Bad news on the Australian vape front.
@FLICK brought this to my attention today:

Prohibition on importing e-cigarettes containing vaporiser nicotine

It was just announced that a nicotine ban will be introduced at a federal level here from 1 July 2020. We'll need prescriptions to buy any vape products with nicotine in them and then only through authorized pharmacies. Imagine the cost and hassle. I doubt many doctors would hand out scripts and I doubt that even if they do there would be many authorized vendors (pharmacies) who would carry nic. Even if they did no doubt the mark up would be massive.

Customs will stop anything they find at the border from July 1.
I don't know if it will include hardware too because of the labels that say WARNING This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.

I hope @Possum64 is aware. Pretty sure @Daniel Forsyth will be ok

There'll be plenty of vapers out there who will be back to smoking cigarettes within a fortnight

any good reason for the control?

    An update on the Vapesnail:

I love this rba. It's got more air than any other BB bridge so I can vape comfortably at 35W. No dry hits and plenty of clouds. No flooding either.
Haven't put it down since it arrived.
If anyone's tried BB vaping and gave up because it was too restricted- maybe give it a go.

Tax. Revenue. Greed. Power. The usual

it's crazy :grr: Bad enough that they had already banned the sale of nicotine and nicotine ejuice in Australia. If you or @Possum64 ever need anything sent from NZ, you only have to PM me

Here by us in Z.A. it's also still banned. I think it's a power struggle thing that's happening this side.

Big Pharma and BT are winning. Got their puppets in gov to nail us vapers while heads are turned because of the pandemic.
Cigs cost $40/pack (most of it tax) here and it's legislated that every year the taxes on them increase by 20% on top of that.
Plenty of unemployed smokers will be going without food.

Sad news @Pigs. I remember when NZ was allow to sell nicotine back in the day but one could get it from overseas. Cigs here follow the same pattern than Oz, very year a hike in taxes, I think ours is at the 30NZD per pack (the cheapest one). Vaping is the wait out of the crazy expending and health problems Smh.

Knowing NZ likes to follow Aussies I hope in this case they don't. Is all about $$$ for tobacco companies and taxes and I already see many people going without necessities to buy cigs. What a shame.

I hope you Aussies can find a way around it

Z.A? My brain isn't fully awake yet . You might want to consider adding your country @Resistance and looking forward to your review. Let us know when you post it :thumb:

So far NZ has not followed any of the Aussie 'initiatives'. And as our Ministry of Health has so much invested into it's 2025 Smokefree policy, it has even launched a pro-vaping website:

Thanks Ange. I was hoping they wouldn't follow. I haven't been keeping up to date on it. Yay since I have seen many switching to vaping...I work with youth and I'm always happy if I see them stop smoking and start vaping.

By the way I might soon pick your brain  since I might want to try DIY on simple flavours, like one or two. Tired of getting rubbish I don't like :(

Seems like the days of NZ following Aus are well over. It should be the other way round imo
