. Smells quite pleasant too. I used it a lot when I worked in group homes. It even kills bed bugs. I sprayed it on my shoes and trouser legs so I wouldn't carry any home with me when I had been working in an infected house. I take a small spray can travelling in case of bed bugs in hotels.

If you can find where they enter the kitchen one spray will stop ants for a couple of weeks. Mine generally used to come out of a gap between the trim and the wall under a window.

I use Victor Easy set traps. I’ve never been robbed. I tried Coco puffs and mini chocolate chips in the live catch trap, but no luck. Fortunately I usually only get them in the winter because I really really hate that job. If I ever date again, mouse trapping skills are going to be high in my list of requirements.
