My second attempt at building the Dvarw was an unmitigated disaster. I tried the 24g as at 3mm taking off a loop so as not to raise the resistance, but the resistance still went from 0.6 to nearly 0.8 ohms. The chimney kept getting stuck in the top section every time I tried to put the tank on the deck and they wouldn't screw together. I finally got them together and most of the juice leaked. Idk why. The higher resistance tasted terrible, even at a much lower wattage. It tasted hot and burnt. Then, I tore a battery wrapper changing the battery on the Colossal. I was so frustrated with the setup that I just put it to the side for now. Maybe tomorrow. I ordered some battery wraps and a hairdryer. Yes, I don't own a hairdryer...my hair is so thin and fine, I dont need one.
2.5mm works well for me in the dvarw and will keep your resistance lower.

I tried the 3mm so I could use more wicking. I think that's why I have leaks. I'm going back to 2.5mm, but I'm going to cut the tails a lot longer.

Got my Abyss today and it is a bit of a lemon.

1)Steel fill port cover not attached to the silicon plug - floating loose in the box.
2)Missing the 21700 battery cover/mod top entirely. Just not in the (sealed) box.
    3)Uneven and obviously wonkily hand-machined 18650 battery cover/mod top.
    4) Extremely stiff AF control

I discussed the pros and cons of buying a first run unit of such a hyped device with Ange a while back and we both agreed if there was no mad rush (like racing a vape mail ban) then it would be sensible to wait. I didn't listen to my own advice. Victim of glassy-eyed shinyitis.

I still think the Abyss will be an awesome device. Maybe it's just that mine has issues. Probably more to come too.

I've taken photos and sent emails to the retailer

EDIT Add to that - my Xeta just dumped a whole tank of juice into it. This is a xeta I just took out of a BB/Boro having vaped it for 4 days. Didn't change build or wick. A 1:1 swap.
I've never had a leak with Xeta build. Ever. I guess the bottom O ring on the Abyss tank is a bad fit. This is not good.

Sorry you are having issues with your Dvarw. You probably did the smart thing by putting it aside for a day or so. That sucks about tearing your batter wrap on the Colossal. That is kind of the reason I have stopped using those mods. With how they are set up, they seem to really be tough on battery wraps. Wish I didn't have 5 of them.

That's unfortunate to hear. I know a lot of folks on here were excited about the Abyss.

You say you bought it because of the upcoming mail ban. Forgive my ignorance, but does that effect where you live? I was under the impression that it was pretty much folks in the US that were going to have a problem with it.

Have you wicked a kanger stm rba? If so replicate that in the dvarw. Works for me every time. Length is likely not the problem. Fluff the tails so they completely cover the holes.

So sorry to read this Pigs, I'd send the picks along to suicide mods as well.

No Red my point was that unlike you folks in the US, I didn't have any excuse to rush. No mail ban here.

Think you misunderstood his post. Believe his point was he could have waited until they fixed the bugs from the 1st run.

    Good call Letitia.

The other thing is, this retailer has no more left. I bought the last unit so no replacements for now.
Still would contact suicide mods so they can address the quality control issue.

Sell them in the classifieds, they'll get snaped up pretty quickly I'd imagine.

That is a consideration. The thing is, I really like them quite a bit. Except for the battery issue. The first one I bought had no problems. It was kind of a tight fit, but no wraps were ripped or damaged.

Some battery brands are a bit slimmer, go compare your battery specs against other brands. The Sony vt6 rewrapped with liion wholesale wraps fit in the Colossal easily for me.. I really like the transparent battery wraps liion sells, thin but sturdy and can still easily read my date of purchase labels.

Thanks. I might check into getting some wraps.

Post script to my Abyss situation:

I sent an email to the local retailer I bought it from about 2 hours ago explaining the situation and showing photos.

I just got an email back saying they are sending a replacement via express post (interstate) to me tomorrow. Apologies and understanding etc. They are also sending a prepaid satchel for me to return the defective unit so they can onsend to Dovpo.

I knew they were out of stock but somehow the manager has been able to source another Abyss. Amazing.

    Really excellent CS!

The saga continues and hopefully the next chapter will be a happy one
