I dunno. I like mine. Saves all that food waste from going in the trash and stinking things up. I am not a composter and do not have septic. we always had one in the house I grew up in and it is just how I learned to do things
I don't have a garden yet I still compost. I hate messy trash. As an organic gardener and as an engineer, I am not a fan of garbage disposals. What can get composted, gets composted. What belongs in the trash, goes in the trash. All that stuff going down the drain just adds to the load at the downstream facilities which more often than not are overloaded. For the same reason, garbage disposals are not recommended for houses with an on-lot disposal system (septic tank). If that fails it's an expensive repair.
Edit: And never never never flush baby wipes or similar products. They don't decompose and create clogs.

Well the boiling water, cooled down a tad, did not work. The freezer did not work. Crying over it did not work. In the end, it took a pair of my smallest jewelry needle nose, pushed up under the glass as far as part of it could go. wrapped it in a wad of paper towels and just broke the glass. It came off in 3-4 pieces and those pieces still had to be pried from the gasket.
I did not know that, but mine go in the trash anyway, except when the roses need them.A tip from my long-dead plumber grandfather: never get rid of coffee grounds down the drain, garbage disposal or no. They wreak havoc with pipes.
I'd compost but we have lions & tigers & bears here, squirrels too.
That, is not a bad idea Ange. I'm interested in that flask....would love some lone time with it![]()

No judgement here. Every once in a while I get up on a soapbox and have to check myself. If 50 people got rid of their garbage disposals, one person could get a gas powered lawn mower to stay carbon neutral. Rats, there I go again.
I was being facetious but thanks S. They went out of favour here a long time ago for the reasons @Ed Brown mentioned. They do seem practical to me in high rise apartment complexes where trash storage/ collection is more limited.IN case you are serious and do not know. It is connected to your sink, one side of the drain. You can put almost all foods in it and run it and break everything up to go down the drain. Great for pasta's, cereal, the rest of the dog/cat food, leftover vegetable dishes, etc etc. Just no bones or tough meats.
I can't agree more. 90% of my back lawn is gone...replaced by hand sown weeds. I love weeds.Me, I think lawns are dumb.
