Me Coffee cannot withstand my water, too hard. I get maybe 5-6 months out of one. Plus, they take so long to perk the coffee is crap by the time it’s done dripping.

I like the Bunn because they tend to last me 5-6 years and not taste like plastic, but, it’s hard to get a really rich coffee brewing it that fast. I could’ve been a cop, with my coffee preference; black, like my soul, and strong enough to dissolve a spoon.

I did have a French press, but I broke it. Glass. Stupid to use something so fragile before coffee lol. So I ordered a SS one. Should be here before the coffee.
My water is crazy hard here in Burbank too and I have to use filtered water for all coffee makers and ice cubes and drinking.

I finally let in the pregnant cat I've been feeding for a few weeks. She's already picked her nesting spot in my closet. Should be an entertaining winter.
I would double and triple LOVE this post if I could

No worries @Letitia I was only joshing ... I'm not ashamed to admit I did cry when we lost that cat. It used to follow my daughter to primary school, and was always waiting for me on the gatepost when I came home from work. There was something extra special about him.

Saying that, I named my first DIY brew after you. Hey, it was you who gave me the recipe ;).
Is it any good? Came up with it on the fly, not familiar one of the flavors. Can't even remember the recipe now. Must have been a Wednesday.

Not crazy about 3ozs either. I like a full 8oz cups. 2-3 in the morning and the one I really love, late afternoon cup, 4pm-5pm ish. Full cup, 8ozs. Just one.Not so much looking for the caffeine, I want some but not mega amounts.
Cafes don't have take away cups. So in Italy and here, you need your shot and move on. I love my coffee to hit me in the face and say "are you awake already?". Here we drink mate when at a leisure pace or on weekends with friends.

Have you considered an Osmosis filter system? They fit under the sink as opposed to the big softener systems.

I'm convinced there are some things in life we are destined not to do. Baking is one of them for me. My last loaf was used as structural support for a local motorway ...

I have given up trying, and was thinking of buying a bread maker at one point. The rest of the family enjoys commercial bread and I can't convince them otherwise so I don't intend to humiliate myself further ...

I’m convinced most people can either cook or bake. Not too many can do both. I can bake. My first pie crust, I was 13. It was amazing. It’s just my talent. I learned to make bread with a machine, but I gave that away, it’s just as easy without. Cakes, cookies, soft pretzels, no problem. Can’t do meatloaf to save my life though!

I agree. I can cook, but only half-... bake, wife other way round.
    Worked well at holidays.

It smells good, needs a bit more steeping to develop the flavours methinks but I am MTL. Others were not so complimentary about the appearance.

Used the first batch as a kick-off, left it 10 days, mixed a lot more then added. Hopefully, this will improve the steep speed. I'm kind of attached to it, being my first mix and all that.

I did when I first got back home here. Not long into things I realized I would be moving back to Georgia one day to be closure to kids/grands. Georgia has great, nice soft water. Clean air. Barns and goats everywhere. Sick of the city life. I will be leaving this home in four weeks

I moved back to GA after living in WA state for 45 years lol. I have well water so use the Osmosis one because of the high iron content. My son is an expert on systems, he sold them for years and he installed this one for me a few months ago.

And yes, barns everywhere but I haven't seen any goats around where I live. I am out in the country but mostly have cotton fields in these parts.

    Don't y'all use water softeners?
Nope. We were so busy putting this house right, that just seemed like a luxury. It still needs a lot and ive been at it 30 years! I’m looking for property to build a new house one day. Hopefully it’ll last till I die.
