Great how we all vape a bit differently with the same gear.@Robfisher @Pigs I have to agree the original is best but I do like the FL but the draw on the original is perfect...no inserts for me!!
Yup.... totally agree. Just a simple design which just works. Simple always best IMOGreat how we all vape a bit differently with the same gear.
One thing I admire about all the the Dvarws is the lack of moving parts - no af rings to get sticky, no juice flow to worry about, longer lived O rings as a result. Pretty much bullet proof attys.
If you tweak it in light room you can bring out the shadows a bit but there's know way to do it in camera except to increase the exposure but that will make the shot even worse probably.....hand held. You can usually go to 1/30 of a second without inducing hand shake but that will be really difficult with a heavy lens.....tripod is best but then that's often at the expense of tracking the subject.
Bottom line is nothing beats good lighting.....hope that helps![]()
Yep totally agree. Try and find somewhere to rest the lens but I know how difficult moving subjects are....keep doing what you're doing....your pics are excellent.I do use a tripod sometimes- great for waterfowl, or things between ground and eye level. But I need to be able to do hand held as much as possible because there are locations where there really isn’t room for it - the boardwalk (pre Covid) was packed with people in peak season.
But the image stabilization is really good on my gear. All the shots I posted are hand held, and I am not that steady. And that lens is heavy, but it’s the only way to get what I’m after so I must get used to it. I bought a nice shoulder sling for it, it was just ridiculous to use the neck strap lol.
Is a monopod any good in the more crowded spots?I do use a tripod sometimes

It's a case of taking as many shots as possible too if you can do some burst shots with your camera....i forget which one you have![]()
Have you tried your SQuape Arise yet???Yup.... totally agree. Just a simple design which just works. Simple always best IMO![]()
Good info Charlie. Great camera....no problems there then and if you use a full frame lens you get even more reach/distance than if you had a full frame camera. 1.5 times the focal distance to be exactThat’s my favorite thing about digital, pictures are free, I take thousands!
I admit this is the most challenging thing I’ve attempted so far. I have the rest of my life to learn though.
oh, and it’s a Nikon 5300
Ok I confess....no I haven't. It's sitting here right next to me with the Grus unopened....I will though....prevarication being my middle nameHave you tried your SQuape Arise yet???
IMHO the Arise is just as simple as any of my Dvarw's. Wicking is easy if not easier. Not many parts either. Great flavor and really easy to maintain. StattQualm did a bang up job with the Arise. It's one of my favorite RTA's.

Nikon D7100 along with numerous lenses. I got it as it's a brilliant camera for the money and it has the old screw drive if you need it to focus older lenses.Good info Charlie. Thanks.
What kind of camera do you have?
You've mentioned the boardwalk a couple of times now. Would like to know more. I'm guessing it's in a nature reserve or wetland? It can be. And I’m planning on getting one. They’re great for most paths but on the boardwalk, and some other walking bridges, if there are people around there’s too much bounce. I’m not going to be going where there are crowds though, not this year.
Me too! Felt lovely to load a number in 17track after such a long dry spellMorning shinies
Got a tracking number for my FT drip tip order![]()
