A friend swears by Deathwish coffee. I didn't really get it, but I'm used to Army coffee.
Pretty sure they make it in the motor pool, cause it's like motor oil

A friend of mine did some time in jail. He told me the staff made tea in the morning, then changed over to coffee in the afternoon, or maybe it was the other way round. It was made in the same machine, which was never cleaned. Any tea left in the pot became part of the first batch of coffee, and vice versa. He said after a while you didn't even notice. And the staff drank it too.

Absolutely agree!! A friend of mine and his wife swear by it. They even buy it in K-Cups and cans to make at home.
They claim they like it because it's the same no matter which McDonald's they go to anywhere in the country. They know what to expect.

Consistency is nice, but it's constantly bad!! Takes a small dairy farm and a cane field to make it palatable.

You americans drink umbrella juice. In espresso country, where every little coffee shop has an espresso machine, we drink decently. And I don't mean that dreadful thing they call latte at Starbucks. Real espresso, with a dash of milk and foam, in real cups, in real quantities (single shot is 3 ounces).

Oooh, that lever! I love that! Me, I have the cheapest, most trustworthy espresso machine ever, with a depressurized basket: the Delonghi EC150 series. They last 2 or 3 years but are dirt cheap to replace! about 50 bucks new. Great for someone that wants to start at espresso making.

I SUFFER every time I go to america for whatever reason. Really! The stuff is almost undrinkable.

Oooh, that lever! I love that! Me, I have the cheapest, most trustworthy espresso machine ever, with a depressurized basket: the Delonghi EC150 series. They last 2 or 3 years but are dirt cheap to replace! about 50 bucks new. Great for someone that wants to start at espresso making.

For a very long time I used the Gaggia Classic - just retired my second one, also recently a Breville Smart Grinder. They worked pretty well, easy, lasted a long time. But the flavor I get with the new rig is incredible

The pressure extracts more caffeine than you would have in a normal mug. It's like vaping on 6 mg after you've vaped on 50!

Yeah, basically half a mug of Army coffee.
For me, it's more about the enjoyment rather than the caffeine intake.
I drink coffee most of the day, and don't want my boss to think I'm developing Parkinson's.

It's either Greek or Turkish coffee made in a mocca pot or espresso from a stovetop maker, both the french way with milk and sugar (so volume wise not what you would expect from a mocca or espresso, it's probably 3-4 servings in one mug ).

If you ever come to Germany - don't drink the coffee. Here they apparently like bitter and acidic, just disgusting and it gives you heartache. A cow's backside makes better coffee.

I'm happy to report a new shiny is now in my home. My wife's girlfriend who lives 2 blocks from us was leaving her house to walk her dogs heard a kitten crying in her bushes and knowing how sad we have been since our cat passed away recently she called to she if we wanted a 3-4 month old kitten. After the vet gave him a clean bill of health we adopted him from the streets and could not have made a better choice. He is gentle, loving,and has a great temperament. This is our new shiny Chance, we named him that because he was found by chance.

We got sick of $100 coffee makers that lasted less than 2 years so our last $18 Mr. Coffee still works but the on-light quit and the carafe has a light star-crack so it's sitting in the box on a basement shelf after 3-4 years of loyal daily service. Our current $18 Mr. Coffee has been making hot brown water flawlessly for about 3 years. We let it make a decent pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain every so often.

Me Coffee cannot withstand my water, too hard. I get maybe 5-6 months out of one. Plus, they take so long to perk the coffee is crap by the time it’s done dripping.

I like the Bunn because they tend to last me 5-6 years and not taste like plastic, but, it’s hard to get a really rich coffee brewing it that fast. I could’ve been a cop, with my coffee preference; black, like my soul, and strong enough to dissolve a spoon.

I did have a French press, but I broke it. Glass. Stupid to use something so fragile before coffee lol. So I ordered a SS one. Should be here before the coffee.

No dice I'm afraid, even tried squeezing them with insulated tweezers. I might do a post mortem and check the physical resistance. I suspect I might have over-tightened one of the Allen screws a bit too much and it it is not making a decent connection.

Am pretty .... about battery safety, am used to working with very high voltages and currents etc. Lost my eyebrows once due to a fellow work colleague who was a complete "$$:#~£. Being flash blinded for 20 minutes is a pretty scary experience.

@Susaz, how could you do this to me? In my mounting pile of obsolete and broken kit due to go to recycling is my old coffee machine [pictured], which served me well as you rightly guessed for 3 years. Oh, it was shiny once, and faithfully served me coffee day in day out until the internals would espresso no more. I am now laden with guilt on three fronts, a] I could do nothing for my faithful friend b] I replaced it with a cheaper model and c] That I have to go to the dump. Soon.

Give us some details on what you are looking for.....

I am 85% convinced that a Squonker is the way to go, mainly down to price. In an ideal world there would be a dual use device, but if there is I can tell it would be expensive . I don't have any fears about electrical safety, I'm more concerned about the following:

• Price point [I am spending my wife's money ]
• Practicality. Ideally I want to take it out and about, and it will suffer as a consequence.
• Quality. Good build is more important than gizmos, and preferably something that doesn't look like it hit every branch on the ugly tree on the way down [which is why I didn't buy a Smok Mag].
• If it takes 18650's or 21750's batteries great. Built in, it would have to have a lot of benefits to convince me, as the device would have a maximum of a 3 year life.

I was guilty of overtightening all the time. Now, I tighten the screws until the tail, that is going to be discarded, rises and once it stops rising up I stop.

@oldgreybeard I'm sorry for your loss I won't buy any other coffee maker ever. 3 years is excellent service, now I'm on the search of the repairable pump, you don't throw them away. I'll let you know if I find one!
