Oh, I thought you used a sander! What you describe sounds like something I could do. It'll be tricky on the Luna-in-progress, however, since I've already buffed it through several grades of micro mesh and don't want to undo what I've done. Loads and loads of painter's tape and working at the edge of a table so I can sand just the rim might do the trick, I guess/hope. The virgin Lunas should be a snap, though.
No all the sand paper phase by hand....but I do use a buffing wheel on a drill for the final polishing :)

Not even in the same ballpark as @charlie1465 , @Fidola13 , or @DeloresRose beautiful mods my blue True tank finally came in today. Iv'e been trying to find a tank that I really love in blue to match 2 of my favorite mods in blue, close but I think I missed the color match mark.

Those blues work together. I once ordered a blue Tobeco super tank in I thought blue but ordered Tiffany blue instead. And it really matches a Tiffany box. Good luck finding a mod that looked even half ok on.

There’s a Tiffany blue Lustro.

Its no biggie if its not that tight and moves a bit. It'll still wick and vape well. With a RTA (especially with a longish chimney) it don't matter that much for me. When it comes a RDA though (especially when the coil is close to my mouth) I will definitely wick it on the tight side.
I reached a point a while ago where I had enough of spitback so I started looking around for options. I came apon a video of Morton Oen on Utube about it. He did some tests and comparisons and concluded that the harder the better.
That's when I tried it myself and it works beautifully. A hard and well stuffed wick eliminates air pockets that causes juice explosions. It also wicks better when harder.
Lately I don't wick THAT hard anymore as its time consuming and a bit of an over kill. Was good to prove it to myself though. Now I just wick it as tight as I can in the shortest time.
After a while it becomes second nature...kinda.
Just got around to watching Martin Oen's video. Very interesting indeed. I'm going to try wicking harder next time. But what do you do with the tails? Thin them? Cut them?

On most, I comb out the tails after I rough cut the length, then trim off fringe. Seems to work well with rayon. I’m sure more experienced builders have better advice, but I lean towards easy + works ;)

Did you watch the video? He talks about packing a heroic amount of cotton into the coil. There's no way one would want to keep all that mass in the tails, it seems to me, but I'm an absolute beginner, so what do I know?

By the way, I successfully wrapped and wicked two coils and rewicked a third today. That brings my total up to six full builds and two rewickings, not including the slapdash wicks I've thrown into the dripper I use for testing flavors.

In other words, I wasn't lying when I said I was an absolute beginner.

That’s how I do it. Just comb enough to straighten the tails, and that thins them plenty. I do a 2.5 or 3.0 ID coil and that usually holds a good amount of cotton for any atty.

I need check whether I have any sandpaper. If I don't, my much more handy sister probably does.

There’s a very informative thread on VU in a Stabwood topic that discusses ALL types of stabwood/regular wood care. I learned a lot from them. And all are happy to share their knowledge.

Yeah you'll have to cut some....equal on both sides or it'll wick more on one side than the other. I never put wick into the juice channels. I always just lay it down on top of the deck/channel. The cotton don't want to be stuffed inside a channel as the juice mostly wicks on the outside of the cotton. When its stuffed in there, it don't wick well.

The True is next on my list to build. At this rate, I'm going to end up with a ridiculous number of set-ups, since I'll feel compelled to vape every tank dry but won't be able to stop myself from building. I suppose I could array them on a shelf, roughly organized by juice flavor, and just grab whichever tickles my fancy on a given day.

You’ll end up like me, Zazie. Sunday I clean and build all my atties. It’s only Tuesday and these already need a re-do.
