I think the newer Miboxer has extra controls over individual slots. The one thing I don’t like about it is it’s tough to tell which model is newer or older on Amazon. They seem to lump together. I’ll get it figured out. That’s probably the best balanced all around charger solution on the market right now. It might not have all the bells and whistles of the MC 3000, but it has enough to do the job.

goodbye
I am getting a nitecore.. I can't decide whether to get the new or old one though. Amazon. It's probably cheapest I am thinking.

Anna

I like Nitecore Anna. I have several of their handheld LED flashlights, and use the Nitecore 18650's. I use a 4 bay Nitecore charger also, that I've had for years. Easy, not so fast, but so far dependable.

@Eskie ... on Amazon the C4-12 with 1 button is the older version.

This page has info on what was updated (see posts #9 and #12 from the top). New Miboxer C4-12: "Upgrade C4-12" | BudgetLightForum.com
There is a lot of good info on that page.

Hope that helps :)

ETA: Eskie, I don't know if you saw MiBoxer's page on the updated C4-12 but just in case you haven't here: Miboxer C4-12 |18650 Battery Charger|Smart Charger|Where There is MiBoxer There is Power|smart 12v battery charger, smart aa battery charger|MiBoxer Charger

ETA #2: removed my BAD link to the wrong charger ---> sorry for the confusion folks. ;)

EDIT: Not Nitecore charger. It's an Jetbeam Intellicharger i4 PRO, and I've had it for 6 years. It is still essentially identical to the Nitecore i4, as Jetbeam and Nitecore had just split up. Anyway, still charges 4 batteries at a time. :thumb:

Dumb question time: What happens if you set a charger to charge at 2A, but the battery will only take a 1A charge? Does it do any damage, does the charger automatically drop down to 1a, or do I go up in a puff of smoke?
This is merely my guess as I do not know for certain. If the charger is one of the newer ones I would think it should look to it's initial test of the battery and revert to whatever the max charge is. IDK

I have a dumber question. If you know a battery can only take a 1A charge why set the charger to 2A?

With the newer chargers I have they initially determine battery type, display the type, then automatically select the max charge before the charge cycle starts. After it's battery test you can then tailor the charge to what you want.

I have a cheapo eFest 4-port charger that works fine, but it is not the most sophisticated equipment. I often (maybe never) know the actual amp rating of the batteries I'm charging. Just never knew I needed to know. Anyway, I accidentally set one to charge at 2A earlier tonight but caught it right away and changed it to 1A, which got me wondering what would happen if I set the charger higher than the battery was able to accept.

ETA: As an experiment, I just switched the charger to 2A, and it kept charging. Maybe the battery just takes the amount of charge it can handle and nothing else happens. That's my question, though. Could it be a problem? (also, maybe this particular battery accepts a 2A charge. I know some don't, though)

The MiBoxer C4-12 is all I've been using lately. It's fast if you want fast or you can charge at lower/slower rates.

There is an updated version of the C4-12 charger out and about. It has 2 buttons like mine...

I don't recall what updates were "updated" (lol) but @madstabber might know. Perhaps he can offer some additional info. Maybe the update is only the addition of the second button to help make operations easier. IDK, just a guess on my part.

Yea the update was the extra button which makes choosing your charge rate easier. That’s all I’m aware of, but I love this charger. If I’m in a hurry I’ll let it choose charge speed which it does based on IR and will fully charge an 18650 in about an hour. It monitors temp. and if it goes too high it will lower the charge rate so I don’t worry when charging that fast.

@MikeADore, the only thing that I know of with charging cells at above their optimal charge rate is that the lifespan of the cells ends up being reduced.

Unfortunately I have no idea what you would call it though.
Thanks. It's a curiosity question more than anything. I'm home a lot and have plenty of time to charge at .5 or 1a mostly. Just wondered if anything bad would happen if I did charge them too high.

Here is a link for the new two button Miboxer C4-12 from banggood [US$41.99] Miboxer New C4-12 LCD Adjustable Intelligent Battery Charger 4 Slots Multiple Battery For 18650 26650 AAA Li-ion Ni-MH Ni-Cd Battery Flashlight from Lights & Lighting on banggood.com
The one linked above for amazon showed the C4 plus. It’s confusing naming and they all look similar

I don't think this one is a C4-12 model. Looks like that one is a C4-Plus which doesn't do 3.0A. For a second there, I thought I overpaid when I saw that price :D
Thanks for pointing that out. Fixed my post above. I obviously went by LOOKS. My bad. :-x

but so far dependable.

Have you stepped on it yet? I ordered the newer like 4 bay one cuz you can plug it into a car charger.I figure that will be useful once I have extinguished all my vape money and am living in my car.

Mr. A and I will have to live in separate cars though because he has.... stuff, plus I'm not sharing my car with a NON housetrained dog.

We'll only need one piece of furniture but it will have to be the wardrobe that leads to Narnia. Because: THAT gross candy and also room and NO I'm not killing off Lion Jesus either. WTH with that deal that is a horrible way to introduce children to like, Jesus on the Cross.

It's a safe bet that the real Jesus was considerably less comforting and awesome than that LION. Just show the kids a picture of a mournful looking wooden dood all droopy on a cross with blood dripping and they will feel FAR less ashamed of their lapsed Christianity.

Thank God, I was raised an atheist!!!!!!!!!!! NO BAGGAGE! My Higher Power is way more fun than all of them combined I sincerely HOPE.

Mooch has a battery charge rate table in his blog with long life, standard and rapid rates.

Check out the standard and rapid rates on the Sonys. :D

Got a new headlamp from my work to use in the wintertime. Seen it can take 3 aaa batteries or one 18650. That’s prettt sweet and full blast is like car headlights. Sure getting some attention from cars driving by as I walk and blow huge clouds with my fresh build with this big headlamp on.
