@charlie1465 belated birthday happiness too. This week... kicked me around like a dog burying its bone. If I forgot a PM, I am sorry.

I was looking forward to a pleasant Friday evening of relaxation but the power is out (and has been for HOURS) and the house is slowly heating up and, after eating what SHOULD have been a fairly satisfying meal of junkfood laying around I am now typing away waiting for some battery to die, as I slowly take my meds and wait to fall asleep.

The husband rather kindly pointed me to a couple of flashlights, I was like, "I am sure it will not be that long."

But, I am pretty sure some workmen got killed near our house (ACROSS THE STREET HAS POWER) because I heard work truck noises then this gigantic FLASH of freaking fire and flames and the LOUDEST and MOST RAPID flash of thunder I have EVER heard in all my life.

While I feel sorry for the workmen and ALL THAT I was a) hoping to enjoy tonight a bit more I mean MAN I got STUFF to do like clean up this pit. Also, no A/C means more odor and I need to rewash my carpet that I spilled coffee on it.

There is a thin line between preserving flashlight power vs rolling it under the couch ,and I am exploring that line by doing things like, oh, learn to place it on its flat bulb end, so it does not roll away.

I suppose "Who wants the next shift after the dead workmen" is unappealing but man I will not even have COFFEE even and even If I do I bet my milk gets spoiled.

It has been my experience that like, things heat up WAY faster than they ought to but they do.

Oh speaking of which my first day on Synthroid instead of Armor thyroid was NOT BAD at all. I was sort of awake, alert and normal and not all speedy and creepy like you can get when you are on too much thyroid medication.

So, I would HATE to admit my PCP being right but I would also LOVE it in a way, KWIM? I will say, she is the only doctor who was nice, kind, research-y and experienced enough to EVER get me to make the switch. I think when I sent her that morose email, "Oh God, just switch me. Let's get the horror over with...." She was more surprised than *I* was and also rather determined to like, NOT let me have anything else, she was all like, "Dude, I'mma just gonna CANCEL your Armor thyroid then and replace it with Synthroid" and I was like, "WOMAN, I am not dumb enough to play around with both... probably.... I mean unless I was in EXTREMIS okay fine do what you got to. Etc."

LOL. If I was a doc I would totally be all suspicious like that of my patients but then again, I think like ME.

Sigh .Car doors .NO power.

Happy belated birthday, Charlie.

@lupinehorror i had to check if that was the one I bought. I got a different one, takes 18650/21650. I paid more, but the batteries I have will work in it.

The assessment didn’t go as we thought. They said she didn’t qualify for assisted living, and got her an emergency placement in a nursing home. Not one of the ones we wanted, but we can transfer her when a bed opens up. So we packed some stuff and brought her there last night.

The staff seems okay, and there’s a good ratio of DCS to patients. None of the call buttons waited very long to be answered. Still, how depressing.

Thanks for the birthday wishes... Much appreciated.

Sorry to hear that the meeting didn't turn out the way you would have liked.

I expect that your Mum will settle in quite quickly and then you'll feel better. Try not to to feel too guilty.. At the end of the day if she'd fallen and really hurt herself that would have been far worse

Hopefully she has access to a mobile so that she can call you when she wants and that the home is not too far for easy visiting.

Chin up

Good morning shiners! @DeloresRose it's a tough decision but it sounds like the correct one at this point in time. I hope she's comfortable there, and a spot opens up at one you prefer.

Got a tracking number on the replacement Luna, so I can stare at that several times a day and look forward to it's homecoming in a few weeks. I didn't find out the color, so at least there's some surprise involved. A few other bits and bobs will be trickling in, so I have something to look forward to and my anxiety over an empty supply line has eased. Nothing due today, but the mailman will star to get busy on Monday with some replacement of my liquid drawer which has gotten a little too slim for comfort. I can't wait to DIY again.

This trade war stuff is looking to get disruptive over the next months. Which is problematic as we try and empty all those giant warehouses in Shenzen and our costs suddenly go up. To my knowledge, none of us have unlimited resources, and rising prices during a time of panic buying is never a good thing. It'll be like price gouging before a hurricane, except in this case sorta legal.

It is very inconsiderate timing.

Hey JF what's up??
Seems someone has tried, or is trying, to scam on the tech site I occasionally sell on. Long story short, no communication since initial payment, 2 months files "item not as described" claim, then attempts to list for sale on same site, with serial in plain sight-same day filed claim.

I document everything.
